  1. Lovely build! If you can't find the clear part we can easily supply one for you. M
  2. Hi All Because it has taken me over 40 years to complete (!), my model of the Heller Vampire in 1/72 in these markings (Modeldecal) is about to be "trumped" (ie made to look a lot more familiar) by the new Airfix boxing. Coincidentally, I had decided to finish it a while ago, so the fact that Airfix are including the scheme is not the reason for pulling it out of the COD (cabinet of doom). However, does anyone have an ACTUAL PHOTO of how the black on the nose curves down under the fuselage and terminates? I have the artwork for the Xtradecal sheet, which looks plausible, but is there a picture to be sure?? Thanks in advance for any help Mark Robson Auckland NZ
  3. Thanks Chris; ultramarine blue?? Hmmm....wonder what blue that actually is 🤔 Thanks Seahawk. I am a big believer in Roger but in earlier threads here on BM people have just as definitively said it was aircraft blue. I am personally convinced it was not roundel blue despite the Xtradecal instructions (and other online comments) but am not too hung up about the precise colour. If no-one knows exactly what blue it was then if it looks right I will be happy..... Cheers M
  4. Hi all Aiming to finish the Airfix 1/48 kit soonish in Blue Diamonds markings. In default mode I was going to follow the Xtradecal instructions which say they were overall roundel blue then my memory sparked that there have been earlier messages here on this. In a variety of online sources, I can find authoritative-sounding comments that it was royal blue and aircraft blue, as well as other comments that it was roundel blue. As we all know there are not very many colour pics, and via a screen one could persuade oneself that any one of those assertions is true. I want to say that the roundel blue looks a little darker than the airframe colour, but when adjacent to red and white this is a hard call. Does anyone have any NEW information that seems legitimate as to the true colour?? It's hard to believe that they mixed a new blue when they would have had other blues fairly easily to hand. This also raises the question of whether the Lightnings had their fins painted the same blue; there is at least one colour pic online with a Hunter and a Lightning next to each other and the Lightning fin looks a bit paler. Thanks in advance if you have something concrete, Mark Robson Auckland NZ
  5. Hi All Building the CA 1/48th kit, resurrecting after a long pause. Does anyone have any DEFINITIVE info on whether EITHER the prototype (converted from a Mk1 ) or the (apparent) 5 production aircraft had guns fitted? Written statements say no guns, but are there any pics?? Further, is there a pic anywhere of the camera arrangement?? There are none visible in side profile pics (the rare ones that I have) but documentation of the camera fit would be very welcome. If I can't find anything I am going to replicate the downward facing arrangement fitted to the Sea Hornet. Cheers Mark in NZ
