I got these two kits on the (partial) lifting of our lockdown, as my stash is usually non existent. They both proved to be a treat to build and went together like typical Tamiya kits. The 222 was especially nice, as it had P.E mesh for the turret as well as an aluminium gun barrel. The WIP can be found here: Also, I would like to thank @Foxbat, @Hamden, @Ernst, @robw_uk and @Bullbasket for all the advice, kind comments and support. Apologies for pictures, we are having some plumbing work going on, so there is rather a lot of noise, but not a lot of space to take photos. The above one is take on the roof. Critiques and comments welcome. Stay safe.

German Pair- Tamiya's Sdkfz 222 & Horch 1a (1/35)
Vaastav replied to Vaastav's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
Hello all. Having been busy with this and that (and not falling prey to our policemen's batons) I haven't really had time to devote to the diorama/vignette/ piece of wood my models are supposed to sit on. Now I have by and large made it. The base is PoP laid on top of a piece of plywood, the house/hutment in the background is made out of scraps of wood held together by entreaties to the almighty and covered with PoP. Please tell me if I missed anything, or anything that can be refined. -
Hello all. I have an ISU 152 that has Berlin markings as well as Poland. Can I join?

Well well, it seems that the sailing howitzer (first of its kind) is looking like one now. Keep up the commentary Steve, never mind your wife and kids (they can't appreciate you the way we do). Great work- 438 replies

Great work John. Looks to be a beautiful model. Might I guess what comes after this? -
If you don't mind, may I tag along? Also, since you don't like drab and boring schemes, might I suggest Indian?

Gorby scratches an unthinkable whopper!

And we are back to normal. I can call the FBI, CIA, Mossad and R&AW off and tell them that the deranged modeller is in his designated space (behind the whopper) and is no longer a threat to all and sundry. Good to have you back @Gorby- 155 replies

German Pair- Tamiya's Sdkfz 222 & Horch 1a (1/35)
Vaastav replied to Vaastav's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
Hello all. Update time. I made (and painted) the Horch's driver. Including hand painting the camo. (Please tell me I got it right) The 222 was also finished up in a dusty & worn appearance. The driver of the Horch And.. as a bonus for those who stayed inside and helped fight corona (What else are modellers expected to do anyway when they have time. Go out?) : Its a shelf I made for my models, as space was a bit short once again, and everyone else is not allowing me to put any more in their rooms (the rotters) -

Thank heavens. I thought that sanity had returned from its caravan near Slough and you both had patched up. Happy that that isn't the case. Down with sanity I say- 155 replies

German Pair- Tamiya's Sdkfz 222 & Horch 1a (1/35)
Vaastav replied to Vaastav's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
I gave the Horch a drybrushing with Gunmetal, to try and simulate the sort of sandblasting a vehicle gets in the desert. I know it looks a bit overenthusiastic, but it will be toned down later with washes and dust and appeals to the powers above. -

Building is finished. Painting and application of decals was done. Once again I apologize for the horrendous shade, but as it is a concoction of my own invention (I don't have any readymade desert yellow) I have to play it by ear. I also did the figure, to the best of my ability, seeing as I am not too skilled in figure painting. Anyone with tips please PM me. Hans the commander in his domain The 222 itself Stay Safe -

Thanks Ernst. I am doing the 222 as an Afrika Korps one as well, maybe a dio with the Horch. Any advice? -

Further update: I finished the body work and moved to the turret. Tamiya provided PE Mesh for the turret & for the first time, I used some PE Please do tell me what the PE work is like, as I think I made a bit of a hash of it. Also , made the figure, and as he sits well enough will be using him. -

Update time: The gun has been made. The aluminium barrel is a nice touch. The turret: The upper body: The halves joined together Stay safe -
Despite all this threw at you, you made it into a stunner. If I had half your patience, I would have had more finished models. Kudos on the amazing look and patience
