  1. On the strength of this most excellent post/thread I invested some of my pension on the Wobbly Bits Gladioli kit (well I do reside in Dame Edna Land) even though I have 3 Airfix examples. A very pleasant week of messing about indeed. I decided to paint it as KWoT from the Airfix boxing so the paint and masking has thus far been the longest part of err...construction. next up will be 'transfers' (I show my age here) and the dread rigging with ezy-line (a misnomer of a name if ever there was!) Photos will be taken as I do with all my efforts. I still have some bits and bobs...skis and whatnot for further adventures gladiatorial!
  2. Yes, sir yours is the name I was trying to remember. A 3D CAD or similar conversion in all 3 scales would be excellent given that the AZ kit doesnt quite address all the changes. cheers.
  3. Zvezda do the 17 A ...its apparently the Dragon Mig 17 mould which came with both early and late rear fuselages. However the Zvezda only has the sprues for the A series.
  4. Gday. I'm currently working up references for the new AZ 1/72 kit and have asked similar questions. A fellow modeller advises that the intake under the nose is deeper than the standard E type and is a slightly different shape. I plan to modify a spare G/K series intake. Drawings of such are in the realm of hens teeth it seems. The Ritger book I'm told is set for publication later in the year? I recall many years ago an article on D-ISLU in Scale Model Aircraft (?) detailing the conversion of a 109E and there has been a conversion kit produced (sorry I cant recall the name) As to the other details.......I'm stalled till I can find out more. Lyn Ritger may be the source of such info when his book arrives.
  5. Isnt AZ Models part of a 'consortium' of manufacturers, I have quite a few AZ and KP kits, yes AZ arent known for attention to accuracy and KP I find to be rather fussy and over engineered in the "why use one part when you can make it from three miniscule parts." nice but frustrating. I would have thought the aftermarket providers would be overjoyed at anything AZ put out 😉. All said and done the big mainstream boys..Tamiya et al arent likely to cater to this end of the hobby so there we go. I shall be sifting through the spares box shortly for something suitable.
  6. Yes thats much clearer. I may follow your example or plug mould a new piece with internals to suit. plus the other mods, spinner, cannon bulges, etc cheers John H.
  7. Thanks so much for that. That is the size and shape I had thought it was. Theres enough to give me an idea of what needs to be done. I'm pondering is there something just behind the intake or was it part of the undercarriage beyond. I have wondered if they tried several different radiators at various times. other things will be attended to as I go. those cannon lumps under the wings for one!
  8. LOL being domiciled in that faraway land downunder (ex Brummie) I can inform that the current phrase is "No Wuckers mate" and that is short for 'No Wuckin Furries she'll be right matey' These bl**dy colonials do have a bl**dy way with the bl**dy language...too bl**dy right.
  9. Ooh a tank buster Gladdie with 40mm ...nice. However in my dotage wasnt there a 'teardrop' shaped bulge under the wing to house all the guns doings etc? Must look at pictures....now where was I.
  10. Thanks fot that, I found those 2 images online, I note though that even the book cover shows a somewhat deeper intake under the nose. I shall investigate the book. cheers.
  11. G'day, I should probably post this in the pre war forum However I have just received AZs new Bf 109 red racer V-14. Looks a nice kit with a lot of extras. My question is I had thought the radiator under the nose was somewhat deeper than the standard e series arrangement of the kit. Searching through Google and my own library of Luft types has revealed nowt but some fuzzy images or the area in question is not properly visible. Anyone set me straight Thanks John H.
  12. Oh I'm well aware of that having built both Revell kits back in the day. I have both the Eduard 1/72 DH2 and their Fokker E.III in the stash... that said I have seen some extraordinary builds of those old 60's 2 bob wonders. I have a KP Salmson 2A.2 on the table presently with a copy of the Wingnut Wings instructions for reference.....much fun to be had.
  13. Visibility? depending on colour its use as an emergency tool or some other purpose. Interior decorating by the pilot or gnd crew? I'll get me overalls
  14. In a pinch ...Revell did both a Fokker EIII and a De H 2 in 1/72 I dont recall details of either and havent seen them in a donkeys age.....but .....maybe if anyone is stuck.
