  1. No, there were actually three Tornado fuel tanl sizes - can't remember the quantities off the top of my head, but the original IDS was planned to have had two sizes - one subsonic and one supersonic. The 'supersonic' ones were smaller than the other ones. They were flown on the pre-production aircraft, but never entered service (with the RAF - not sure about Italy and Germany, but I think not) but they lurked about in some kits originating when the aircraft was still in development
  2. Anyone got any idea what the internal colour would be for the cabin? Airfix don't help!
  3. Chances are MPM will do an F6 at some point anyway........
  4. In the case of the Hudson, yes. There are images of Hudson artifacts that clearly show the interior colour to be Grey green - take into account it's a US colour and 60 years old! Hudson on Ben Lui (NB that's not me - just a linked picture) http://www.scotcrash.homecall.co.uk/site24.htm I'd need to look up the rest!
  5. ARTF being Alkaline Removable Temporary Finish - paint formulation that washes off with an alkali solution after use (but not if you paint over it in an non-ARTF paint, as they found out after the Gulf War when all the nose art refused to come off!!
  6. The irony is that after years of delays and problems, the guns finally seemed to be on the verge of working when the whole project was scrapped as the RAF saw the Harrier force role as medium level bombing.
  7. Actually, the GR5 entered service with No 1 in November 1988, and was declared operational in November 1989
  8. Jonathan's site has some http://web.ukonline.co.uk/jonathan.mock/ia...tures/lynx.html
  9. And of course you can also add the Aeronavale, albeit in prototype form.
  10. Not Amazon - that's an Amazon Seller ( 3rd party seller using Amazon's uinfrastucture, ordering etc) Got a few bargains that way (Duncan Curtiss RAF Sabre book new for £6, 1Gb SD card for £5), but the prices are variable
  11. It fit's Hornby's marketing pattern with Railways - 'First Look' of new prototypes (Often at SL stage) is usually in ModelRail or similar. Helps keep the relationship.
  12. Had heard there was test shots in the country, now who will spike SAMI's scoop?
  13. The other known HFVIIs at Skaebrae were MB763, MB828, MD114, MD118, MD122 and MD138
  14. There were some 'c' wing aircraft modified to 'e' wing, can't recall the exact details
  15. There is another picture taken from the front in (I think) Spitfire at War 3. Key thing to watch for is the pressurised canopy &pressurisation intake.
  16. Not sure if Clostermann flew that aircraft, but he probably did. (It was certainly Ian Blair that shot down the Bf109) One of the the extant pictures is here: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=74176 Note the aircraft was on the Station Flight books and used their 'DU' code Colour scheme was medium Sea Grey over PRU blue with a low demarcation line
  17. Here's a mad idea - elevate 1435 Flt to Squadron status again! PS Thanks for reminding me I have the Jefford book somewhere!!
  18. Tactical on the uppers & sides, D on the lower surfaces (Think Hercules) (along with serials). I'd say missiles should be white for early 70s, green for late.
  19. No, when the DSG was added it was overall. Hence why the Black Buck aircraft were painted DSG on the underside Actually, the first never existed either. Vulcan colours were MSG/DG/White then MSG/DG/LACG then DSG/DG overall
  20. Interesting post as always XV107. The precedent of squadrons effectively becoming 'numberplate only' whilst not disbanding is not uncommon of course, 6 only being the latest (216 notably springs to mind). You have the advantage of having access to information not widely available in the public domain (Although I'm sure if you ask MOD/AHB they could provide the rules). The disappearance of 16 Squadron is slightly intruiging, as is 10 Squadron (Slated for the A400M or A330 I beleive), although not sure where in the order of seniority they lie. I did hear a rumour that 78 would be reformed on Merlin HC3As, with the Sea Kings in the Falklands being reduced to a flight - meaning two RAF Support helo Tiger Squadrons!
