  1. It looks excellent! The stowage has been painted brilliantly, you've made that plastic look soft! Brilliant crusader
  2. I moved from 1/35 to 1/48 a while and haven't looked back since! I think the main benefit for me is that i can create a larger diorama/vignette in 1/48 which takes up the same space or less as 1/35 on the shelf. I probably get more enjoyment out of making the base than the kit, so the fact that i can pack more in in this scale is a big win without compromising on detail at 1/72. The main drawback for me is the very limited range of figures at this scale.

    GRK's 2023

Well a bit of a lean year for me exemplified by posting the 2023 yearbook back end of Feb 2024! To be fair i've had a big extension done on the house and lost my hobby space for a good chunk of the year. This 1/48 Jagdpanther just snuck in Jan 23! Set on Hill 226 Normandy 1944 https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235120521-jagdpanther-on-hill-226/ Followed by a change to Star Wars and Docking Bay 94: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235123754-docking-bay-94/ Then my Ki-43 Oscar: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235128016-ki-43-hayabusa/ and the base for it: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235129154-mingaladon-airfield-burma-1943/ And that's all folks!
  4. Looks amazing! Fantastic job all round
  5. She's a thing of beauty. What an amazing job you've done! Congratulations on the awards!
  6. Excellent work, that water is spot on, especially under the helicopter
  7. This is fantastic, so many great details! It all looks so convincing, even the house number is unmistakably a French house number sign! Love the animals (chicken and egg and pigeon-complete with pigeon poo beneath the light in the floor). How long before he notices the egg and puts it in that crate?! FANTASTIC
  8. You may be pleasantly surprised to hear that board games have had a real resurgence over the last few years. There are thousands of different ones, good time to introduce the young uns to them!
  9. Lovely looking model Jon. She looks lean and mean!
  10. Thanks @Toryu, @modelling minion and @Pete in Lincs. Glad you all like it
  11. They all look great, you should be happy with the results!
  12. Thanks, it's just the AK dry earth crackle effect stuff on top of my own texture paste (soil, grout and pva)
  13. Thanks @Old Man, @HL-10, @Muchmirth and @Bullbasket for your comments. Glad you like the palm @Old Man. Its a stick with tamiya tape wrapped round it, which is then scrapped back with a blunt hobby blade to roughen up the edges. The leaves have been snipped from my wife's house plant and cut into shape, painted and varished. They curl up quite a bit after being cut off the plant but that adds nicely to the shape of the palm. No idea how long they'll last- haven't really used real plants in my modelling before so time will tell. I've taken a few more pics- one for a bit of context as its quite hard to visualise what it looks like without the backdrop and some pics of the butterfly and spider!
  14. Hi all After posting my completed 1/48 Ki-43 (Oscar) https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235128016-ki-43-hayabusa/ a few weeks back its now sitting happily on its completed base. I wanted to put a bit more effort into the frame itself and thought of the idea of mimicking the aircraft's camo on some evergreen sheet with leftover decals and a ragged edging with balsa wood. I enjoyed making all the vegetation which is a mix of laser cut paper plants and bits of real leaves, varnished and painted, like on the main palm tree. There's even a butterfly and a big spider in there but I've forgotten to take a picture of these so you'll just have to believe me for now! I thought the cracked earth effect would show the range in climate experienced, i.e lots of heat after the monsoon drying up the mud. The pilot figure came with the Finemolds kits and it actually pretty nice. A few boxes left over from a T-34 and a tarp over a bit of foam completes the airfield clutter. I like to get a bit creative with the photography and set up the finished piece infront of my PC screen with a appropriate full screen image as a backdrop. Low angle is key! Thanks for looking! Graeme
  15. Very nice work on this kit, the tracks make a big difference-any video of it moving like your other builds?
  16. Thanks Keith, the diorama was finished a while back, posted here : Thanks @witjas4, your Churchill looks fantastic and i'll keep and eye for your Jagdpanther!
  17. Fantastic modelling and an interesting subject, this is a new one to me
  18. This is fantastic, I'm amazed when anyone gets this kind of detail and quality in 72nd scale
  19. Thank you very much, didn't think I'd be speaking to some from Imphal about my model!!! Thanks for having a look. @Fred piket and @russ c, thanks both for your comments!
  20. I use hairspray and Tamiya acrylics and just do it all in one session. Spray the hairspray, by the time I’ve thinned my paint and got my airbrush set up the hairspray has dried. So I’m painting 5min after the hairspray and then by the time I’ve cleaned my airbrush I find my paint is dry enough to get the water on and start chipping. So I’ve found doing it all in one session works for me

I use the insulation sheets for my bases. I normally glue a layer or airdrying clay on the top to seal it for painting and sculpt the waves. Check out studio blue ocean on you tube of you haven't come across those videos already
  22. Thanks @georgeusa, glad you like it. I read in quite a few places that the Fine Molds kit is more true than the Hasegawa kit- while I'm no Oscar expert I think it looks the part and the kit had some nice details. Agree- its definitely too easy to get carried away with weathering. MUST RESIST!
  23. I mean hang on there a second Jeff! I didn't scratch build mine, oh and its a little bit bigger!!!! I think you've done a great job on getting the shape, especially with the extra shaving to taper the fuselage.
  24. thank you! Was quite pleased when it worked out. I fully expected everyone to refer to this as the GRK technique from now-although I’m going to have to come up with some clever line on how it differs from the hairspray technique 😂
