  1. Thats some cracking detail work Jens, very fine touch with the wiring and cabling . Very nice indeed - see that pencil work ? thats PLANNING that is boys and girls
  2. Thanks for the comments peeps, John - its the old re-boxed esci kit, so the surface detail is engraved and as good as I've seen on an injection moulded model, the only fault with the kit is the AV-8A seat, the cockpit rear needs some considerable surgery to fit a Mk10 bang seat. Lovely little kit on the whole - highly recommended
  3. I've voted.... being a blowtorch kinda bloke..
  4. Well this was fairly quick build a few months back for the ARC Falklands Group Build, Italeri 1/72 with Aeroclub white metal seat and decals very generously supplied by our very own Rory. The Aim-9Ls were trimmed down to the missile body and new fins scratched from thin plastic card, and the mdc cord part painted over the moulded canopy version and part yellow decals cut up finely.
  5. I get them too sometimes Merv, don't worry - the numbness soon wears off
  6. WOW That is good Kyrre, DAMN good. bloody fantastic camouflage john
  7. someone needs to tell Wiki then! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAC_TSR-2
  8. Absolutely, nowt wrong with Tomcats, in moderation Thats a particularly excellent example Darren, the atmosphere of the diorama is excellent, love it ! John
  9. Hi chris I built the same version as Sean years ago but converted it using Accurate Armours Challenger 1 sideskirts and scratchbuilt details, the tracks seemed a little tight but it isn't a problem as with the side armour and sand skirts on there is very little track on view. That turret rear is a bloody pain though ! John

    Tornado Brimstones

Great shots Neil - any plans to produce these in resin (I know you've probably been asked this a lot ) John
  12. link not working for me Darius
  13. Beautiful work on those 2 Falcon, the orange tipped version looks particularly striking. Love the canopy tint on the background one - it looks spot on!
  14. Hey I built this one too ! I never realised Airfix re-boxed the 1/35 Trumpeter kit, its a nice kit apart from the really fiddly assemblies like the mantlet laser rangefinder and turret rear. Lovely build Sean, lovely paintwork too. John
  15. Ive heard various versions of that Lightning chase plane v TSR.2 with only one afterburner lit scenario - did it really leave a Lightning standing? seems unlikely given the Lightnings staggering performance. PS - lovely kitbash on that Panavia 100 Geoff
  16. Hi Jens, I must admit I haven't noticed it up till now, mind you I think the all-black radome does tend to enhance the size a little, and the photos increase the size of it with the perspective. I always thought of the Tornado nose as tapering quite rapidly at the mid point to the pitot, It would be interesting to compare the kit profile with a photo or plan, as in some photos it does indeed seem quite bulbous! John
  17. Hi Merv Yeah I hollowed out the rear and ran a couple of flare tubes made from the electrical wire insulation from a PC fan inside, reference material was pretty sketchy at the time but I'm hoping it was a fair approximation ! John
  18. Yep - that'll go on the 'definate to-do' list Mike
  19. Might be Merv, In all honesty I'm not sure as I got the serial number wrong and managed to pick a GR1 that was never actually updated to GR4 spec :whistling: Yeah I did, I like to do this on my models as it gives me more control over how pronounced they are - well it seemed to work this time anyway Pretty much, yes, the Italeri boxing will give you a pretty good representation out of the box, the ONLY fault with the kit is the forward base of the fin which is too narrow and slightly mishapen - I couln't honestly tell the difference from side-on, but a from a front view there is a difference. The Paragon fin correction part corrects this, and replaces the first inch or so of the tail fin. Other than that its resin for enhanced detail's sake, but there are wonderful examples of the Italeri Fin OOB floating around, plus its been recently re-released by Italeri, so its readily available again and damn cheap ! PS - watch the assembly around the air intakes/LERX. its fiddly....

    Revell Aqua

Thats excellent news Bill, looks like I'll be placing a small order with you soon John
  21. Well I guess its high time this old Chestnut re-appeared - this is my GR4 I built a couple of years ago, converted from the (very good) 1/48 Italeri IDS kit with all the beautiful resin goodies from Paragon (thanks Neil) and parts plundered from the Airfix GR4 boxing. cheers John
