  1. I would be up for joining a Covid-19 Group Build - Limited to only using whatever kits and materials you have in the house, no ordering from outside world allowed!
  2. was this it? This is a Do-17Z from 1942, in Finnish service. i haven't seen a underside hatch like this on any other photos on the web.
  3. Have you got any more information on these Heather?, or even better, any pictures?! im wondering if this was a standard fit on most Do-17s or just mission specific? im tempted to get one of my dorniers on the bench if we have to all go into isolation mode over the next few weeks!
  4. Misread the title as Star Wars refugee, so this wasnt quite the vehicle i was expecting! but looks good nonetheless
  5. Looking cool! Have you considered splitting ailerons from the wings as separate parts? That engine looks like it would take up such a sizable chunk of the interior fuselage i cant imagine where the undercarriage would fold away to!
  6. These photoshopped pics are great, and really give a sense of scale and size to the vehicle! my only comment is they may be "Too good"! - it might be worth putting your own watermark/copyright in the corner of the images as i can fully imagine seeing some of these in a Wired article or some magazine "what if we hadnt chosen the Shuttle" blog post!
  7. Nice one! i love the eclectic mix of kits and bits that somehow congealed together to create this MaK universe flyer!
  8. Has this progressed any further Serkan? Any trial run prints on the smaller parts yet? Just looking at your seat model again, i wonder if the 'D-Ring' might be a little too small/thin diameter when printing at 1/72? I fell down a hole of reading about the Sr-71 satellite launcher last night and went to bed dreaming of 'what ifs' and came back to this thread again
  9. Ah! i had seen this beast a few months back! Capabilities aside, the Bell and Boeing designs appear purely conceptual, whilst LM/Sikorsky are there with a second flying prototype. Also seems to have some features ive never seen on rotorcraft before, which look to make it quite a nimble chopper! The Bell 360 looks cool though, and the scale modeller in me is impressed with the 360 flyaround model..... now how do i get me one of these in 1/72
  10. Lovely work there! I did an IL-2 as part of the blitzbuild, and yours is worlds away a better result! Lovely interior detail too - i still wonder how much of a tight squeeze it must have been for the rear gunner on that sling!
  11. Has this been designed for a specific contract, or is it a proposed product to fill an as yet undetermined future requirement/rfp? Is the Apache fleet approaching its maximum flying hours? Nearly all the points of the vehicle dont really seem that 'revolutionary'. the real-time updates and diagnostics and additional autonomous capabilities are probably the newest thing to the game, but what is meant by that. is it going to be Optionally Piloted, or do they mean autonomous in terms of auto hover, path-finding, ground avoidance etc. It looks like a Comanche 2.0, rather than an 'all new design'. I feel with recent financial and technical hurdles on a number of ongoing projects, Boeing may not have an 'easy sell' of this to the DOD. Dozens of ongoing, maturing, autonomous helicopter programs, which have the potential to be in the field far faster and for much cheaper. perhaps im missing something?
  12. Anyone got any updates/news as to if a buyer was found?
  13. Hi Saturn. i have the very same book and i can say you've done a cracking job of envisioning this concept! What did you use to create your elaborate and suitably scaffold-filled gantry/launchpad? its very convincing! I feel in many ways if only we had not been distracted by the idea of "winged orbiters" and utilized concepts like these, we would be far further down the line of full re-usability than we are today.
  14. That is interesting, any links to the sold item? id be intrigued to see what they went for and what it said about them.
