Masked up, ready for primer.
Primed and ready to paint. Question is, do I paint it matt black, or as some sources say semi matt ?
As some of these night fighters were.
I think matt, then I can finish it with a semi matt varnish if needs be.

Wings on, although the fit wasn't as good on some other Tamiya aircraft. But nothing a bit of filler won't put right.
Jon
Now, this little window was a real pain. It didn't fit too well, so needed a bit of sanding and of course every time I trial fitted it, it fell inside.
And of course, the only way out, was the way in. Bit like getting coins out of a piggy bank.

Greetings from a sunny West Country.

Cockpit fitted into the fuselage and fuselage halves glued together, PE detail added to the side panels, which were then fitted.

So far so good, nice detail in the cockpit using Eduard PE.
I hope you enjoy watching this aircraft take shape, as long as this wretched virus doesn't interfere, I'll try a post daily.

Very neat and clean '09!
If anything, I miss the slight sheen of Luftwaffe finishes…
Kind regards,
Joachim
Funny you should say that, but looking at it, I think it’s a bit too Matt. I might respray with semi matt.

All done. I used the Eduard PE for the internals of the cockpit. Came out quite well, I think.
Not sure if it might benefit from a light weathering.
Jon
Not too good with the red line decals, but I am getting better.
Long way to go to match some of the finished kits on this forum.

All done. I've posted in 'Ready for Inspection'

Nearly done. All decals applied, just waiting for everything to dry off, then coating of matt or semi-matt varnish. Then I'll post in 'Ready for inspection'.
I hope you've enjoyed watching this little plane take shape, as much as I've enjoyed building it.
Not sure if I'm going to weather it yet, maybe a little.

Sprayed with grey primer. Then masked off the top surfaces and sprayed the rest light blue. Will mask off the blue tomorrow and apply one of the camo colours.

Nice work. I have this kit in my stash. I prefer later 109's but might give this a go sometime.
Looking forward to more progress.
Matt
It’s a simple kit, as you can see it has only two sprues, I complicated it by using an Eduard PE set for the cockpit. Comes across as a small, delicate aircraft.

Good result & a nice clean workspace!

Thanks. Always tidy up as I go. Bit OCD when it comes to my workspace.

And so it begins. I'm using the Eduard PE, which although it can be a fiddle, I think is good.
No problems so far, quite a simple cockpit.
Wasn't quite sure of the angle the yellow ended levers should be at, so if any one can cast some light on this, I'd be grateful.
Little bit of paint touchup and detailing.
But so far so good. As long as I don't catch this wretched virus, this should be a fun build.

Exquisite build! I really appreciate the detailed painting.
Very kind of you. Thank you.

I’ve just started the Tamiya Swordfish, to which I will add Tamiya PE rigging. Not used that before, so I shall see.

Very nice job. I have always like the lines of this plane and think it is one of the best looking propeller aircraft. Question for you: is this the old or new Eduard tooling of the Tempest?
Thanks. I have no idea whether it’s old or new tooling. There is a copyright date of 2018 on the box. I do know, that I’ve built better kits. Some of the parts didn’t fit too well, not sure I’d go for another Eduard kit (unless it was very cheap). Having said that, it was nice to get the PE parts as standard and the end result was ok.

It did cross my mind, that if I sprayed it satin, I might not have to give it a gloss coat, prior decals. I might try on a bit of scrap and see what the result is.
