  1. It took me a bit long to print this part as it allowed me to calibrate the new Sonik 4K printer with the Elegoo resin I use. So I was able to compare the Mono X which has nothing to envy to the Phrozen Sonik mini 4K, I will do a new test with the Phrozen resin later. Here is the result at 1/72 for this small 13.2 quadruple mount which is only 24mm. At this scale the details are clear. It's quite successful. I would make a 1/48 test. The placement of the support pylons was tricky because there are many of them and the shapes are complex. I still have some cleaning to do. My setting for the Phrozen Sonik Mini 4K 3D printer for Elegoo grey resin:
  2. Nice assembly! Just one remark: The garden benches are disproportionately large, they look like children sitting on them. Scale problem? A Pontos accessory?
  3. That's it, this cannon is finished. Just have to make a test print at 1/72, then at 1/48 for me. It will join my collection at 1/48. I still have a 5 inches gun to make for my T2 tanker, a gun also quite complicated... I'll have to simplify it. 13.2 mm quad mount / Hotchkiss machine guns: Transparent background. On the salt lake! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  5. Tks for informations! I just spent 2 days on this part of the ship to almost finish it, I'm missing stairs coming from the Arsenal 2.0 (White Ensign), I know it doesn't show much... The rigging is always a part... of pleasure. You have to take your time and start again if it's not at the level of what you want. I used the stretched plastic method for a rigging, it was a first, it works well, and I have the expected effect of bending with the wind. To be renewed. A tutorial: Prints of the deck rings and masts and cleats. It's getting smaller and smaller... I also started the design of a very French 13.2 mm quadruple anti-aircraft gun (Affuts Hotchkiss) at 1/72 which will be found on Japanese IJN ships as well... It's for a friend, I wouldn't have the use of it for the moment. In terrestrial too: A small point tonight on this drawing. I've made good progress, although I'm missing some visual information about the base, so I have to improvise, but I can't be far away, moreover, there are a lot of models a little bit different... Once you understand the mechanisms that animate the whole thing, it's already easier.
  6. Thanks Richard and Andreas, I have a friend in France who is going to print me several 48 stars flag decal plate and also the blue-and-white flag on the forecastle, today. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. You have the same defect as me of mould on the bow. But this is the only.
  8. Good continuation Steve, it's going to be exciting for you and for us!
  9. Tks Rob! Some pictures of the beginning of the rigging of the load masts, 2 to 3 hours of work for one piece, still 4... But it will go faster for the others, the layout is defined as well as the procedures. The rigging of the masts is assembled with 0.121mm Infinity IR1101B lycra wire, a very good product. The panoply of the good bosun...
  10. Thanks Kev; After discussions with friends, it seems that they are Oerlikon 20 mm guns with or without protective shield. The screen being fixed, it was of little use apart from hindering the gunner to see the target. On small units, there was sometimes no shield. [/url] Kennebec class: Escambia class:
  11. Tks ! I reprinted 3 times, the boat rack and the gangway, not being satisfied with the result, by my fault. The fact that the printer takes half the time to print helps to reprint again. I also test the printer to know its extreme limits, we come to the conclusion that it is the resin that reaches the end of its mechanical resistance for small details, the printer is really effective at this level. I had to increase the diameter of the tubes because it was well printed with the rings to pass the end, but really too fragile during handling to pass the thread through the ring, worse than a thread in a needle . I represent the gangway, at the sea station, it is rarely, the tubes and the ropes are disassembled. But it is prettier that way and it is more visible in its corner. I still have the hose park to design. Some paint touch-ups to do on the boats, the black boot toping. The lashing bars for the boats are to be designed as well, I have rings on the supports for the lashing. Painting boot toping today, manufacturing the support of the LVCP, and the gripping bars of the two boats, installing the decals of the boats, one by one. Under the utility boats, a raft can be seen to do paint touch-ups along the hull, homemade with 200 liter drums. We made a few like this too. ๐Ÿ˜
  12. I should receive the Phrozen sonic 4K in the next few days I hope, I will give you a comparative test. I have already received the Photon S and the Mono X recently. Mail from Phrozen, i ordered the 31 august..
