  1. Hi Walrus, The baby that almost got sprayed was the Airfix 1/48 Hawk that's almost finished. I noticed it right behind the spray area just in time!
  2. Thanks all. I've never thought about spraying decals till I read about it here and saw it on a very, very nice Hunter. Sorry, I can't remember who did it. Thanks Adrian, as these roundels turned out okay and got good feedback I'm going to try making the other more complicated ones the same way. I must be mad. I think I've just let myself in for a whole lot of aggro and hassle here. I certainly need to improve my masking techniques though, especially for spraying on a very matt surface like this one is. Sorry mate, you've lost me on this one. Is a "Wing fillet" the curved area where the wing joins the fuselage? If so then I see what you mean. The line itself looks a bit horrible too. I didn't realise when I started this what a difficult colour white is to work with. It shows up ANY mistake at all (and there are quite a few on this beastie) especially in areas that i hadn't noticed weren't fully masked... .
  3. Superb detail on what must be a tiny, wee model! Well done mate. I thought it was a Tiger Moth till I realised there were some wings missing. Lovely job.
  4. Hi all, I've been playing around with building an RAF Coastal Command Flying Fortress and decided to try airbrushing the Roundels as the kit only comes with Yank stuff. It's the (rather large) Revell 1/48 B17 "Memphis Belle" painted with Tamiya acrylics. Does this look okay to you? Comments, observations and criticism welcome.
  5. Hi Peter, I used Tamiya Nato Green (acrylic) for this one. It think it looks okay but I can't verify how accurate the colour is. My aplogies too, I don't think the colour register is all that great, the pics are much yellower than the actual model. With Missile (It's 1/35, the figure is just there for an idea of size) Possibly a coat of Klear would darken it down even more. Hope this helps... Actually, I think I might have some pics on a hard drive somewhere. I'll try and find them if you want.
  6. Thanks Andy! I tried that tonight and it worked great. Very neat and clean looking. Also, well done to Airfix for such a beautifully neat line on the det cord. It really is very nice. I'll post some pics soon.
  7. Oops sorry! I thought that was the 1/48 version. Even more impressed that it's 1/72! Thanks for the tip. I was wondering how to paint the det cord on the 1/48 job I'm building so I'll try your method. Hope I make as nice a job of it.
  8. That looks fantastic, excellent paint job! How did you get the det cord in the canopy done so neatly?
  9. Now THAT'S what I call a "Landing Ship Amphibious"!
  10. I'd be full of joy joy feelings if I could spend £20 a month on models!! Actually, I suppose it does amount (in bursts) to about £20 a month.... Possibly... Maybe... But it keeps me occupied for weeks and months at a time. Pity she knows about the stash... Ach, she's pretty good about it really.
  11. Just over six hundred quid? Hmmm... When Her Maj found out I'd be dead before the first mag from the Postie hit the mat. Not that I'd do it anyway. They seem a bit coy about what it's made from too.
  12. That does look absolutely superb. I'm very, very tempted! Must be pretty big.
  13. Nice stuff guys. Homebee, your build article (in French) looks superb. I'm particularly interested in how you did the decals. Bablefish gave me a garbled translation though I did get the gist of it. Did you paint the main roundel red, mask with a small patch then paint the outside blue? These Navy Hunters look great. Dammit! Looks like I'll have to buy yet another Revell 1/32 Hunter. Her Maj just can't understand why I've bought several models of the same plane.
  14. Lovely job. It looks like a great model to build!
  15. Absolutely great mate!!! Love the finish. I'm doing the same 1/32 Black Arrows beastie but I'm stuck as I haven't the decals. I was actually trying to make masking from frisket to paint them but I couldn't get the damn Frisket to stick down well enough. Where did you get them? Who makes them?
  16. I'd like to join in with a tank or summat.
