  1. I have recently gotten back into building models after many years. I have a couple of unfinished aircraft still collecting dust. A few months ago I peeked in my small stash an saw some tank models and built a couple. 2 months ago I bought a Tamiya Tiger I late production with tank crew. My first Tiger and my first attempt of many things during this build like adding zimmerit. I was convinced to add the tank in a diorama. My first attempt at that too. I had some extra German soldiers and incorporated them into this build. Now if I can figure out how to add some pics I'd like to share this build with y'all... Well, I cannot seem to figure out how to add them via a URL...
  2. and one guy. It's the first time I had ever painted people.
  3. Well, I have at least one attached. πŸ˜„
  4. I have tried to upload pics again, today. I followed the suggestion on the forum page. Sorry, I really would like to share my work.
  5. Yes, I have heard of the hairspray method, but I have not tried it yet. Thank you for the compliment on my puppy. He was a good boy. He was my second one. I had him for 15 years and my first for 14 years. they are silly and crazy smart. Unfortunately, I am unable to post photos. I have tried and tried. I'll try again tomorrow.
  6. I don't know if this is a new method for chipping. What I have done for my 1/48 B-17G is spray it all chrome (I got this spray can at ACE Hardware in Houston Texas). I spray the plane's outer parts. After a drying period, I then spray the outer parts with the olive green. When the topcoat dries, I can fleck pieces out with a pick or a razor, but what I have done to get a larger and irregular chrome flecking is use a strip of masking tape, blue, or the common cream color tape. I stick it to the part and pull the tape off then it removes the top layer of green revealing the chrome. Like I stated before I do not know if this is a new trick or has been used over a period of time. I thought I would share this "trick". Gary G.
  7. Wow! These are all fantastic suggestions! I could possibly integrate these ideas into one. Thanks a lot guys!
  8. Hey y'all, On the bench is an Eduard Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 1:48. The cockpit area is a bumper pad. Does anyone have any suggestion what I might use to add something a little more prominent since the part is thin in that area? Thanks in advance. Gary
  9. Looks like I might need to prep the O.R.. Very helpful y'all thanks so much for your help.
  10. I'm sitting here at work hopping on different model sites looking at details for the Focke-Wulf Fw-190A8 from Eduards. And I noticed I might have glued the cockpit assembly a little off kilter and having a gap. I used Taymia extra thin. My dilemma is how can I separate the cockpit from the fuselage without compromising the integrity of the plastic. I *think* I have heard of applying the Tamiya cement on it to loosen the parts and also mild fingernail polish remover... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary
  11. Thanks, guys. It does seem to be tedious and requires a lot of practice. I might give it a try on some extra styrene, but then again, possibly use post shading techniques to not mess up. Y'all helped me out a lot. Thank you!
  12. I have pushed the B-17G to the side for a moment ever since I got an Eduard Focke β€” Wulf Fw 190A -8 1/48. This has proved to be a really fun build. My dilemma is; I do not understand pre shading if the lines will eventually be covered up by paint it just seems like this might be an unnecessary step. I have watched so many videos about this process and each video shows the lines being covered. So, if I were to understand the purpose and tried using it on a stealth like a 117, would it be a waste to apply it on a black fuselage? I don’t want to come off sounding like a jerk, I am confused about this topic and looking for the benefits on why and how this works when the lines get covered up. Thanks!
  13. Aircraft could not (and still not) have been perfect all the time. Covering whatever came their way with paint that was within the same color scheme. In fact my buddy who flew Blackhawks in Iraq had four different black color on his bird. I decided to do the same on my Revell B-17G. At first it was to cover up my salt chipping fiasco. I used an olive drab to cover up, what looked like a sneeze from Silver Surfer, and to try out my new air brush. Have any of y'all done this using different shades to give it a more "workhorse" look? I'll post a picture later today. Looking for honest feedback πŸ‘I know I can count on y'all.
  14. Thanks Rob. I'll give it a go.
