  1. Well, at least I was accurate enough in terms of value. Yes, I'm new. It was intended as a well earned and sincere compliment. Every day is a school day eh?
  2. This is a work of Automotive Museum Reference quality. I'm seeing it. I know it's real. Having a bit of an issue absorbing it. Dan, may I suggest it is professionally valued & insured upon completion. In my opinion, it would command anything between £6,000 to £10,000 pounds in the right auction, on the right day, with the right buyer present.
  3. Well gents. A rather large box containing the Tamiya 1-32 Spit XC1 should arrive. Only 6 months later than planned...but other matters took over. Amongst other things ( as much modding will be needed) is the hunt for 1-32nd G-irty decals. Not having much success today.
  4. Welcome Matt. I live in Scotland but have relatives who are not having a good time right now...east of Albury-Wodonga. It is heartbreaking to watch areas I've trekked over 30 years burned to cinders. Hope you guys are safe wherever you are.
  5. I'm up for that Dave for sure. Many thanks for the heads-up.
  6. Hello from Scotland. Being American is perfectly acceptable in this household. Reason? Without 'Murrica, the Shelby GT40s & Daytonas would never have happened.😍 How poor would the world be otherwise.....the horror, the deprivation, and Enzo would never have got his oily a**e in a sling. 😡
  7. G'day back at you Jeff. As it happens, I have a particular affinity with Oz. Every three or four years, I pop over to stay with rellos in Albury/Wodonga. Mornings always begin with a doorstep bap from the Federation Park in Wodonga. Bloody magpies the size of Wales get a bit brave & dodgy while I'm sitting outside. B-in-L was a trucker hauling roadtrains, so I saw a lot of NSW, and did one "epic" to Alice Springs. Unforgettable. Went to the V8 Supercar Bathurst in 2003. Been hooked on V8 championship every since. You will note not only am I closet oil baron, but also have my own private collection of Ltd Ed. V8s. These are driver signed & sealed...90 AUD $ each. I had toxic verbal issue with a nasty wee Doha security N.E.D. who wanted to break them open, until I strongly objected (in finest Glaswegian) and got his Boss over to pass them out unspoiled. TBH, the flights do me in now so I'm not sure I'll do it again, as I'm always on my own thanks to costs. Skype is handy.
  8. Thanks! My Jockhanistani Outdoor Special is Haggis Korma & Deep Fried Porridge Pate' Trust me...you've not lived. Nor will you for much longer after it.😷
  9. Falkirk here MarkH. Plenty eye-aids you can buy to help.....so don't suffer! Happy fettling!
  10. One for Corsairfoxfouruncle. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50403561
  11. @Troy. Fantastic. TBH, the enormity of the task is beginning to dawn. Saw the link to the chap who does graphics...big issue solved if he can do 1-32nd. Just as well I love a challenge. Actually, talking of challenges I'm two years clear of a BigC issue which was caught....never to return.😀 That's why SWMBO had wee workshop built...to enable me to attend to a few bucket list projects. Life's too short.
  12. Excellent advice gentlemen all. Indeed, I do tend to apply my son's military maxim of "F o & F o"...which is far too rude to explain here! I'm getting itchy fingers to get started on G-ERTY but I've just built a workshop with plenty bench space etc. There's nowhere "safe" indoors thanks to 2 new kittens and the chaps cannot put power into it for heat & light till end January. Meantime I do have around 4 grams of G-ERTY at home. £70.00 well spent. Smelted from a few original dodgy wing struts during her rebuild pre-flight. Also getting a wee 2 ring stove so I can avail myself of a good banjo & coffee when required. SWMBO detests the smell of fried eggs crispy bacon...fair play. In any case, bacon & eggs sarnies should always be consumed in cold crisp outdoors. Taste 3 times better.😋
  13. Grateful to all for "welcomes". Be prepared for a lot of silly questions in January...part of a mindset that tends to "overthink"!
  14. Quick introduction: Retired recently after 40 years in training & recruitment. 1st "passion" is my 26 years old Roadster I've owned for 16 years now operational after huge rebuild. 2nd passion to be revisited (after a 50 year break..called life) are Spitfires. Intention: Purchase the Tamiya Spitfire 1-32 X1 in January 2020 and make a concerted attempt to produce a passable Silver Spitfire. As I understand, it is a relatively simple build, https://www.silverspitfire.com/ I have no idea where my skill levels are now, but I will soon see. Did plenty 00 gauge modelling decades past, so not a complete novice. Challenges? Everything. Me for a start. Followed by a believable polished alloy superstructure, and the numerous modifications to G-IRTY required to ensure her 27,000 mile global epic was possible. Sans Brownings for a start..etc etc. Meantime, investigating the basic tools & equipment needed. At least it makes Christmas easier for SWMBO.
