  1. Hi All. I was fortunate in being at Yeovilton the other day when the Sea Vixen carried out a couple of crew training flights prior to taking part in the flypast this week. I thought you might like to see this shot: I liked the orginal yellow and red Llanbedr scheme a lot, wasn't quite so keen on the Red Bull sceme (though grateful that it kept her in the air), but think this is definitely where it's at! What a beauty! I can't wait to have my own Sea Vixen in the front room courtesy of Airfix Regards, Chris. PS If you're at Cosford show this Sunday come and have a chat - you'll find me in front of the Spitfire in the same hangar as the Lincoln!
  2. Great looking build - well done! It's always good to see kits of aircraft I've seen flying and I've managed to catch and photograph both of these! Cheers, Chris.
  3. This is looking really good Mike! Will follow this build with interest. Regards, Chris.
  4. Nice looking build! This is the version I was thinking of doing. What kind of paint did you use? Thanks for tips ! All the best, Chris.
  5. Very nice! I especially like the Whirlwind - have memories of seeing them patrol the beaches when I was a child and one even did a forced landing outside the hotel we were staying in in Woolacombe so I got a good close-up view of it. Even have an old b+w photo of it somewhere! I do like the Wessex too - used to see them tearing over the common here out of Shawbury - brilliant! Nice trio - thanks for posting. Regards, Chris.
  6. Stunning aircraft, very well modelled - Nice one! Regards, Chris.
  7. Hi Stebos/All. Very nice work. I am pretty sure I saw one of these fly at an airshow at Coventry not that long ago - will have to dig out the photos and have a look. Also, seeing your model here makes me think of the original version of the film 'Flight of the Phoenix' with Jimmy Stewart and Dickie Attenborough - it really looks like the plane they used in that but I can't be certain. Anyway, great to see it! Cheers, Chris.
  8. Impressive line-up Ratch - good work! My eye was caught by the tiny Victory - I have one of those I built as a kid but it's unpainted. I seem to remember Airfix did 2 versions of the Victory in that scale, the one you have done on the sea-base and the other one had a complete hull and went on a little stand. I can still remember the day I threw most of my old kits into the dustbin including the large Victory - not a pleasant memory and I wish I had kept them! Regards, Chris.
  9. Awesome schemes. They really do it properly. Cheers, Chris.
  10. Great photos - just had a look. Thanks again. Chris.
  11. Lovely post Wingsleader - thankyou - and got me thinking of my time in Berlin circa 1980. Oranienburgerstrasse was where I met a group of lads and lasses having a beer and I joined in with them, eventually and stupidly having a few too many, and back at one of the lads pads after a few glasses of vodka getting out my passport and offering it to them for free... They were decent though, and helped me back to the tube station to travel back through time to West Berlin. At the barrier I was allowed to proceed, they weren't. What you wrote brought it all back. I'll never forget the atmosphere of that divided city. Shame about Tempelhof, great shame. Regards, Chris.
  12. Hi Dave and All. First [post here and it had to be on Lightnings...! I have heard a figure of £90 for the 1/32 kit and I can't wait to get my hands on one. The Echelon one was way beyond my capabilities and I think the fact we will have an injection moulded kit of our most iconic of aeroplanes is brilliant!!! Cheers, Chris.
