  1. Just catching up… what an excellent job Alistair. I would say that this is conclusive proof of my contention that the P51 B/C with Malcolm hood is the best looking of all Mustangs, especially when done in this colour scheme (takes cover from the incoming deluge of dissenting opinions). Craig
  2. Been away for a few days and just catching up with this… what a shame Alistair but I have no doubt you will surmount the difficulties with your customary elan. Craig.
  3. Beautiful, just beautiful. I like the way you make producing works of art like this seem effortless. I was just reading in the new edition of Airfix Model World that the initial production run of this kit has sold out and I can see why. Craig.
  4. I would like to put on record my strong disagreement with this statement. This just keeps getting better and better Mark and I'm sure a spot of simulated grime will serve to disguise the brick joint. Craig.
  5. Whatever you call those colours, they're looking damn fine Alistair. This is really turning out to be a beauty! Craig.
  6. Good job you put it on that cutting mat. If you've laid it directly on the worktop, you would never have found it again! Is this some exotic Colourcoats hue I'm not aware of? As expected, this is turning out superbly. Looking forward to the paint, whatever colour it turns out to be. Craig.
  7. A thing of beauty Cookie. Craig.
  8. Baby steps, baby steps. Just don't get distracted by all those other projects! Craig.
  9. Welcome from another East Lothian resident! There must be something in the water… I suspect you may have found your spiritual home here. Enjoy! Craig.
  10. it’s statements like this that make me very glad you don’t work on the ECML. Well Alistair, I finally got around to buying the Arma Wildcat at the Perth show in a no doubt vain attempt to emulate your fantastic build of that kit, and this thread will doubtless lead to me adding the Arma Mustang to my must-purchase list. I’m looking forward to seeing the fantastic job you do of this. The headmaster of my primary school (whose name I seem to have forgotten, well it was 50 years ago) was a former Lancaster pilot who had known Leonard Cheshire and on several occasions, he told us children of his great admiration for the man. Craig. (I’ve just remembered. Mr. Watkins!)
  11. I hope you're wearing your jewelled battle shorts. I'd leave it black if I were you, it looks great like that. Craig.
  12. Are you sure this kit isn’t just a scam by the various manufacturers of filler materials? Still, you’ll conquer it in the end and as Chris says, nice save on the astrodome. Craig.
  13. If I may, I'd like to join the rousing chorus welcoming you back Ced. I anticipate a sharp rise the in the Britmodeller double entendre index imminently. Craig.
  14. Just read through this thread and one thing struck me, does the report specify where the yellow M was located? If not, is it possible that it came from the aircraft’s previous existence as G1+MT and perhaps was located somewhere (possibly on the lower wing?) where it was exposed by the crash or subsequent fire? Just a thought, great project anyway! Craig.
  15. That's a fine looking doodlebug Alistair but I fear its opponent may take an impromptu test flight when the scratching post's owner finds it sitting there. Craig.
  16. For me, one of the best things about Britmodeller is the way threads can dart off in unexpected directions bringing previously unknown information to light (and I for one had never heard of the V1’s anti tipping sensor). When said information is actually relevant to the subject on hand, that’s a bonus! So I don’t think you need to apologise Mark, I think you should be commended for continuing a fine old tradition. Which I will also do by recalling reading somewhere that the Tempest cockpit featured some sort of vent which allowed hot air from a V1 explosion to enter the cockpit and scorch the pilot’s forearm, another good reason to go for the tipping option. Craig.
  17. Glad to hear you’re finally getting Henry the Hernia sorted out Mark. Good luck, and I’m sure that once you’re sitting comfortably again, your progress will be even more spectacular! Looking forward to what comes next. Craig.
  18. That’s a good looking driver Alistair, he will do the job admirably. And I always enjoy seeing your fine mottling skills on display so I’m looking forward to the next update. Craig.
  19. Oh yes! Very nice timing especially after the expense of house moving. Wish my work did overtime. Those seams are gradually being won over by your charm and persistence. It’ll all be over by Christmas. Craig.
  20. Pro tip. smear your Optivisor lenses with Vaseline before checking the seams, you will be amazed at how smooth and undetectable they are. Of course you have to use the same trick when viewing the finished article. Glad to see the kitchen shots have survived the move to the new abode. And you'll beat those seams in the end. Craig.
  21. Good to see you back at the bench Alistair and glad the move has been completed successfully. I was in Wonderland last week, saw this kit for a very reasonable £15.99 and inspired by your build was very tempted. Then I cleaned my glasses, saw that it was actually £45.99 and my interest abruptly evaporated. I would never have made as good a job of it as you are doing anyway. Craig.
  22. Looking great Mark. I do hope your casual talk of Irish broad gauge doesn’t mean you’re going to be distracted before you finish this. Hint, hint. Craig.
  23. This is all looking very nice Mark. I hope Jane isn't reading this thread, she may note your interior decorating skills and get you working on a 1-to-1 scale project! Craig.
