  1. That is sensational detail work in that cockpit Lovely progress, keep us posted !
  2. I've seen excellent seascapes created using plaster of paris as well, I can't remember exactly but I recall the technique involved crinkling up a load of aluminium foil and pusing it down over a bed of plaster of paris, when set the aluminium foil is removed you are left with a very credible looking sea texture, just careful painting required (of course its very advisable to leave a ship sized hole from the onset ) AHA -- Found it ! http://ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2002/11/...h_sea_water.htm
  3. lol - actually Mike I just posted a tongue-in-cheek request on the wanted board at ARC, just on the off chance. I nearly fell off my chair when I got a pm the next day offering me the kit at the original RRP incl. P&P Just goes to show its always worth asking the question
  4. Thanks Gary - a very nice chap over on ARC called Gerard sold me the unopened TSR.2 for £25 inc postage, fantastic considering he could quite easily have sold it on Ebay for silly money! I guess I asked the question at the right time, and the right chap responded, either way I think he just wanted to see one built up, and not shrinkwrapped for the rest of eternity. Top bloke Yup - this will be fully unbuttoned matey LOL Guy, cheers fella yep - white , not DAZ white, but white nonetheless, I'm doing XR-219 as she would have appeared during a pre-flight check. Cheers Sean
  5. Bloody genius I've been longing to see this build with the wings on, and you aren't disappointing me. Amazing stuff
  6. Thanks for the kind comments chaps, just a small update tonight Here is the pit with the Mk8 bang seats, the eduard seatbelts make a nice finish Fits into the fuselage nice and snugly, eduard photoetch on the avionics bay
  7. I actually really like aggressor stuff, definately the best looking F-16 scheme. Nice

yup - when I finally get around to progressing with mine, I'm aiming for as shiny as poss, bugger the scale effect!
  9. Ooh look at that stressed skin - definately one for the records. Lovely photography - whats your shutter setting? the prop blur is spot on !
  10. Lovely Thunderbird Phil (resists the urge to joke about pilots forgetting true alititude AGL) :whistling:
  11. Looks pretty damn good from here Darren ! You've captured the mesh grille on the air intakes quite nicely too - was this using the same technique as I did ? Very nice work squire !
  12. STUNNING Buccaneer Calum, great to have you aboard, and please don't hesitate to post any of your other work , regardless of nationality !
  13. Yep - thats about as good as it gets. Awesome work Mr Burkhill
  14. Thanks Phil 2 at the moment - a 1/48 Airfix hawk ,and the TSR.2 I also have a 1/32 Revell Tornado waiting to start :whistling:
  15. Cheers Darren - here's hoping !
  16. Looks like the original kit canopy to me Mike - with the resessed MDC in the perspex - which is just a simple case of filling and wiping with acrylic paint John
  17. Yeah I used to buy MAI a lot, but the issues all started to get a bit 'samey', the builds are of excellent quality but I lost interest in the magazine itself.
  18. Brilliant stuff - thanks Andy, thats a superb bit of reference John
  19. Thanks Jake - the Hawk is fine, just on hold until the pilot figure is finished and off to Neil @ Paragon for casting
  20. Yep - you've got a job of work on your hands there Doc, but if anyone can do it .... Keep us posted. John
  21. Right chaps - just a run down of the work so far First thing I tackled was the wheels, the Eduard undercarriage set provides some nice photo-etch wheel hubs that will look a hell of a lot better than the stock model versions, next the tread on all the wheels was rescribed. Next the main gear undercarriage bay was dremelled out and the eduard details painstakingly inserted, this has to have been one of the most god-awful fiddly things I've ever had the misfortune to do, but I gues the end result will look good under a layer of paint - should have bought the resin one... ah well.... :whistling: Next the fuselage intakes - these need quite a bit of work to improve, they don't fit exactly perfectly, but with a bit of milliput, they look better. A small strip of styrene card was glued around the shock cone to give the impression of the shock-cone as a component which is inserted into the main intake assembly. The splitter plate was thinned out at the top and bottom of the intake, and a small piece of styrene card used to connect the upper and lower corners to the fuselage Finally auziliary intake doors made from styrene card added instead of the kit moulded-on versons. - I'm happy with how they look now Next thing to do was a bit of kit surgery, the CMK resin cockpit set comes with a beautiful representation of the electronics bay which is housed in very large access doors directly behind the cockpit. Also You may notice the prominent fuselage rivet patterns which I used my scriber to add. Yeah I couldn't resist grabbing the paint and adding a splash of colour to it - just a quick undercoat with flat black, followed by repeatedly lighter coats of grey to accentuate the detail. I've yet to add the photo-etch brackets on the shelves, and it will also have a wash to further accentuate the surface detail Thats pretty much it for the moment - more progress very soon
  22. Fantastic pics Andy - thanks for these, there is some real detail here. What a stunning aircraft. :thumbsup2:
