  1. if your doing a Steel wheel anything Tiger then the small idler is needed..... they were a upgrade at the same time the steel wheels were fitted
  2. Late Tigers (steel wheels ) used the 600mm idler .....all tigers up till then used the 700mm idler ...so the smaller idlers for the Tamiya late are needed......
  3. it is......... hit me up will cast some in resin for ya
  4. Been working on two figures for the Tiger 213 base...... I use a very similar technique to the recent nightshift video and was going to do a tutorial but as he beat me to the draw I didn't see the point in treading the same ground..... Basics are a pre-shade of black and white acrylic undercoat then very light layers of opaque colour placed over the base......... the difference really to nightshift is that I mix my own colours and I use oils thinned with Abteilung 502 matt enamel thinner for the uniforms and flesh, the reason for this is that oils are much easier to make translucent and you have much much more working time to blend, the chap holding the pipe is nearly finished there is still some details to finish but finished enough to show, the other crewman is very early stages.....The near finished figure took 15 hours to get to here and probably another few hours to finish completely, something you don't see in the compressed timeline of the videos that nightshift does. I think that might be why some of us get a little frustrated with our figures, watching the vids can be a little misleading in that you would think such a small model should only take 3-4 hours to do when in fact the process is much more intense and precise to do. So I think we are all capable of great figures if we can just rap our heads around the time they take .......... anyway here they are still not nightshift level but still rather nice I think and certainly looking like grubby tankers Not been on very much lately as my SSD lunched itself and the OS of my pooter .........but its back up and running now .
  5. sitting on the shelf at the moment as i had a list of bits i wanted for it and can't afford ............plus another two Tigers i want to get done first...nice kit though...
  6. Well this is coming along well mate......so S02 is now the subject, did wonder if you might go with her as she is well documented and at least in my opinion a better and more interesting subject...i notice on the pic above she has some road wheels missing ...an interesting thing to depict....well worn and beaten always makes for a great weathering challenge too...............i really am looking forward to this.
  7. Sorry bud didnt mean to upset you................... Don't know if Ursula rings a bell....Panther GB ............well that was a costly one too for me but it was my friends on here making me see the funny side that aloud me to move on, was hoping to do the same for you too........... the only difference between yours and mine was at least you had something to save ..........anyway progress is looking very nice indeed the mud layers are beautiful especially the normally hard to do right upper surfaces............on point for another stunning build.
  8. Met Tony a few times in the past ...really nice guy and a fantastic model maker ...loves his Tigers
  9. OOOOHHH i bet there was some blue language bouncing around the workshop then......perhaps a name change from Redcoat ....to say ....butterfingers love ya bud
  10. This is the one knocked out by 3RTR by a Comet i believe..... a tense battle from what i have read.
  11. Possibly...definitely a command vehicle..and by the looks of it meant to be that way from the factory as the mantlet doesn't look like it was plugged but never drilled in the first place.....nice big patch on the glacis ...took a hit at some point Looks like an earlier hull too from the non scalloped towing pintle and the narrow mudguard still has the binocular sights for the driver too...although the mudguard looks like it could be a field fix
  12. i think there BT series vehicles but it is hard to see and i'm no expert with Russian military vehicles.....they could be British lend lease stuff ...whatever they look like Christie suspension.
  13. F01 is seen as red because up until fairly recently the man you see climbing up to the turret was still alive and clearly stated that the numbers were red inside a white outline As for F13 experts in photo manipulation and the knowledge of the type of film used to capture the picture have led to the conclusion that it was not red.... honestly with F13 a lot of it is going to be speculation...i've seen arguments for the chassis being dark green and even panzer grey....and the numbers from red to dunkelgelb ...honstly im more likely to listen too photo experts and eye wittnesses than model enthusiasts......it should be noted that the film stock used in very many cases during this time was not able to pick up red and was designed to pick out blues greens and so on, this can lead to reds being all sorts of shades in black and white which is why it is so hard to say whether a part was painted red or not.....the film gets confused if you like.
  14. large shovel on the bow plate, spare track on lower hull front, and will have to double check but i'm pretty sure it only had the one headlight and mount on the right side looking from the front and starter crank plate looks like it's laying horizontal rather than vertical also think its a two colour scheme of 6003 and 7028 or equivalent for that period but that will probably be on the decal instructions .....otherwise mate i would say your good to go. Oh and don't forget the bucket
  15. It was attached via a standard towing mount on the lower rear of the Tiger............so yes
  16. It's ....... How to build steel wheeled Tiger 1 revised edition by Angus Creighton.....not sure its still in print or not but bein you are a heathen colonist in the land of the free i'm sure if your gonna find a copy itll be there.
  17. Some stuff that might help...... First from DW to Tiger 1.....Doyle and Jentz and continues Now these photos are from a model book which i haven't had time to scan into my collection so apologies if there hard to make out...... And these are from a Japanese book and so the text is all but useless unless you can read their language but does show relative position of all the antennas and the close up is of the antenna mount for the side of the hull (E) H.....no coaxial gun and hole plugged and welded G......periscope removed and aperture welded closed F.....pistol port welded closed E...... side mount for large antenna D..... antenna pot C...roof antenna A...... opposite antenna mount The pic below is the side mount on the hull (E) the upper pic on this is the top part of the bracket in its stowed position 1.....Exhaust vent for extra generator 2.... connector point for the large antenna 3.....Upper bracket (stowed) 4.....Lower bracket
  18. This kinda peed me off a bit .....this guy has a habit of strangely doing the same as me at the same time...when i did Jagdtiger 331 he did it just a few days later Then i was gonna do my Meng Jagdpanther just after i made that decision he released the first part of his jagd build ...worse it was the same vehicle .....now this ....wanted to do a figure tutorial for here but he has beaten me too it again...been doing uniforms this way for a while...and it is fairly simple...you can even do it with oils if you want the extra time to blend and fade colours together..guess i don't need to bother now..................damn you uncle nightshift.........
  19. Think that it's safe to say 423 needed a new mantlet and sighting equipment......and the gunner a new set of teeth and a trip to specsavers
  20. I would guess that's because they didn't last long ..... and were knocked out before they ever got to the hands of the field workshop companies.....
  21. Taken from Doyle and Jentz DW-Tiger 1 ..the history of the Tiger tank........so yes the brackets were fitted but the dischargers were not available at the time of production
  22. Interesting ...look closely at this footage right at the beginning of this film and at first glance they look like Tigers ...freeze the film though.....
  23. I have 4-5 pictures of 003 and none of them show the smoke launchers fitted just the welded brackets and the bolts that would have had secured the dischargers...i would say that they were probably removed at some point...that said there are no tell tale marks on the brackets that would suggest they were ever fitted..... i could be wrong but if memory serves there were only two Tiger (P) ever sent to combat and both didn't last very long.
