About Me

Just got back into aircraft modelling after a few years so bound to be a little rusty in certain areas! I do have three kits i have finished building, one is complete with markings and lacquer, one is waiting for 1 x star and bar on the fussylarge, and then lacquering and one just needs decals and lacquer! 2 x P-51s (an A and  B) and an F8F Bearcat. I have more P-51s to build and hope to get an A-36 when someone can make a decent kit! Its always a good feeling to get one completed and looking good!

I started out collecting die cast models in 1:72 and found that certain aircraft weren't available in die cast, such as the A-36, P-51A and C so decided to start making kits to represent those models! Once i have finished mustang alley i'll be looking to buy an A-36 and a few variations of the P-40 (Kittyhawk, Tomahawk and Warhawk, possibly even a Seahawk too. I like finding these variations but the kits that are made of them can be hard to build and that the decals are usually trash so have ordered sheet of star and bars with optional red stripes, in many sizes. I'm getting back into the swing of things again and remembering some of the little tweaks i used a few years back; i am also amassing suitable materials to use as tools and equipment, such as the toughened glass from an old halogen light to use for when i work with filler, and other things like 6" long 4mm sticks to which i fitted a 5amp crocodile clip, these are very handy for holding a piece for painting, so i dont end up painting my fingers! I'll have to buy some decent brushes for painting though as some of the ones i have aren't great! I used a plastic one the other day, put it in the whiners to clean it, the phone rang and i went to answer it; after a few mins when i got back the brush handle had melted in the jar! Looks like a Leech with a beard!🤣🤣

I'll get some pictures on the forum of the models i make, what's on the bench etc in due course. Thanks for letting me join the group!
