  1. Thanks for that- was hoping it was Korean War but it's still too interesting a scheme not to do Bill Watt
  2. Hello all, I managed to find a photo of an RAN Firefly (either an AS.5 or a "borrowed" FR.5) crashed on the deck of the HMAS Sydney, probably during the Korean War. It has a low (bottom of the fuselage) colour demarcation (it's either EDSG or EDSG/Slate grey, I can't tell), with a sky/EDSG cowling with a "high" colour demarcation. It's wearing a fuselage number of "238". I can't tell if it's a Royal Navy aircraft that's been "borrowed" or an actual RAN machine. It also appears that the rudder may be a different colour, but again it's not clear enough to make a call. The spinner is not black, nor does it seem that it's EDSG, and the exhaust pipes seem to be round. Does anyone have any idea about this aircraft? Or will I be able to make "educated" guesses? I've checked the Australian War Memorial sight, and the ADF serial site without success- the only RAN Firefly I could find that definitely carried "238" was an AS.6 and therefore not it. Any help would be greatly appreciated Bill Watt P.S. the photo is on page 91 of "Sea Fury, Firefly and Sea Venom in Australian Service" by Stewart Wilson
  3. Hello, added the selector panel for weapons- hangs below the main instrument panel in the centre- there are five switches and the park brake. And in a moment of folly added the actuating arms for the throttle. Not really needed just seemed like a good idea at the time. Can't see much of them now the thing is complete Bill They aren't now..... Ooops
  4. Finally finished the Tamiya 1:48 P-47D I was working on. Aeromaster decals, Eduard pre-coloured belts and placards, bit of scratchbuilding in the undercarriage bays and cockpit. Hope you like it
  5. I'll try again with photos this time.......
  6. Hello, found a website for them direct in the UK- http://loru1588.tripod.com/warbirds/id8.html -which bits are white metal? I'm in Australia so it doesn't really matter where I order from, it has to come one hell of a long way, and where possible I like to order from the manufacturer- you wouldn't believe importer's mark ups in Australia. Thanks for the help, too Bill Watt
  7. Hello all, have a couple of 1:32 Hasegawa Spitfires in the stash and am looking at doing a Mk XIVe bubbletop- the question is what is the quality of the Warbirds Productions conversion? Haven't managed to find any good photos of the bare resin- any advice is greatly appreciated Bill
  8. More photos- been a while. Visiting family and work tends to get in the way of modelling. Progress since last time include gloss coating and major decalling, still have to add stencils etc. Panel line wash drying now- hopefully add some more photos over the next couple of days
  9. Looks good- going to have to get me one Bill
  10. Au contraire- the 509th FS 405th FG has at least one, a/c number 42-28382, a P-47D-26, squadron code G9 K. And apparently still had three others but I haven't been able to verify that Bill Watt
  11. More photos- Model Master Faded Olive Drab has been sprayed in randomish patterns, the red cowl band has been added, and the undrecarriage bays are done minus a few touch ups
  12. Hello, 'tis Model Master Olive Drab over flat black panel shading- it's now been oversprayed with a light coat of Model Master Faded Olive Drab in a randomish sort of pattern. I'll add some more photos tonight Bill
  13. Thanks The exhaust staining is brown black and dark grey airbrushed in layers, gun staining (a bit overdone) is Tamiya NATO Black, and the chipping is flat aluminium applied with a torn off piece of sponge held in a set of tweezers.
