  1. As I only use Acrylics I thin them with water. The acrylic paint tubs get washed and re-used almost continually. I'm just too lazy to carry a new one upstairs. Of course, if I actually managed to build more than one model per year...
  2. Yeah, I'm taking a liking to the Tamiya Flat Base for both Klear and gloss paints myself. It does an excellent job if you are careful with how much you use.
  3. The Revell 1/32 Beaufighter is a massive model considering the last one I saw was about £17. The scratchbuilding potential is huge too.
  4. It certainly looks well abused James, keep at it!
  5. Great stuff Iain. I have a very soft spot for these lovely (and huge) Revell kits. More more more!
  6. Yeah... I was kind of thinking the brown was a bit light. Might darken enough when Klear is on? (He quoth, desperately clutching at straws)...
  7. Hi all, I'm building my first green and brown plane for a long time. I used Tamiya deep green and flat earth. Would these be suitable colours? If not what Tamiya paints would you use? Drat! Just noticed... I completely missed the arial mast with paint.
  8. The thing is mate, most people will look at them and say "Wow! Nice! Well done!" Ignore everyone else.
  9. It's coming on very nicely Oneds. I must admit, I really quite liked the kit and it builds into a nice, very sleek, powerful looking (and big) model. If you plan to show the guns, close one gun pit and use the bits (ammo belts etc) to tart up the other. Here's one I made a couple of years ago. It could do with some more "dirt" around the engine compartment. Sorry about the crap photography.
  10. That is looking superb for what is a challenging kit. Well done mate!
  11. Absolutely lovely Chewitt! Does the crew come with the kit? I have one buried away in the loft somewhere that I plan to build as HMS Braveheart. I need to sort out my modelling skills a bit first though. It looks like a superb kit and you have made a great job of it!
  12. The much maligned Blackburn did produce the Buccaneer... Lovely plane, apparently superb at what it was designed for... and a few other things too.

Yes, it's a clear plastic circle moulded with the periscopes etc. Then a green plastic circle sits on top. It's very nicely done. Maskol doesn't seem too keen to stick to it for painting though.
