Modelling genius. Astounding attention to detail and skill. -
That's easily one of the best, if not the best 1/32 example I've seen yet. Brilliant.

Very nice

USS Independence (LCS-2) 1:350 Bronco Models

I don't think giving it a metallic appearance is going to work in this scale, whilst you might see a metallic sheen from close up to the real thing, on a 1/350 ship I'd be sticking to different shades of grey to get the desired effect. You don't want metallic paint flakes, it will kill the scale effect entirely. Just my opinion, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do Mickles -
Alclad Chrome does give a very delicate finish, largely dependant on the gloss black undercoat. I get best results with Tamiya gloss black.

Proper job there Cliff, very neat work, lovely

Yep, basically an Iwata clone using cheaper manufacturing processes and cheaper materials. They work well, and for the money they offer good value, this can't be argued, there will however be a time when you want to move on to a proper H&S , Iwata or similar as the difference in performance and reliability is quite significant. If its all you can afford, get one, if you can afford more, go for the genuine article.

Well I've been using good old Humbrol Liquid Poly, the brush is crap and drops out of the lid when you try and pick it up ( solved with a bit of blu-tac) but I had forgotten what bloody good glue it is. I've also got a tall bottle of Plastic-weld which seems to evaporate before you can get it from the bottle to the part to be cemented so I still need to get the hang of that stuff - main thing is I've lost my dependancy on using CA on everything which is a good thing

cheers chaps, the light is at the end of the tunnel, Just the fine details to do now, and the pylons.. (bit stuck on them to be honest) Yep, the very ones cheers Al. The rivets probably are a little over-emphasised, I based them on this photo but possibly the real ones look a bit less pronounced

That's a humdinger matey. be very proud of that one
-
Oh yeah. Nice effect, subtle changes in tone, looking brilliant

Undercarriage doors on, and canopy painted, I've got some work to do on the inside frame but the addition of rivet decals really brings it to life in my opinon

That is bloody awesome

Williams FW-14B British Grand Prix 1992 Fujimi 1/20 In association with To British Formula 1 enthusiasts there are few cars as iconic as the Williams FW-14B, not only was it one of the most technologically advanced racing cars to have raced in the pinnacle of motorsport, it was in this car that Nigel Mansell dominated and won the 1992 Drivers championship. In the hands of Mansell, and his team-mate Riccardo Patrese the FW-14B was simply unbeatable, so great was the technological advantage of the car that many of the innovations such as Active ride where the suspension constantly automatically adjusts to maintain a perfect gap between the tarmac and the underside of the car are banned by the FIA. In model form this car has been available in larger scales and as expensive resin kits, but to the 1/20 grand prix modeller this car has been a glaring omission. The Fujimi kit comes in a relatively small box, a bit larger in size than offerings by Tamiya and their extensive range of 1/20 F1 cars. The first noticeable thing is the sheer number of parts that make up the kit, to the junior modeller it looks a daunting prospect, to the more experienced modeller on closer inspection there is a lot of detail packed into all of these sprues, Fujimi have really gone the extra mile to ensure detail is priority here. The body parts are beautifully moulded and shiny , requiring the minimum of clean-up and preparation. The number of panels enables the rear cowling and front suspension cowling to be removed on the finished kit to view the engine and components underneath. The bane of many automotive modellers is moulded-on seatbelts - crudely moulded seat belts and buckles which are laborious to remove from the seat and replace with aftermarket straps. Thankfully Fujimi have answered this call with a nice smooth seat and photo-etched buckles and vinyl straps, the cockpit can be a real focal point on this kit. Engine detail doesn't disappoint either with a very nice looking Renault V-10 engine, no question this will benefit from a plethora of cables and pipes available to the superdetailer. another very nice touch in this kit is the addition of seperately moulded brake disks and callipers, no longer is it mandatory for the modeller to bolt the wheels on to hide the poorly moulded brake detail underneath, there is a real opportunity here for the most detail obsessed modeller to post the finished kit in an undressed state. I guess with all automotive models there has to be the obligatory chrome sprue, the FW-14B follows this trend as well, its really up to the modeller if they want to keep the chrome or strip it away and use products such as Alclad 2 to restore the shine, personally I'm a fan of the latter option, the only disappointing thing on this sprue is the exhaust manifolds, they look a bit clumsy to my eye and look like a single hollow part than an attempt to mould 5 exhausts components to a single section, thankfully the Radiator panels look very finely done indeed with a convincing mesh look to the surface detail. The vinyl tyres are very well represented indeed with the smallest of seams which will be sanded away without any trouble. The white, yellow and blue paint of the 1992 Williams livery is a challenge to any modeller, Fujimi have provided masks for this purpose..... whew !! Finally the decal sheet. This will be a challenging project to decal, look at all those fine red stripes! However the decals look beautifully represented and sharp, the absence of the Camel tobacco livery is obvious and it would be unthinkable to finish the model without these logos , thankfully these are available from a number of aftermarket suppliers. Note the car can be finished in either Mansell or Patrese's markings. Conclusion Finally Red-5 is available in 1/20th scale, it isn't cheap, but it is one of the finest 1/20 Car kits I have seen. I can't wait to get started on it. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of

Promodeller Weathering Pigments Hot off the press, Phil Flory from Promodeller has released some more weathering products that no discerning modeller should be without - alongside his ever popular range of washes come these new weathering pigments in a variety of colours. Each of these pigments comes in a generous tub that I can see lasting the average modeller a very long time indeed, rugged plastic construction with safe screw tops and not easy to knock over they are ideal for the purpose. Promodeller weathering pigments come in variety of shades and colours which I can see being a huge hit with armour modellers in particular, products such as the Mig range of weathering pigments are simply fabulous for weathering and these pigments look every bit as good. The pigments themselves look very fine indeed, a cotton bud (or Q-tip for you fellas over the pond ) are ideal applicators for the pigments, they are also water soluble and I was also able to mix them with thinners, any clumps can be broken up by simply shaking the tub. just like the wash range, of you make a mistake, good old H20 will come to the rescue. For ordering information, go to http://www.promodeller.com/pigments Highly Recommended Review samples courtesy of Promodeller.com
