  1. Wings and booms have gone together fine the cockpit tub will drop in right towards the end, I hope while I adjust the dihedral I can close the wing root, will have to wait and see.
  2. Dry fitting all the elements as there are so many contact points to glue I want to see the best way to approach it in order get the best fit. At this point it looks like these are the steps I will follow 1. Fix upper wing to engine/tail boom x2 2 Fix lower fuselage to upper wing x2 3. Fix lower wing to upper wing 4. Drop in the cockpit and fix to wing roots and adjust dihedral, this should leave no gaps, fingers crossed.
  3. Thanks Mick. Well since you asked! When I looked around the sprues the parts were nicely mouled and very nice detail I thought it was going to be a pleasant build. Unfortunately parts are not numbered on the sprue I constantly go back to the sprue map, so muchntime is wasted. This isn't a kit for the novice builder, the instructions don't show how the parts go together (aka 1970's style) so I'm doing a lot of dry fitting and checking sub assemblies go together before glueing. That's fine by me it just require more care and patience. Having said that I think it will cone together alright.
  4. Thanks Col. Here's the cockpit I scatched some bits and bobs and will add some ammo canisters too.
  5. My entry into this Gb is MPM's Fw189A-1, I'll be presenting it as the box art.
  6. I'm glad I'm not alone I hate leading edge seam lines. Having worked on so many techniques I still haven't perfected the best solution but I think I'm getting close. What has worked for me up 'til now is Mr Surfacer 500, 1200 and 1500. I use each grade depending on the severity of the fault. Now the only problem is it shrinks, so to counter act this requires a lot of patience by building layers with one application every 24 hours. Once I've built up enough layers to the point that it leaves a bump I know I can sand back Even sanding has to be done slowly using different grits. When I think I'm close to finishing I'll apply Surfacer 1500 to connect the plastic that doesn't have any filler to the filler, I hope that makes sense. This allows a smooth transition between plastic and filler. The key to my process is careful sanding and taking your time. The intention is not to take off so much that your back at the seam line again. You can even use levelling thinner to smooth things out. It's certainly a slow process I've spent a week, an hour a day, just to fix wing leading edge joins. Sorry it does sound very tedious. Whatever works I guess.
  7. Thank you all, ended up being an enjoyable build along with the participation.
  8. Finished, head over to gallery Thanks for looking
  9. Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R11 white 9 Dragon 1/48 Night Fighter Test vehicle for Fug217 J2 Neptune Thank you to all for participating and assisting with the build.
  10. Thanks Rob I've painted them black. Well spotted on the landing lights, I missed that oh well this plane has an upgrade. 😄
  11. Need your assistance please what colour are the fug antenna? The left side looks black but the right side looks like it's rlm76 or is it just the way the sunlight is hitting it. What do you believe they would have been painted. My thought is they would have come painted in rlm76.
  12. Is that a combination of old tool new tool I wonder
  13. Thank you Ray, this last part with undercarriage was especially fiddly I guess no worse than an Eduard kit. It's my Achilles heel. I'm going to make mention of the problem area's with building this kit as a warning to all and a reminder for me when I build another Dragon Fw190 in the future. *Use a spreader to fix wing root gap. *Glue upper part of wings only after bottom wing is in place, this will remove wing root gap and better set wing dihedral. *Place a spreader in front engine exhaust to allow for less gap when joining engine power egg to the plane. *You can throw away the p.e.
  14. I was just having a look at the gallery and I'm very impressed with the work being presented. Congratulations to all those modellers who have presented their builds so far.
  15. The end is in sight. Finished installing undercarriage, fug217 antenna and gun barrels. There's a bit of weathering to do on these parts and then it's finished. I have to minimise the amount of handling from this point for fear of breaking something. I hope you like it, here she is.
  16. A little more progress made. The Mr Hobby decal setting solution is a little too strong so it distorted the balkenkruez on the underside of the wings. I'll mask this up and paint to correct my folly. Once that's dry I'll move on to weathering with oils, apply exhaust staining and gun barrel staining.
  17. The decal sheet is very yellow so I've been leaving it in the sun on and off for the past 2 weeks and its improved but not there yet . I'm not confident I'll get the to go any whiter so I've been sifting through my other kits to find what I need. Wish me luck.
