  1. Yeah that last shot basically looks like a 100% real car, a build simply doesn't get any better than that 👍👍👍

  19. Hi guys, At the suggestion of another member I'm posting in this welcome sub-forum with a little intro and a few pics, having been a long time lurker. My name's Mark, hence the forum nickname, and I'm also a qualified pilot hence the "Captain" in my forum nickname (it was literally my real world nickname actually). I live in Australia but have lived in the UK for almost a decade prior. I've been building scale models of all kinds for a few decades now, and like all awesome modelers I'm proud to have a least a dozen models started and unfinished on the shelf demanding to be completed at some point in the far flung future... 😜😎 In 2009 I tested my patience to its absolute limit pushing for total perfection (and still missed... 🙄) with a 1/20 multimedia Formula 1 kit and managed to pull of a State-level first place win. 👊 (see pictures below.) Since then I've put perfection on the backburner and given my patience a rest and I just build for the fun of it, and if something stuffs up then my care factor is essentially nil (although my OCD is pinging off the damn scale... 🤬). I'll let my pictures do the talking now... like I said, not total perfection, but if I do say so myself I think I'm doing alright... 1/20 Wolf Models Redbull RB1 Star Wars livery (multimedia kit from Italy, 1 of 100 ever made) 2009 State Competition Winner The base I created on Photoshop, had it printed on glossy photo paper at a department store, and put into a picture frame bought at the same department store. 1/20 Studio27 BAR006 (multimedia kit from Japan) This was my first ever full multimedia built, it was almost the end of me... and it was also my favourite build of all time. 😎 For interest sake, the red livery around the airbox/intake and cockpit is all decal, about 30-40 pieces of it... 😬 I'd have to say that the Studio27 decals are the best I've ever worked with. We've all been there... 1/144 Revell FA-18C Hornet This was my first military jet kit built as an adult when my skills were a little more polished. I have actually finished it but it's packed away and these are the only pics I have of the really attractive livery. The only real problem with this kit was the super thick decals, but otherwise it was a heap of fun and will be the first of many military jets I'll no doubt build. 👍 MPC Y-Wing I bought this kit a couple of decades ago on Ebay for something like $3... cheap as chips. The base on the other hand cost me a mint. But as you know, when it comes to models... we gotta have what we gotta have, and the wife can go g... well you get the gist... It's a pretty rudimentary kit and the colours I chose aren't strictly legit, but with my lesser skills at the time I like how it came out. This was pretty much my first attempt at any kind of weathering too. 1/144 Minicraft Boeing 757 My first airliner build (with more in the stash!) that had fitment issues all over the place, but I got there in the end. Aftermarket decals from DrawDecal and it's just waiting on the aftermarket resin engines. 👍 The base is a printed off piece of A4 trimmed to fit into a cheap picture frame. 1/20 Modeler's Jordan J199 (multimedia kit from Japan) This is my current nemesis 👿💀, it's just been one problem after another which has been a consistent trend across all the multimedia builds I've done. One way or another though I'm going to force this s.o.b to conform and turn into something awesome... 💪 Me... Lastly a shot of me preparing for a standard airbrushing session 😜 haha actually it's a shot for a piece I'm writing, but yeah I guess modeling can sometimes do this to the best of us on the odd occasion... Cheers all!
  20. Excellent build mate, seeing how well some of you build these piston engine'd warbrids always makes me want to go out and buy a few kits... of course I'll need to buy a bigger house to accommodate all my kits, but you know... 'details'. 😎
  21. I think the silly-season of driver musical chairs is going to be pretty epic over the coming months... although my money is on Sainz getting the seat. 😎 I can't see Alonso going back there given his split from Ferrari was apparently not so rosy. Still, stranger things have happened.
  22. Now that is outstanding, very well done on the creativity and overall finish! 10/10 👊
  23. Fantastic start John, it's certainly big even in 1/72!! Will be keeping an eye on your build. 👍
  24. Thanks for the link to those metallic sheets Ian, I might check them out and see how they stack up against the Bare Metal Foil product. 👍
  25. Great job on the paint work and camouflage pattern, that's always a challenge! 👍