  13. About this aerial view of the AO-87 Sebec: one of the most important photos as documentation for this project, I didn't have the image in high resolution and therefore we couldn't see clearly some details like the armament, last night I found them on Wikimedia simply in very good quality. Clic two time to enlarge: So I was able to analyze the weaponry, there is still a blur on the type of the 4 guns on the upper bridge of the middle castle, 4 Oerlikon 20 mm with no protection plate ? I cannot distinguish their protection shield, or simple machine guns ? The details. I'm going to try to add this block on the front deck where the winch of the mast is placed, I had not seen this detail ... You can also see the storage along this block of probable fenders that are used during the refueling at sea, they are called "Baby fenders". You can see them placed along the hull on the other picture. At the back of the front platforms of the central deck, near the canoe, we can see the gangway, also to be added. A nice picture. I made a summary: Oerlikons without protective shield on other ships: I have finished the half-platforms. Paintings of the utility boats, still the booting top to be painted, crown buoys to be placed, bers to be redone, not high enough now. Cargo mast supports to draw.
  14. I printed pulleys today, which would not have been possible with the other printer at least as accurately. Printed some new mast booms, the others were too long, this picture helped me a lot to know the exact length. I printed new higher fittings to raise the load masts a bit low because of the storage platforms. I can pass the wires directly into the sheave without having to drill the pulleys again, a big improvement! I couldn't resist reprinting two utility boats with the new printer. Although I had finished one completely with its support, paint and weathering... They are much better of course. I'm going to put two. But that's not the only reason, because I realized that the scale of the first ones was not good, when Chitubox printed them, the size increased by about 10%, I hadn't measured the first utility boat printed, until I printed another one with the other printer, it's by putting them side by side that I realized this "bug" ... ๐Ÿ˜œ I still haven't found the reason. Manufacture of the forward platforms:
  15. I use the Elgoo resin, best than the Anycubic, cheaper, no smell, you can rinse with water ou alcool and after water. A good product. Anti-aliasing was in the mid range. Uv Exposure is shorter with Mono X that why. The UV are less diffused next to.
  16. What's better than drilling holes in a German boat with a German drill machine? ๐Ÿ˜‚
  17. Another test of Mono X, Different scale of this plate, same setting then Photon S, file, slicing program is different only, i use Photon Workshop instead Chitubox not compatible yet with Mono X. The smallest plate measures 3cm wide.
  18. ๐Ÿ˜‚ If you want to make only small parts, Mike, the Phrozen Sonic 4K I also ordered ( I should receive it in the next few days, also ordered pre-order from them in Taiwan) should be much better than the Mono X, because you go from 50 microns to 35 microns rรฉsolution in monochrome too. The stage is smaller than the Photon S. I bought the Mono X to make large parts like ship hulls. More here : https://phrozen3d.com/products/sonic-mini-4k-resin-3d-printer-phrozen
  19. I received the Anycubic Mono X 3D printer. I was able to test . Beautiful machine! Very heavy, which is a good sign for the stiffness. The result is a little more precise. You can see it. The vertical surfaces are cleaner. It is two machines from the same manufacturer running at the same resolution of 50 microns. Only the LCD screen is different, one color for the Photon S and one monochrome for the Mono X. The faces of the object have a good surface rendering, this is a problem with the Photon S. The size of the plate is impressive as well as the printing height. This will facilitate the printing of the shells. I bought this machine for this reason, not expecting a better quality. From the same file (7 cm large) I had some problems to connect the wifi, solved by the hotline this morning: There is a nice error in the installation manual of the Wifi provided in the PDF on the USB key: Anycubic released a video correcting this error. Attention! upper and lower case must be respected, even in the SSID, name of your wifi network. In the Anycubic App on my Iphone. I also had a problem typing the IP address of the printer, on the numeric keyboard, there is a comma instead of a dot, which is not compatible with the IP address. The solution is to write the ip address in the box above "name" and copy and paste it in the IP address box.
  20. Fabrication of the central deck piping, 3D printing instead of Evergreen at the front. The valve handwheel, flanges, are very well taken out, draw to a diameter of 0.25 mm for the handwheel torus, layer of 30 microns with the Mono X. Really top.
