  1. And you hope not colour blind!
  2. I got mine from Abbey models in Dunfermline. Interestingly he has the paint chart (which has PRU blue on it) but the actual colours don't go up that high! the shades on the chart are strange - the MSG looks like EDSG
  3. That's scary! So did I! (Also bought Signal red, but that's for another project with my daughter for a red jet!!)
  4. for some parts - those that are small and easily lost, those that are a separate colour. Similarly, parts that you won't reach when the aircraft is built but can be seen. For the main airframe colours, it's usally best to paint them after you have assembled them. One tip I would give is to treat each model as a learning process - and don't give up if it doesn't look like one by Skii or Drewe!! There are all levels in the hobby, and like everything else getting better takes practice! I've been modelling 34 years and still make mistakes!
  5. What was the book that went with it called?
  6. IIRC there was an article in the Old Scale Models series on 100 Group that explained what all the antennae were.
  7. www.ipmstockholm.org Has very goo dpaint comparison charts
  8. Yes, AFAIK the aircraft was in USAAF markings. There was an article a couple of years back in Aeroplane after the re-discovery of the wreck
  9. L-5 Sentinels and C-45 Expediters as well
  10. The only ones I can remember which were that explicit were the time they released the ex-Frog moulds, and the Matchbox 1/76th range.
  11. I always find it amusing that the best sub-48th Lightning and Buccaneer kits are the 30 year old Tamyia 1/100th kits (Got Revell issues of both)
  12. I'm not holding my breath - the orders haven't been placed yet. And CVA-01 was under construction when scrapped. Mind you, final assembly will be about three miles from here! Unless they are building a new bridge!
  13. 6 is due to reform nexct year at Conningsby then move to Leuchars, then the Leuchars Squadrons (which may or may not be 111 and 43) are due to take on Typhoon in 2010/12
  14. I've got PU resin AFV kits that are 20 years old with nosign of warping or loss of detail. I do recall a theory that if the resin/hardener mix is not spot on the resin effectively remains a liquid and will evenetually lose detail.
  15. 25 and 56 are due to disband in the next tweleve months - no doubt the numbers will be assigned elsewhere if deemed appropriate. Had heard there may be a shuffling of numbers to accomodate 56 (As when 229 OCU was re-designated from 65). They are now assigning Squadron numbers to units that previously had 'permanent non-squadron status' e.g. 76 Squadron replacing TANS
  16. Bruce, I may have stuff from the old FAA sig somewhere, IIRC that's one of the points raised
  17. Isn't it interesting how these books elicit differing responses from different people! I looked at the early one sand they didn't have anything that I didn't have elsewhere, or was all that interested in. I have the Lancaster one, as I didn't have anything that detailed the various marks comprehensively, and it had details of the ASR Lifeboat attachment point. I have to say I think it's a good book, but my critisism is that most of the detail photos are far too small - I think they have tried to cram too much in in making it a 'one stop shop' with in a price range. I'd happily see less of the 'modelling' and profile pages for bigger photos
  18. I like your Fokker streaky finish
  19. You are going to hate me for saying this, but the grey wraps in for a few inches then goes white/grey
  20. Did you see the end of season one where he claims to have been a spaceship captain? There are a few Shatner jokes that would be decidely un-PC these days!! As an aside, Celitc FC once signed a Brazillian centre back called Scheidt. They also had Olivier Tebiley at the time. the joke was if they signed David Weir, they would have a back line of: Weir Tebily Scheidt Having not learnt their lesson, they were recently linked with French Defender Fanni (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/6234992.stm). This is inspite of having another central defender called Balde..............
  21. Skyflash was always grey with a white nose cap
  22. Of the mainstream kits, the Matchbox one is by far the best. Sand off the overscale raised detail and it looks fine. It really needs a shom of 20 thou card on the underside to beef that up, but that's about it. Shapes on the Hasegawa kit are way off around the nose and spine.
  23. No, it's virtually an entirely different aircraft
  24. Warning triangle looks a bit overscale..............
