  1. Just browsing the Moebus site and came across "The Invisible Man" kit. Impressive. I was expecting an empty box!
  2. That suggests to me that HLJ are in a position to commission a production run.
  3. I've just noticed from the sprue shots that the wheels are incorrect. They should be 5-stud, not 6! I have a Revell 1/35th Landy from years back with the same problem. Does anyone know if the proposed Italeri 1/35 Landy is from the same mould as the old Revell?

That's no bloody good when your standing in his branch with pound notes at the ready! Seriously though, it's the same story at my local store: no airbrush stuff, fewer kits, fewer paints and acc's. If these things are only available at certain stores how many people will travel to buy them? They're better cutting the lines altogether than just keeping stock in certain stores. And to still show them on the website is unforgivable. (Again!)
  5. I've been trying to get a replacement teflon washer for my Badger 200G airbrush. Considering the washers fragility and propensity to get lost during stripping, cleaning, reassembling and any other opportunity you'd think they'd be more readily available. I've tried all my local model and art shops and none carry them as stock, they have to order them! What's more I resent paying £2 a time for the priviledge. So I had an idea... I found some small bore silicon tubing and made my own! I found the tubing gathering dust on the bench and tried it against the thread where the teflon would go. It was a tight fit so I don't think it'll get lost easily. Next I pushed one end of the whole length over the thread until it seated and used a scalpel to trim it to size. As I screwed it back together I felt the silicon compressing at around the last half turn or so, so I'm reasonably sure it's sealing. Tried spraying some water and it was bubble free! Silicon's fairly inert and the tubing isn't coloured so it shouldn't react with any paint. Cellulose thinners might be a problem but I rarely use them. Anyway my metre of tubing should last around 1000 years at the rate I'll use it. Or maybe I should cut it into 1 inch lengths and sell it as a Badger Upgrade Kit for a tenner a pop!
  6. I'm not sure whether 9F's in general were used to haul passenger trains. The "Evening Star" certainly was as it was a bit famous being the last steam loco built and as such was always kept a bit cleaner than the standard 9F's. Any offers?
  7. It seems that Hobbylink Japan are expecting stock of the Revell Victor in April. Could this signal a general reissue or could HLJ have commissioned a limited run?
  8. I've just visited my LHS and spotted a new old stock SRN4 still in cellophane and marked up at £29.99. Please PM me if you're interested.
  9. I've just been reading through the planned new releases from Airfix and see that they're releasing a new tooling P-51D Mustang and also a new tool F-51. Aren't they the same animal? Surely an alternative propellor and some extra decals (transfers, they're TRANSFERS!) in the box would suffice instead of two separate kits?
  10. Nobody's mentioned the Tamiya 1/48th FRS1 yet. Wouldn't that be a contender?
  11. Who's to say it'll need seamless intakes given the quality of Airfix' current crop of mouldings. Don't forget that the Vulcan and Matchbox/Revell Victor moulds are several decades old and didn't have the benefit of a CAD system when they were produced.
  12. Thanks for the offers guys. I'm not particularly looking for a Victor, just wondering if Revell would take the opportunity to reissue it to take advantage of the current interest in v-bombers. Be a shame if they didn't...
  13. Does anyone know if Revell have plans to re-release their Victor to coincide with the Airfix Valiant? I quite fancy filling my spare room with a complete V-Force.
  14. Brilliant model, superbly crafted. I'm a bit perturbed by the two-gallon kettle though! Exactly how much tea do you drink?
  15. I made that mistake once. I wanted a particular fleece jacket that was once popular in military circles and I searched under the army nickname of "Hairy Bear".
  16. I've just won a chippie off flea bay and was surprised at the quality of the moulding. I'd have expected it to be a lot rougher. Does anyone know when this kit was first produced? If Airfix reissue this I'll be in line for a few more, as well as a couple of SA Bulldogs.
  17. I've just made a complete dog's breakfast of trying to scribe some panel lines on an Airfix B-P Defiant but I successfully filled the mistakes with stretched sprue and Mek-Pak. The advantage I've found is that you get, in effect. a raised line which can be easily sanded back without going further into the base plastic and can be rescribed without difficulty. I suppose you could also use this to restore sanded-away raised lines that you want to replace. Do I win a ten shilling postal order?
  18. Very nice build. There's only one problem (Revell's mistake, not yours), The wheels have 6 wheelnuts. There's only 5 on the original!
  19. Just noticed the price tag on your Tamiya thinners. Did you get a good deal or is it very old?
  20. What sort of quality was the original kit? Were the moulds OK? I wouldn't mind buying it if it made up into something decent. The original kit, if I remember correctly might have been of a Mk1. If so the nacelles and other whatnots will be the wrong shape for the "proper" Bucc. Any comments?
  21. I was in my local Marksy's today and walked past the Revell Red Arrows Hawk and Westland Sea King HAS.6/AEW. I say "walked past" as they were both on sale at £12.00! I might have stretched that far for the heli but £12.00 for the Hawk is just daylight robbery!
  22. Wow! That's half the price of the complete kit, plus you need the bits to make it right! Not a cheap build...
  23. The lighter colour looks blue to me (depending on my monitor) and the darker looks like gunmetal lightened with silver might work. Possibly try mixing a little medium blue into silver for the light. You probably won't get off the shelf colours for it!
