  1. At that time, we'd just switched from a left-leaning Labour party-led coalition to a centrist-right cabinet - partly fallout of the Lockheed bribery affair which involved HRH Prince Bernhard. So a lot of dour faces and general distrust of the 'industrial military complex', and don't forget there were already major anti-nuke protests* going on. Best not to present a too 'happy' face on a new purchase *yes those were to an extent sponsored by the USSR with money transfered to activist anti-militaristic peace movement groups - par for the course really during the Cold War....
  2. You know Airfix is going to pull a Schwarzenegger, right? "It'll be back!"
  3. FSD or Production radar nose & fuselage stretch as opposed to the slimmer nose as seen on the demonstrator/ YF-16 like in the DVH cover in your first post If it matches the Italeri or any Hasegawa kit you have, it's good.
  4. I'd just go off the box art, mainly. Reasonably useful angle on this one. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/azmodel-az-7856-heinkel-he-162b-6--1505765 No-one can prove you wrong!
  5. Weird, the later A05042A did not have those issues so it's not the moulds themselves.
  6. Wouldn't be the first time decal sheets contain errors.
  7. I'm a simple guy. I see a nice BrĆ¼ggen Phantom, I press like. What can I say?
  8. Lovely finish on that black. At least you had the benefit they were 1/48 scale I did the BC-1 aerials in 1/72... still recovering
  9. IIRC many of the cartoons were from Ton van Andel, nicely referring to the then-political climate with a typical Dutch slant. Published by Martin Leeuwis, many probably know or recognise them from the 'Say Again' series comics. Nice to see the venerable Revell H-219 showing up. I still have the engine on carriage & tow truck extras, although the F-16 itself was replaced with a later kit. Did the Revell have the FSD nose? Not sure anymore...
  10. It might help if you mention the kit number. I think they released about a dozen versions!
  11. As a corollary to that, Ventura (yes that Ventura) has several PR Spit and other related videos recently recorded. https://www.youtube.com/@VenturaPublications
  12. As an aside to this subject: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/videos/flying-leatherneck-aviation-museum-to-leave-san-diego/3373022/ Leaving for.... Irvine. btw: haven't these guys ever heard of a weed hacker? If I were to stumble across that collection, I too would believe it abandoned because of the lack of groundskeeping.
  13. Why, may I ask? 514 Sqn is documented as JI and later A2 for C Flight.
  14. Well, the ancient Greeks did not have a word for a primary blue either, so who are we to begrudge this use of green?
  15. I admire your boundless optimism
  16. uhm.. DB-7 (no suffix), yes. B/C models however.. some of the ex MLD order were reassigned and shuffled around. Some even went to USSR. But besides that: a short-fin DB-7 means a new fuselage as the MPM/SH one is complete halves except nose parts.
  17. Low fuselage or high-back? https://www.eduard.com/aircraft-and-helicopters/1-48/spitfire-mk-ixe-overtrees-1-48.html Otherwise, hunt for one of these: https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?q=Supermarine Spitfire Spi*&fkSCALENORMALISED[]="1:00048"&fkSECTION[]=Kits&fkCOMPNAME[]="Eduard"&fkSUBJECT[]="Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk.IXe"
  18. A nice Ventura vid that might be helpful in really finetuning the early IX:
  19. No. This is an early Mk.IX, with the bigger intake, but not the Aerovee. Eduard has moulded the lower wing such that replacing that is serious hacking about. For a Mk.IX with E wing, you would need the specified kit that actually has all the parts needed including the different lower and upper wings that have the appropriate gun hatches.
  20. As I understand it, a couple of Lindberg kits were also released under the French brand AĆ©ros. Perhaps that was one of those?
  21. welll... there were...
  22. That might be the switch to indirect (single point) injection, which was also used on Mitsubishi engines.
