  1. I've got a 1/144th one on the back burner based on the Airfix kit and F-RSIN conversion
  2. I suppose what I meant was - Was primer paint actually grey-green in shade? I know that cockpits were that colour, but that wasn't (As far as I remember) specifically a primer paint (In the same way that aluminium paint used in the same places) Were metal parts given a coat of grey/green before the camouflage?
  3. Grey green could be right depending on the timescale!!
  4. Was grey green used as a primer on metal areas? I thoughtthey tended to be yellow chromate?
  5. No, what you said was: I was paraphrasing for comic effect, as an exaggeration of some of the trivial points that people were flapping about. My apologies if I caused offence. It may just be a perception thing - to me the cockpit door not being aligned is of no consequence because I would never think to model it open
  6. I do recall a theory (which may be more pertinent to the 1/72 kit) that the Tamyia wing was in error because they started the curve of the ellipse at the wing root rather than the centre line.
  7. Was introduced in 1939 IIRC, but I'd need to check. It was withdrawn in Admiralty Orders in 1943 or 1944 (But remained in the Air Ministry docs)
  8. Get a piece of the sprue that the canopy cane from, then sharpen it to a chisel point. Use it to scrape the paint off. Usually works without scratching the canopy. The Oven cleaner would be my alternative
  9. I refer to it occasionally for the Lynx shots. If only the Cessna shots were larger........:-)
  10. Nice, especially the Alpha. Can't say I like the Qinetiq|IX logo though..........
  11. There is no funnel, motor or drive mechanism - very unusual for a Hornby product of a 30s proptotype.
  12. I see the bashing over minor trivialities (and wrong perceptions) has started on HS. AAAARGH The kit is a disaster as the cockpit door hinge is lower on inside than on the outside! The inhumanity of it!!!
  13. That was one reason I went for the D50 rather than the D40 (That and the fact I got a twin lens set for the same price), as the fact that the D40 doesn't autofocus with non-AF-S lenses, which limited the aftermarket purchasing options. Also, I felt the D40 was just too small for my larger hands.
  14. Hopefully with a big fanfare for the type completing 70 years continual military service. I must say I look forward to the first black Alpha Jet....
  15. Saw it in the Press one day (Friday or Saturday)
  16. Shape wise, I always thought the re-tooled Matchbox was the best.
  17. Very useful Jens. You can pick up 1Gb Sandisk Ultra memory cards on Amazon for £6 each.
  18. Equally, have a look at 'Chico' LO-C in image 42 in that series, and image 34 of the flying aircraft I need to get the History of 603 book out the library again........
  19. I thought the roof was meant to be 'detachable' on the original plan.
  20. You could try an Expo blade, which I think are made to fit the Xacto handle http://www.expotools.com/
  21. I waited until I could actually buy one from an RNLI shop (Whitby in this case) so that more of the profit could go to them (As usual, We spent a fortune in the RNLI station, but that's another story.....) Actually, I didn't buy it, as my father-in-law insisted on buying it as a present! So, has anyone actually built it? Tips, hints? One positive result already - my daughter has asked to help build it!
  22. Don't use them in Handles! As Edgar says, they have no strength and will crinkle! Used as 'hand held' they are not bad. My favourites of that type are the ex-Trimaster ones now sold by Hasegawa. Sold as 'scribing saws' you can use them fro scribing or for very fine cuts. The 'razor blade' saw that comes from the Czech republic (?) that Drewe and others use also looks the part.
  23. It was - it's now become the RAF's UAV Squadron = one flight will operate the Reapers, another will be the existing UK 1115 Flight on the Predator program (http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/uav.cfm). The comment about not being armed is interesting, as the attack option has always been mentioned.
  24. I was going to say that! - And I saw the test shot! Re the undersides of the 603 Aircraft - 602 at the same base had a mix of aircraft with just the wings in B/W and some with the whole underside.
