This is something completely different, and I love it! Thought it was black 'n white, until I saw the yellow bands on the missiles...

On the front of the hood there is a black part. Is that a sort of curtain? Or is it part of het instrument panel?

Thanks :D it was indeed different and it did fel like taping b/w-photos :P

I think it's some kind of sunscreen.

Incredible effect, thought the photos were black and white until I saw the cockpit, good job!

Thanks  :D yeah I had to check the settings in my camera while shooting because the pics looked black and white :P

it could have done with a spot of bright colour somewhere. I wanted to add the boarding ladder wich is black and yellow, but the customer said no.

    Another one bites the dust.
Finished this fun and different project. It's a commission build of a Gripen C but painted up like the Gripen E prototype.
I have to say that I'm, myself, partial to this scheme. It's simply gorgeous and fun to paint.
The kit is the Kittyhawk in 1/48 with a bit of CMK resin and Aires exhausts. And it's a horrible kit as you know...this particular one suffered from the fuselage halves being of different length....
But I'm not griping about the Gripen... I'm a modeller after all :P.
Anyways here is what it ended up like.

    Excellent work!

I think the slightly weathered look is perfect for an F-14.  I guess I’m admitting I prefer your latest build on the left to the one on the right, but only my opinion.

One day I’ll get going on my Hasegawa 1/72 kit and your build can be an inspiration.

    👏👏👏

    LoL, thank you :D

I too prefer a bit of weathering...a sterile and spotless Tomcat is quite boring to the eye. The contrast between the two is kind of interesting in it self... a spotless perfectly new compared with one that have "lived" for decades.

  6. F-14A Tomcat VF-41, late Tamiya 1/48
I've committed yet a Tomcat, it's the final of a duo commissioned.
It's a late cat from Desert Storm with decals from Eduard as well as a cockpit set with 3D printed instruments and PE, really nice set even though the belts were a bit simplistic.
I decided to do a somewhat rugged bird compared to the clean VF-84 I did earlier, a nice contrast I think.
Painted with MRP and slightly weathered with washes and pigments.
    Now for the pics!

What are the missiles under the wings? I vaguely remember the Matchbox kit having them.

Thanks Bobby :D it does seem so 😜

    They are Rb04 antishipping missiles

Those are the iconic Robot 04 anti ship missiles.

Did they come with the kit? The Tarangus release didn't include any armament.

     Nope, Maestro after market :)
