  1. Thanks, I've hidden the engine because it's not there. I built it. Painted and weathered it and then tried to get the cowling to fit. However the kits not designed for that. I eventually got it to fit but because WAAAAAAAY back making the cockpit I misaligned and I mean like 0.5mm misaligned the fire wall the whole front end twisted and there was a HUGE gap in the cowling. It was horrible so I had to rip the whole engine out to get something remotely close to fitting. It was a me problem but also kind of a kit issue as the tolerances aren't as forgiving in certain areas like a tamiya kit is. I was really gutted but I wanted the cowling on so made the call. But if it helps the engine looked great. 😂
  2. Thanks My post wasn't meant as a dig btw. I get your points.Johnson was very particular about his bird. But I thought sod it. 😂
  3. It was a lot more banged up than people think but not that far tbh but I wanted the full stripes so I went with that.plus I'm going with laterin the summer when it's been worked to death before the painted over the stripes. There aren't a huge of references of JE J around this time but others were battered so went with my gut.
  4. No, I don't. Others did so I took creative liberties.
  5. Thanks! It was very hard to not go TOO over the top. It's a little overdone for Johnsons spit but I wanted to show wear as alot of people think they were all pristine.....they really weren't.
  6. Airfix 1/24 Spitfire MkIXc I'm also aware the crowbar isn't red. It's a long standing joke/bet between friends. Just to save anyone the trouble of "I think you'll find" posts. 😂😉
  7. Great kit. Not my finest effort so far but having a blast making it. Exhaust stains
  8. Thanks. The camo wasnt masked tbh just hand airbrushed.
  9. No. Not my bag unless its a commission and then Id question it. I dont see the need. People knlw what it is already.
  10. Been a while, hello! Decided to set a little challenge and to make this cheap Tamiya kit with no decals. All the markings are masked and painted. Weathering with Abtielung Oils. Its the cheap £20 kit and I didnt spend much time on the actual build if im honest butIm happy with how it ended up. So much so I've started a Vulcan and have made a custom 617 XL321 set of masks.
  11. Yes, i believe thats their optimal use. They need to go on a matt surface with very low pressure and spiderweb if you stay on one spot too long.
  12. Thanks for the kind words as usual John 👍
  13. Because its not a tank, its an assault gun. 😉😂
  14. Yeah, i build to enjoy the painting process and not got into crazy detail over historical accuracy as frankly builds would look incredibly boring to me if i did. I, like alot of people apply artistic license. Theres one "shiny" edge tbh, everything else is just light hitting the surface. Also its painted and done now so additions like cables and stuff? The horse has already bolted on that front. Plus i built it out the box and only added a few extras. Theres ALOT more i could have done to get it more accurate but i had neither the time nor the inclination to do so.
