Apart from the cut-outs between the spokes, they are remarkably similar. Well, you learn something new every day.

Actually they are Exacton wheels, that was fitted before the Dunlop D1 wheels (I think Exacton went out of business shortly after the Bond Bug indtrocuction, hence the change to Dunlop D1's later). They are very similar, but not copies.
I'll admit I didn't knew about them before I researched this build...
I stand corrected. Thanks for the better info.

Yes I agree the wheels look like the original Cosmic Alloys that were on various cars in the day.
They are actually Dunlop D1 wheels, not Cosmics.

MoT History says it's a Rover Ital, which I suppose covers it
Fair enough.

I remember a while back someone did a tongue in cheek post about a 6R4 doing donuts in the local car park. Not a 6R4, but similar situation - yesterday a Lancia 037 doing handbrake turns and power slides amongst other things
(which included a Bond Bug and the not-yet-launched De Tomaso P72)
A few other bits of exotica too, but in the spirit of keeping to the mundane I'll give you a picture of the Morris Ital I saw. Can't imagine anyone being too interested in the Lancia, after all, seen one 037 you've seen them all...
What's that I hear the Britmodeller collective say, you do want to see the 037? Oh well, here goes
As you've probably all worked out by now, this wasn't in the local Tesco car park, but I have cheated too by going to Silverstone Classic. Unfortunately as I'm nearing my limit before I have to pay Flickr you'll need to follow this link to see more pics.

Hope you like them.
A Morris Ital with an Austin grille badge? Did I miss something, back in the day?
Love the 037, though!

Again small masterpiece from you. I like really Can-Am cars even most of them were just sidenote in motorsport.
Thanks very much. Can-Am was, IMHO, the last frontier of minimal regulations, and allowed designers a huge amount of freedom to "think outside the box", e.g. Chaparral, Shadow, etc.

Here's one I spotted in December '20.
Great looking car.

That engine looks really good. You have captured the colours of the gas turbine perfectly.

Another Strange Day.
Went to an Art Exhibiton, which was held in a barn on a farm in the darkest depths of Essex. Sitting having a coffee and stroking their dog when there was a loud noise outside, and itwas this...
By the registration, first reg'd in Scotland, although the new owner (only just got it) reckons it's always been Essex based. Right hand drive which apparently makes it rare. Note the two stop watches - methinks he does a bit of rallying in it. He said it doesn't like poodling, needs to be legging it to stop it flooding. Shortly after this, he opened the passenger door and there, sat on the passenger seat was...a bunch of bananas!!!
Don't think that exhaust is original!!
That is so cool! Must be worth a fortune as well.

That looks really good. As has been previously said, without photo references directly to hand no-one would notice any "inaccuracies". Great work. Looking forward to the rest of the build.

I think the blue will stand out a bit more than the brown - a greater contrast with the orange paintwork.

This is the Hepworth car, chassis 02 as driven by Pedro Rodriguez. Not sure where or when the photo was taken.
Looks to be in great condition, and very much like the Riverside '70 car, right down to the sponsor stickers. I love that attention to detail in restored cars.

Real rarity filling up in Reigate this morning, MG ZT T, (the 'touring ' or estate to the rest of us). Dark green on a 52 plate.
Its direct ancestor the Rover 75 always had a cetain following in estate form, not sure I've ever seen a ZT T before though.

A great combination of performance and practicality. I almost bought one, back in the day, but opted for a Skoda Octavia VRS instead.

You had me doubting myself, and the story, though I repeated it correctly, isn't quite right. David Hepworth, who owns at least one of the cars, said in 2009: "The myth that one car was lost to the sea is untrue and has been doing the rounds prior to my father passing away, it was however damaged on board a ship travelling to Brazil, and after much negotiation and subsequent costs the car was repatriated from the salvage company."
Thanks for the updated information.

Lovely work! This car used to run in Supersports (circa 1989?) and as I recall its sister car ended its days at the bottom of the Atlantic while being shipped to the US.

Thanks very much. I didn't know that one was lost at sea. Seems like a rather ignominious end for a racing car.
