  1. Hows it going? I managed to trackdown a kit on fleabay..... think i've seen the seller on here! looking forward to seeing your progress!
  2. Fantastic build! I want to do mine in the grey colour scheme also. Something about those day glo serials! Quick q... The lens underneath the cockpit (bluey colour) how did tou achieve that? looks like a clar part, but i dont think it is in the kit! With regard to Mirage 2000's... managed to get hold of one of those as well (needed to come to the UK from LAS VEGAS tho.. good ol ebay!!)
  3. Awesome work! I may have to try and hunt down the kit myself!
  4. Thanks all.... i'm starting to discover you never end up fully happy with a model. I can only see the niggly little things now ! grrrr
  5. Just finished the truly MASSIVE Trumpy C-47... (i know i know the air intakes on top of the engines are incorrect for a dak, but i absolutely dont have the skills to scratch build yet!) I have modified the number of windows and locations of the antennae for the BBMF aircraft along with other bits and bobs that vary today. Hope you like Should have said, i used the excellent Xtradecal sheet for ZA947...
  6. Hi everyone, Got my hawk from model hobbies today! (cheers guys) as i have found NO sprue shots at all on the net i had a quick go: The kit looks 100% better than the airfix, with alot more recessed panel lines and panels. The rivet detail at the rear is fantastic. Althougth there is a slight raise on the outside of the canopy where the divide screen sits, it is alot better than any other kit. The MDC is very finely detailed indeed! two of these me thinks i'll be ordering another Chris
  7. Latest one off the bench....... OOB except for some aeromaster decals as i wanted a "standard" in service set of markings... hope you likey Chris
  8. Thanks everyone! A new one off the bench now! pics soon! Chris
  9. Thanks for the all the comments everyone. Heres some pics from the squadron that this aircraft flew for (No 315 Polish Squadron) hope they are of interest!
  10. HI, The latest off the bench (around half an hour ago to be precise) Second go at camo following my MkVb spit. Great fitting kit with everything OOB. Decals were SO brittle for some reason. A lot of reconstruction needed to be done, with some letters splitting into several pieces. Unusual looking beastie, due to the canopy mod to give the pilots more space rather than the birdcage found on the P51 B/C.... Hope you like. Chris
  11. Thanks for the comments everyone... always encouraging to hear some feedback. The base is a £3 beech frame from ebay with a trimmed sheet of model railway scenery grass matting added. Very simple and cheap, but i think looks really effective.
  12. Latest one off of the bench. Tamiya kit, with a few PE parts. Somewhat of a forgotten war up here on the north east coast of scotland..... RAF Banff hosted squadrons of Beaufighters and Mosquito's who carried out numerous raids in Norway, on german shipping carrying essential stocks of metal to the reich. been digging around to get the history of the airfield and squadrons, and visited the site of the airfield as well.....
  13. Hi everyone, My second posting here......... just finished my first ever Spitfire build. I have no idea why over the last 5 years modelling i've never built one... i must be mad. The Tamiya kit as always was fantastic. I bought some aftermarket Decals from the Aeromaster range. The subject is AR501 "NN-D" from 1942. Flown by No. 310 (Czech) Sqn from RAF Exeter. Aircraft was built by westlands in Yeovil, and had a varied career working both the south coast and up in the Orkneys. The airframe had a couple of incidents, the first being hit by a Mosquito that overshot the runway at Exeter. The aircraft was repaired and was later converted to a Mk Vb with clipped wing and upgraded Merlin 45, following yeat another incident. The aircrafts registration was later changed to NN-A, and until recently AR501 still wore that scheme whilst being flown by the Shuttleworth Collection in Bigglewade..... Hope you like Chris
  14. Again thanks for all the comments. Thom thanks for highlighting those points. I however, like how the finished model has come out. I'm not a rivet counter (yet) so dont get too flustered over the odd inaccuracy, i like the full on loadout, and the fact its not seen often is another reason why i chose to model it this way. Order is in with Flightpath, the platform/ladder and the RAF diorama set. With regard to the bang seats, the neomega packaging stated it WAS the later design. As far as i could see they are, but hey.
  15. Thanks for all the great comments... I sense an order to Flightpath coming on C Something that may have to be brought up with model alliance then......
  16. Looking at the airfix kit the intakes are quite poorly shaped. They would of taken a fair bit of work to rectify with my very limited skill set. I did some searching around, and the touring (display) aircraft have these wrap up and fold away fod covers see http://www.planepictures.net/show.php?id=518712 for an example. I actually quite like the look of these, so went this route instead. Anyone any ideas where i can get a set of platform stairs to sit next to the cockpit?? C
  17. Hi everyone, My first model build posted here... be gentle! Just finished building probably one of my favourite "modern" day jets. Something about the Hawk... i dont no what but i like! Airfix 1/48th kit with the Neomega resin cockpit, and Model alliance decals. RBF tags are from Eduard, and the engine covers made from good ol Blu Tack...... Model has around 7 coats of clear to get a reasonably glossy finish without looking too toy like when working at this scale.... hope you like
  18. Hi Everyone, First post here and its going to sound like i'm begging (well i might be! ) In the middle of building the airfix 1/48th Hwk with the neomega tub kit. I'm after the model alliancce decal sheet MA-48105, or more to the point the 100 sqn set of decas for the all black scheme. I can only find one set over in holland, has anyone got a set they would be willing to sell or exchange? The exchange would only be for some 1/48th Max decals for the gladiator or the nimrod 1/72...... Thanks in advance! Chris
