  1. I actually finished my second kit for the year! This is Hasegawa's 1/144 YS-11, with the kit decals for Japan Air Commuter. Initially, I wasn't too thrilled with the overall-white scheme, but after I got the decals on it, I ended really liking this one. The decals had yellowed a bit since I bought the kit back in 1999, so I bleached them out in a sunny window for a few days, but I should have lest them sit in the sun a little longer. Anyway, it's nice to add another YS-11 to the shelf. It's my sixth YS-11 so far, and I have the seventh in progress
  2. The Stratos is definitely my all-time favorite Rally car, and it's great to see one dirtied up, and in its element! Nice job!
  3. Nice! Beautiful finish. I've always liked the look of the MP4/4. If I ever get around to building one, Yours will give me a benchmark to shoot for. Excellent work!
  4. Love it! Excellent work! That's probably my favorite mark of the Blenheim, and you're certainly done her proud.
  5. WOW! That's awesome! Looking at the photos, I can almost feel the hot sun beating down on me. I visited there many years ago, and you've done an amazing job capturing the feel of the boneyard!
  6. Great job. Russ! I love your paint, weathering, and presentation. Excellent all around!
  7. That's awesome! The Chinook looks great in that livery. A civil Chinook (okay, Model 234) is certainly a rarity. Very nicely done!
  8. Ooh, VERY nice! The paint is superb. Great choice of markings too! 😉
  9. Wow, that looks great! I've been trying to find one of those kits for a fair price, but they must not be on this side of the pond yet. Beautiful work on yours!
  10. Love it! I have a couple in the stash, and I'm anxious to get started. I really enjoy Amodel kits, but I wish the clear parts were better, especially cabin windows. You've done a great job!
  11. Nicely done! Such a great looking airplane!
  12. Beautiful job! The paint is awesome! The F189 was one of the best looking Grand Prix cars ever! If I ever get around to building this kit, I'll be happy if it looks even half as good as yours!
  13. Wow! Beautiful work! Your paint and weathering is awesome! Very, very impressive!
  14. Wow! Beautifully done! The markings are great, and your paint and finishing is perfect. I have a few of those kits buried in my stash somewhere, and after seeing yours, I think that I need to go dig one out!
  15. I'm still new here, and have only posted a few of my builds, but I realized that none of them were British subjects. Since the site IS BRITmodeller after all, I thought that I better post something British! As the title states, this is the old Airfix Vanguard kit. I did some simple rescribing on the wings and tail, reshaped the scoops on the undersides of the nacelles, and boxed in the wheel wells. I also wanted to do a livery that might be different than one normally seen on Vanguard kits. I used AHS decals, which were the thinnest decals I've ever experienced, and didn't want to move once they made contact with the model! Anyway, I was happy with the final outcome. Now it's time to get to work on my Welsh Models Viscount! Cheers, Corbin
  16. Great job! I really like that! Excellent paint, weathering, and overall finish!
  17. Wow! I LIKE that! Great job with the paint and weathering! You've really set the bar high if I ever get around to building mine!
  18. Here's another odd one from my shelf. As well as odd aircraft, I also have a thing for aircraft with twin booms, so this one hits two categories for me. The kit went together surprisingly well. Even though it's not very visible, I made a new pilot's seat, as the one in the kit seemed much too small. In the actual aircraft, the seat had better be comfortable for an airplane that can stay aloft for 40 hours! Cheers, Corbin
  19. Thanks for the compliments everyone! Jeroen, I have an embarrassing number of kits in progress, but the ones at the top of the pile are: Revell Corvette C7.R, Aoshima Daihatsu Copen, and Fujimi Aventador. How soon any of those actually gets finished is anyone's guess though! Cheers, Corbin
  20. Since I'm new here, I thought I would dig out some old builds of mine to share. I wanted it to be a simple out-of-the-box build, but that changed when I saw the body that was in the box. As far as I can tell, it was based on a prototype road car that was never produced. There are several differences between the kit's body, and the actual car. When Revell released a kit of the C5-R of the 2001 Daytona 24 hour race, I thought I could use that body for the LeMans car, because I prefer the yellow/white scheme better than the all-yellow scheme. Needless to say, that ended up not working either. I ended up using the front and rear of the Daytona kit, cut and spliced onto the Lemans center section (with some scoop modification). Also, the LeMans kit had terrible Revell decals, but the Daytona kit had very nice Cartograph decals, so I used those wherever possible. Anyway, enough talk, on to some photos... Cheers, Corbin
  21. Great job, Andy! I also have that kit, but it's a ways down the queue. I like the idea of a racing team having only female drivers! I have three daughters of my own, and it's nice to show them things like this. Cheers, Corbin
  22. Many thanks to everyone for the compliments! Markus, The paint I used was Mr. Color, thinned with their Leveling Thinner. It wasn't as smooth as I wanted (my fault completely), so I ended up doing some careful polishing with Micro Mesh pads. Finally, I gave it a light waxing, using a carnauba car wax. Cheers, Corbin
  23. I just joined this community yesterday, after lurking about for many years. I thought I'd go ahead and try posting some photos of my latest completion. I like odd aircraft, and this one certainly qualifies. The kit had pleasantly good fit, and only a few issues to address. The clear parts were reasonable clear, and distortion-free, but I still did some polishing on them. I'm glad to finally complete a model, and have another unusual subject on the shelf.
  24. Hello everyone! After many years of visiting this site to admire the great models and friendly community, I've finally decided to join! I build a little of everything - mostly aircraft (1/48, 1/72, 1/144), autos (1/24), motorcycles (1/12), some armor (1/35), and even the occasional ship (1/700). I also build paper models, but I'll leave those to another site. I keep buying kits, but rarely complete anything, so I've made peace with the fact that I'm more of a collector than a builder. I plan on trying to change that though, and seeing the great work people share here certainly inspires me to get cracking. It's good to be here, and I look forward to participating!
