It's very nice! 1st.time we've seen a Can Am car on here? Chris.
Thanks, Chris. Glad you like it.
Not my first Can-Am car on BM. In late March I posted pics of John Surtees' Championship winning Lola T70 of 1966, and in mid-April I posted pics of Jim Hall's Chaparral 2E as seen at Laguna Seca, also from 1966.
Many more Can-Am machines (and Le Mans cars) in the coming weeks and months.
Thanks again.

Great stuff. You have captured the style and grace of what I consider to be one of the most beautiful race cars ever.

Thanks very much indeed.
Coming from someone whose work is of such a high standard, I will take that as a seal of approval.

Here's another of my 1/43 Can-Am models.
This is the Chaparral 2G, as seen at Riverside in '67. It's based on the Esdo resin kit, but has been modified a bit. The body suffered from a bit of an identity crisis in that it had the rear wheel arch extensions seen later in the year, but with the engine cover configuration of the early races.
I modified the engine cover but cutting away the central section, and adding the prominent scoop and the mesh vent panels.
With engine a bit more exposed, I added some Marsh Models carburettors and intakes. There was a bit of extra detail added to the cockpit, as well.
I changed the wheels and tyres with items from the spares box. Decals were a mix of kit, Patto's Place, and Marsh Models.
Thanks for looking.

Excellent stuff. Love the Routemaster bus!
Where do you get the sign writing and logos for the trucks? Are they decals?

Very nice. As has been said, great to have a miniature replica of something with a very personal connection.

Got on well with them: I used Microsol but didn't really need it. They are very thin and need to be trimmed but I will use them again.
Thanks very much. I have a few sets but not used them yet.

Brilliant recovery job on a fabulous little model.
BTW, how did you get on with Le Mans Decals?

The engine on the Lightning were exactly the same the thing that made the difference was the inter/reheat pipe Assy the No2 engine (upper) has a shorter inter pipe between the engine and the reheat pipe.
Indecently the shroud you removed from the reheat pipe that has and angle to it and its that that drove the nozzle flaps. Had the pleasure of walking past the engine bay at Binbrook and Thrust two was there .... oh for camera phones.
The Lightning has an Avpin started and its the Exhaust for that that you can see. The Bullet houses the starter although it was converted to an air starter as Avpin is nasty stuff.
I'd not considered AVPIN. The air start pipe makes more sense than an oil pipe. Never had the "pleasure" of working with AVPIN. The Hunters I worked on had cartridge starters, which could be exciting now and again.

Really fabulous work so far. Excellent detailing. How did you reproduce the welds on the exhaust system?

Very nicely done.

I think that the conduit is either an oil feed pipe to the front bearing housing (inside the bullet), or part of the oil scavenging system for the same bearing.

Really nice work. Love the subtle weathering, especially the scuff/handling marks on the external fuel tank.
