Thanks for that Spike, I might take you up on that sometime! Last night and tonight I made a start on my little Harrier. First off I thought I'd tape the main parts together to see how much trimming, cutting, sanding, swearing etc would be needed overall. I was surprised to find that for a kit this size the major components fit together quite well (I hope I don't regret saying that later on!). The cutting mat is A2 and shows how big (or not!) the kit is. I have also made a start on the engine. I don't intend to have it on display or have the upper panels or wings loose but I'd thought I'd see how it all went together. Again, I am surprised how well it goes together, especially considering the age of the kit. I've also decided against having the nozzles moveable. Whilst waiting for the engine parts to dry I started a couple of other bits! Thats all for now, I intend to start on the cockpit at the weekend if the weather is good enough to go outside to do a bit of resin sanding!

Well, having only finished one model in the last few years and having far too many unmade kits in the loft I've decided to join a group build with the aim of getting something finished within the deadline. I've recently decided to downscale to 1/48 but have kept a few kits I'd like to build in the larger scales, I've always liked the idea of building a big Harrier and putting it in a case in the living rooom (if I can get away with it!). I think I paid £20 for this kit at Fairford a few years back, they had the Sea Harrier for £25 and I'm gutted I didn't pick one of these up too. This is the kit I'll be having a go at: This is the after market stuff I'll be using, the Heritage cockpit & landing gear sets, I'm not sure how much of it I'll use yet though: My first progress, trimming some of the resin bits: I don't know what colour scheme I'm going to finish it in yet or whether I'll do anything about the rivets, I'll make that bit up a bit further down the line! Any advice or anything nasty to look out for would be most appreciated. I just hope I ain't bitten of more than I can chew! Cheers, Carl.

I'm in with a 1/24 Harrier GR3 (I think!). My first ever GB so in at the deep end! I'll get my thread started later. Cheers, Carl. oops, just noticed I should have posted in the "list your builds here section"!

Nice to see a few of the older kits get released such as the Harriers, personally I think it's a good thing that there aren't too many new 1/48 releases as it's going to work out expensive enough with the Merlin & Lynx's! I presume other older kits could be released at a later date without being in the catalogue? Was the Lightning in last years list to be re-released this year? Cheers, Carl.

Fantastic pics, thanks for posting. This was my first ever airshow as a 14 year old space cadet. I'd love to see more if you have any. Cheers, Carl.

Thanks everyone! No I didn't, partly because we didn't really have time and I've also seen a what happened to a chap I know when his picture got into the hands of his mates at work! (although he was standing like a tea pot!). Hopefully on my next lesson it will be more of the same. The next milestone will be leaving the circuit for the first time on my own. Cheers, Carl. -
Yesterday I went solo for the first time, the first big milestone of getting my ticket. It's hard to explain the feeling having just taken off and landing without you instructor being sat next to you! Cheers, Carl.

Evening all, does anyone know the release date of the Lightning? I've got an idea for a xmas pressy (for myself and someone else!). I'm hoping it's this side of xmas! Cheers, Carl.

Lovely Tornado. Cheers, Carl. -
Unless someone has released one in the last few months I'm pretty sure there isn't one in 1/48, only 1/72 (Dujin & Heritage). I used to work on them hence why I'd also like one in 1/48. Perhaps if enough of us ask Ian at Heritage he might think of doing one in 1/48 to go with the rest of the RAF trainers... Cheers, Carl.

I regularly check Smiths for the latest modelling magazines and even the staff said they didn't get it in so I don't think I missed it! It doesn't matter though, I'll just order it online. Jay, PM sent. Cheers, Carl.

Scammell tank transporter with T-34

Lovely model. I remember making the Airfix kit for a chap that owned a Scammel Pioneer years ago. I'd like to have a go at one of these but the kit's a little bit expensive for me! Cheers, Carl. -
That's not good, I quite like this mag. I asked the staff at the Smiths in Salisbury and they said they didn't get the last issue in. I don't think I'll take out a sub just in case then! Cheers, Carl.

Has anyone who usually buys this in WH Smiths every month had any problems getting hold of the September issue? I've been in 2 or 3 different stores and none of them have it. I asked today and they don't understand why the last issue wasn't delivered. Time to subscribe I think! Cheers, Carl.
