F-40 had extended wing tip AND the 6 - 3 chord extension. So not suitable for RAF or Canadair mk 6 out the box - shorter mk 6 wing would be relatively simple cut and shut

Cyberhobby/Revell Sea Vixen question
Dave Fleming replied to Adam Poultney's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Had a quick look and I can’t find the thread that discussed this, but my memory is that whilst the kit has the glazing for the original and later bulged observer’s hatch, it only has the plastic surround for the my 2 -
Cyberhobby/Revell Sea Vixen question
Dave Fleming replied to Adam Poultney's topic in Aircraft Cold War
The area over the observer’s hatch is different. I think there was a discussion about this in the rumour monger thread -
Rear fuselage as others have mentioned, they also obtained a slghtly 'grubby' look, as well as having the 'patches' on the upper wings where the re-wiring was done to enable them to carry sidewinders https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205190486 https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205190563 This pic gives an idea of the effects (Different aircraft)

1/72 F-86 kit with F-40 long wing? (for Norwegian Sabre)
Dave Fleming replied to opus999's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Yeah, the kit was always meant to be a mk 6 -
Just realised the captions on the Key article are in the wrong photos. Edited above with full IDs

The article might be behind the paywall, but the image link isn't! Not the same aircraft, but certainly in the same scheme - this is VZ578/R This shot form the same article gives me more questions - what's the grey? Just very weathered DSG (with a 'new' aircraft behind), or a variation on the MSG/Dark Slate Grey scheme? or a hybrid with MSG and Dark Green over aluminium. (EDit - aircraft is VZ604, which was V with 208 between 5/57 and 3/58) Just to throw another into the mix It's a bit weird, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't! I couldn't see the whole article when I followed the link, but by googling it I could! https://www.key.aero/article/low-leve-recce

My only quibble with the Vintage Classic range is the strict 'original decal subjects only' - it would be nice to see some alternatives, like the perhaps an RAF or Royal Navy Heron. (In fact at one point the Heron kit did have an RAF option)

Parts for a GA11/PR11 as well

We still don't have a mainstream 1/72 Seafire of any type/

Curtiss Tomahawk 349 Belgian Squadron RAF 1943
Dave Fleming replied to stevehnz's topic in Aircraft WWII
There were a few in Europe in the Army Co-Operation squadrons - the wing that's at the museum in Sunderland appeared to have grey grey over it;s dark Earth when originally recovered http://www.yorkshire-aircraft.co.uk/aircraft/planes/dales/ah744b.jpg -
Curtiss Tomahawk 349 Belgian Squadron RAF 1943
Dave Fleming replied to stevehnz's topic in Aircraft WWII
This pic of a Tomahawk was allegedly taken at Takoradi, so the idea of a Desert camouflaged aircraft in West Africa is not unlikely. Could be on delivery, it depends if Desert aircraft were repainted before being shipped to West Africa or on arrival there THE DESERT AIR FORCE, 1943. © IWM (TR 824) IWM Non Commercial License -
No, at least not on the production aircraft. The only variations were in codes and squadron markings, and some had a black nose cap!

New 1/72 metal-wing Hurricane I from Arma Hobby -- Released!
Dave Fleming replied to Procopius's topic in The Rumourmonger
Kudos to Eduard, my replacement wheels arrived this morning -
P1127 kit is interesting, it sat in the range alongside the Harrier kit until they switched to blister packaging, then (apparently) as the 1127 didn't fit into the blister pack, it was dropped from the range. Then, in the 80s, rumours spread (and published by Arthur Ward in his history book) that the 1127 mold had been destroyed/lost and second hand prices shot up (I paid £30 in 88 for one!). I then heard late 90s that the mould was still in existence, and Humbrol were pondering a re-release. This happened in 2000, Humbrol re-released it in the short-lived Series 0 (in a Series 1 box)

Curtiss Tomahawk 349 Belgian Squadron RAF 1943
Dave Fleming replied to stevehnz's topic in Aircraft WWII
I had a look, but I don't seem to have saved that photo. (or at least if I did I haven't filed it properly!) -
I really might break my 1/72 only vow for this. Love the gazelle. Couple of points on the colour schemes, the AAC aircraft (With the Aussie roundels ) should be olive and black, not two shades of olive, and the early Sharks scheme with the black tail had dayglo red/orange fuselages, not red.

No, just that apparently was for a kit and it wasn't one of the big companies

I don't think so - their 1/48th kit was obviously based on the Airfix kit and the 1/72 had some Trumpeter like qualities, but correcting some of errors in that kit

Other than Academy AFVs, they haven’t reboxed anyone else’s aircraft for a long time. And Heller’s for even longer

I have heard from a couple of usually reliable sources that this IS for a kit manufacturer but not one of the big/well known ones. No names!

They do from time to time, but not with RAF markings.