  15. Onshape semi-pro here, and happy to say you CAN do all the 3 things you want! A) - draw a line (in sketch mode), once youve drawn it a prompt should come up to allow you to type in the exact value your after. if this doesnt come up, you can click the "dimension" button (19th button in after the undo/redo), click on the line, and add a dimension value to it. B - Click the three vertical lines next to the Onshape name, this will bring a little drop down menu up. from there there is a setting "Workspace Units" - im exclusively a cm/mm man and this was a must do change. C- You can! Its just not clear the process you need to follow. firstly, you need to "Upload" the image. so click the '+' button at the bottom left, this will bring up a new menu where you can choose Import. select your image, and it will be uploaded to the onshape server. Once you have done this, you need to add your image as an 'overlay' to a new sketch. Create your new sketch (or use existing geometry to create a sketch plane) and click the small down arrow next to the DXF icon (18th in after undo/redo) - here it says Insert Image - then select your uploaded image, at which point you can click and drag to scale up/down the image as required. you can use the dimensioning ability in point A to set a specific length/height to the reference image. Hope it helps, and if you have any other onshape qualms just post them here and ill do my best to help!
  16. Interesting little space tidbit i was not aware of! With China becoming more and more involved in the space scene, any idea what they classify as an EVA? im sure we are supposed to see one of their larger station modules go up into orbit this year.
  17. only 2 worrying days left for applications! Throwing the information over to anyone i think can help at this point. My local council is obsessed with roundabouts, and spent £56,000 on a few LED lit perspex windows, so im hoping that they might consider sticking this on one of the larger roundabouts to see the value/appeal of something like this as a potential tourist attraction, or even an unusual 'gate guard' on one of their new fancy science & technology business parks! I dont think it would be suitable for hanging! I was more thinking that in the process of changing from an active base, some of the current 'in use' hangars could be re purposed to house this victor! but all a little too short on time!
  18. R.I.P - Many thanks guys for making me aware of the film. will probably try and watch that over the weekend, as it would be nice to learn more of this womans (and many others) unsung contributions to the space program (even if slightly dramatized for audiences)
  19. Unfortunate outcome!! I have also been inspired to look at getting one of these kits - was this the seller/item you were looking at ( EBay Buran Model Kit W/ Superdecal ) - want to ensure i dont meet a similar fate!
  20. Great work on this interesting little venture of aerospace engineering. I also agree - im not quite sure how well this would have worked in practicality, certainly one telling thing for me is how no small winged craft have been launched 'nose first' sans fairings on any form of rockets in the 60 years since this was developed, makes me think there is probably a reason for that. I cant remember, but was the X-20 a "Hot body" design? where heat was transferred to internal structure to dissipate? I know it used all sorts of exotic alloys to deal with absurd temperatures, would have been interesting to see how it fared vs the 'ablative' tps methods used these days. Theres a scene in First Man where the X-15 is starting to heat up, and that seems daunting.......coming down from orbit using a similar structure/cooling arrangment would have certainly required a lot of....... cohones Orbital Heating of the X-15   - Clip from First Man Movie Was there much in the way of cockpit detail on this kit? its quite dark and the small windows dont seem to give much away!
  21. Great work so far! Loving all the additional detail your injecting into it! I wasn't aware you could get the Gemini spacecraft in such a large scale! Full of anticipation, i fired up a new Ebay tab and thought id have a look ...... 😲.... might be out of my price range for quite some time! So will just have to follow your build log instead
  22. Looking good! Was just wondering, if your still having problems with the model tail-sitting, could you add some weights into behind the engine nacelles? Would probably be enough to enourage the model to 'lean' forwards! But i may have come in with this comment at too late a stage in the day!
  23. is there some kind of "illustrated encyclopedia to the ships of star wars" available anywhere? I did always think the capital ships got underplayed in the model making arena.
  24. Exceptionally good work as always! particularly like the "clean weathering" on it, brings out the details really nicely. Showing it next to the sukhoi does illustrate how small and nimble a machine the skyhawk was at a time when every other jet seemed to be getting bigger!
  25. Welcome to the forums! Cant say i know much of the cars and motorcycle side of things, only have one or two in the stash, but there are some on here doing amazing stuff with automotive kits! Look forwards to seeing some of your builds, perhaps it can coax them automotive kits out of the stash and into the 'to do' pile!
