  1. First attempt - Mk3 Ford Escort XR3i in black - 7 driving lessons - result: failed Second attempt - Opel Manta GTE in white - 3 driving lessons - result: passed For the first attempt the assessor thought I was driving to fast inner city and to slow out of city (despite me thinking that I was doing exactly 50 and 80 km/h as per the road signs). Second time around, same assessor, same student, but a different car. It was winter, proper winter (winter between 1985-86 in Denmark was very cold and white) and after doing a u-turn at a light signal, only a few hundred meters from the Police station where the driving test would normally end, I found myself driving on the dedicated cycling path. I “discretely” corrected the matter and back on the road again the assessor said that I could just park the Manta nose-in at the Police station, a sign that you would normally have failed the test! And then he said something like “congratulations, as I’m sure you have a feeling yourself, it went much better this time around”. No reason to argue with a Police man who just told you that you passed the the driving test, more so as my dad was waiting for me at the Police station in my “new” Ford Escort Mk2, which I had already bought months before (in anticipation that I would pass the test the first time around). Obviously I was driving home from the Police station, clearly remembering feeling that an almost 10 year old 1.3L Escort felt a bit lame compared to a new 2.0L Manta GTE 😁
  2. This maybe? But I want a 🇩🇪 flag 🙈
  3. Good question! Well, it was just a fancy word to denote that the diorama was non-permanent (basically just a pile of red sand on the dining table), opposite to building something on a diorama base.
  4. Thanks a lot Peter !! Not to fear, once mankind put foot on the moon again, soon moon dust will be readily available in your local LIDL (they got to finance it somehow …) 🚀
  5. Thanks a lot Pete and yes Herpa does some really good model cars in H0 scale. Sand storms are somehow fascinating, but also a bit annoying when you live there, especially when followed by a few drop of rain and then you would have this and a day of washing vehicles!
  6. Hmmm, maybe a Scania V8 🚛 ……
  7. Hi @Col., I did start a HASEGAWA A-10C Thunderbolt II kit some moons ago in the Bomber/Strike/Ground Attack GB, but unfortunately I never finished it. It somehow deserves to be finished, so if it could be considered within the usual 25% rule I would be very happy to participate in this A-10 STGB 😊 Will have to check how far I actually got, but as per my WIP basically I started work on the engines, fuselage/wing assembly and the cockpit. So still many hours of work left for a notorious slow builder like myself 😎 Cheers Johnny b
  8. Good evening fellow BM’s, My first post here in the diorama section, so be kind please 😁 Just wanted to share some photos of a “pop-up” desert diorama I did yesterday, trying out some new LED photo lamps Santa brought the mistress and I for Christmas. Materials used: - black structured cardboard for the road, with a painted yellow line - red sand from the emirate of Dubai - 2 x Dubai Police cars in 1/87 scale from HERPA Photo setup: - iPhone 15, mostly using zoom x 2 - 2 x LED photo lamps on tripods Here to learn, so your feedback and comments will be greatly appreciated 🙏 Thanks for stopping by! Johnny b
  9. Thanks Pete, knowning that Bean is in town, the local Mayor has put the emergency services on high-alert 🚒 🚑 🚓
  10. Good evening fellow BM’s, Sorry for the recent radio silence, but somehow this year just wasn’t for modeling. However, just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, with the hope that 2024 will be full of happiness and good health for you all !! Hopefully Santa will fulfill all your wishes and 2024 will be a record breaking modeling year for us all Merry Christmas & happy New Year Johnny b
  11. I haven't really managed to finish much since I build my first kit back in the late seventies, so maybe this would be the chance 😁 Not completely sure what my very first kit would have been, but possible a German battleship (Bismarck?) in a smaller scale ... ??
  12. Plenty of 1/87 scale fire and civil defence vehicles in the stash, just need to build a diorama for them so count me in please 🚒
