  1. Looks very nice, will you post up more pictures once the article is out?
  2. Lovely looking hurricane there, looks so sleek with the early spinner. Is this how the engine exhausts looked on the early versions, haven't noticed this before where they emit out of the side rather then the end?
  3. @providence @Zoran Srb @Dave Klaatu @Vultures1 @Armorrich @morfman Thanks all for looking in and your kind words. I've just started on making a base for this so i'll post another pic once its all done!
  4. Fantastic, that first picture is spot on!
  5. Thanks @Zigomar, @cduckworth, @Toryu and @Mig88 for your comments. And @Toryu i definitely agree that I've been missing out by not doing more Japanese stuff!
  6. Thanks, glad you liked it especially the fuel tanks as I'm pretty chuffed with the weathering on those- glad they remind you of the real deal! The metal paint is just MRP 009 white aluminium. I did use tamiya smoke and aluminium to create some variation in the panels but it's pretty subtle (maybe too subtle). Its got a coat of VMS satin varnish all over which has dulled it all down
  7. Hi all, Just wrapped up my first Japanese fighter i've built since i was a kid. I had a choice from the stash, an Eduard Zero or this Finemold Oscar. I wanted a challenge and the Oscar's schemes looked far most interesting than a boring old zero! I've always liked the look of the Oscar and the way the fuselage tapers down to an almost unbelievably thin section at the tail, such an elegant aircraft to my eyes. The Finemolds kit gives you options to build either a late or early Ki-43 II and i settled on the early version depicting Satoru Anabuki's aircraft from 50th Hiko Sentai in Burma 1943. The build was fairly straight forward although i did encounter a few difficulties in getting the cockpit to fit and with the wingroots. I really struggled to fill the join and sand it smooth enough, especially obvious when the silver was applied (so don't look too hard!). Built OOB, the only additions being the brake lines, ignition lines on the engine and a couple of machine guns made from tubing. Looking at @Zigomar's recent model I wish I'd made the effort to open the engine cowls but mine was all glued on before i saw his excellent build. Looking at pictures of the camouflage, the edges of the paint look quite rough, so smooth airbrush camo wouldn't do. I got round this by applying hairspray first, then free handed the camo with the airbrush and then rubbing away at the edges to achieve the effect i was looking for. A few washes and oils later and here we are. I'm debating on whether to do a little base for this one as an airfield in Burma sounds like it would be fun to have a go at. I've also just finished the airfield scene for it to sit on. You can see more pics here in the diorama section https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235129154-mingaladon-airfield-burma-1943/#comment-4750308, but here's a few anyway That's all and thanks for looking Graeme
  8. Fantastic, I'm just painting the same kit atm. Great work on the extra details- did you open up the kit radiator flaps of get aftermarket? I really struggled with the wing root gaps to get them filled smooth (especially obvious with the metal finish-no blue for me 😁) but you've made it look seamless!
  9. Hi James, great to see this on here as well as at ipms lancs! Looking great and good to see the pics so can have a proper look.
  10. @Kov1985 thanks for explaining, it’s worked out really well,
  11. Looks great, so how did you get the resin to form the waves, instead of just being flat from a pour?
  12. Fantastic, looks stunning and your descriptions will help anyone looking at doing one of these themselves
  13. The resin has been poured! Got an annoying bubble which seems to have sprouted and set in the 20 min i wasn't watching it! Never mind easily hidden with the gloss gel. I've also added strands of dried hot glue as splashes from the drips from the x-wing. So almost at the most daunting part-sculpting 1:110 figures 😵‍💫 Pre gloss photo of resin with tape dam:
  14. This is extremely good, well done and thanks for sharing.
  15. Thanks @Uncle Monty, do you still think that covered in swamp slime? Think I'm now ready for the resin pour now that the slime has been added. This was done my mixing in strands of cotton wool and thread in with a gloop of gloss gel, a drop of paint and some fine flock for texture. I may add a green oil wash over the slime but I'll wait till its dry before deciding if it needs it.
  16. Wonderful, just caught up with this and you've done an exceptional job! Looking forward to seeing the diorama unfold.
  17. Looks great, nice work and good clear pictures to boot!
  18. Getting there, slowly but surely! I've got the box constructed and installed the lighting. The light in yoda's hut works really well but the remaining 3 LEDs providing the downlighting aren't quite strong enough. I've added a strip of tin foil to the roof board to reflect as much light as possible back down, but it's still a little gloomier than I'd intended. Got the x-wing in position on its acrylic rod, although i'm now a little concerned that the heat from the resin cure might distort this. I'll have to keep an eye on it and pull it out if necessary, although it will be difficult to get a drill in to make a hole after the resin has cured, so i'm hoping to won't come to this!
  19. Haven’t seen this before, looks like it was the inspiration for the hetzer!
  20. This is really nice! Been looking at getting some of these props for a while now, you’ve just nudged me a step closer!
  21. Thanks all for the kind words! @VinBizz4786_ yes just tagged in a bit of a star wars build series i've found myself doing atm- the links here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235122043-carrying-on-from-docking-bay-94-a-star-wars-build-series/ Just got to scroll right to the bottom!
  22. Thanks for having a look, actually just enjoying looking back at this one - arm deep in degobah atm!
  23. Mmm good question. I think I will have a go at the Andor Saw Gerrera base but with just one x-wing. The other is up for debate, happy to hear anyone's suggestions!
  24. Well a bit more progress to report on. I've added more vegetation and vines and painted the trees. I've also cut the box walls and painted them with the diffuse light stripes. Having tested them in the scene i think i need more vegetation where the walls meet the base to smooth the transition. Once that's done I'll be adding the lighting to the roof (with more vegetation that hangs down slightly) and Yoda's hut and then it will be ready for the resin (make or break....)
