  1. The medium green was then sprayed using Lifecolor UA-561. After a couple of coats of clear lacquer to protect the paint I maksed again and srayed Xtracrylix XA1110. Then I did a lot of faffing around with more masking and spraying to make sure all the bits matched up where they should. Finally I masked the undersurfaces and sprayed with a random Lifecolor light grey. This was because I had run out of Lifecolor UA-563 which is what I usually use for the SEA scheme undersides. I have Xtracrylix XA1140 instead. It's a good match but has a very poor covering power, hence my use of a random light grey as an undercoat.
  2. The disrutive pattern was sprayed with Xtracrylix XA1001 Dark Green. The undersurfaces are Xtracrylx XA1015 Light Aircraft Grey. I've done a bit of detail painting as well.
  3. The green pattern was sprayed with Xtracrylix XA1001 Dark Green. The undersrfaces were masked and sprayed with Lifecolor UA-623. Some touchups and detail painting.
  4. The fuselage interior is quite comprehensive - even down to the Elsan thunderbucket! I sprayed the interior with Xtracrylix XA1010 and used Florymodels dark wash to grubby things up a bit. The pilot's seat harness is from Eduard. Almost nothing will be seen in the middle cabin, but there is still some nice detail. Ready to fit into the fuselage halves. Like so
  5. Interesting that you should mention that. The Kitmaster/Dapol floor component is slightly longer than the Hornby bodyshell - about 6mm. So I compared the Hornby bodyshell to the Accurascale Deltic model. The Accurascale body is about 6mm longer than the Hornby one. However, if those 6mm were translated to the Hornby chassis, I don't think it would have made much difference to the performance on curves.
  6. I've been known to stand at the back brandishing a pitchfork...
  7. To be honest, the shape difference between the two fillets is imperceptible. The panels lines are different though. I personally think that Eduard could have got away with providing one fillet, but then I suppose they would have been loudly berated for it.
  8. @vppelt68 This is the fuselage sprue D from my kit.
  9. There is a lot of flash, as one would expect from a kit of this vintage. These are the Hornby bodyshells.
  10. I've found a photo of this particular aircraft in 1946 and it does indeed have the fin fillet.
  11. The kit I have is 84184 which is labelled as a P-51D-10. This has sprue D with a fuselage which has a filleted fin. However the fillet needs to be attached and there are two choices, D4 and D5 which you mention above. I would imagine that Sprue C is included in the relevant D-5 kit.
  12. Thanks, that's helpful. . As @TEMPESTMK5 pointed out, this particular aircraft was retrofitted with the fin fillet.
  13. One of my planned subjects is a P-51D-5. I will be using the Eduard P-51D-10 kit. Can anyone please tell me what the differences were between a -5 and a -10?
  14. Spray cans do need to be used carefully. I find that lots of thin coats are best. I tend to hold the model at arms length and just mist the paint on. Don't let the paint surface get wet because then it runs. For white, I find it is best to use white primer. There are many gloss white sprays usually intended for repainting household heating radiators. However I have found that the droplets from these sprays are quite large because of the viscosity of the paint.
  15. Don't brush it. Use white plastic car primer from a rattle can.
  16. Maybe Rose polishing a Rolls engined car at the Car Wash... Says he, knowing full well that Rose Royce is a band, not a person. The singer was Gwen Dickey.
  17. @Mjwomack is correct. A GB proposal should start off in chat. This is where it gets run up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes. Once we have co-hosts and enough people saluting to give it a bit of traction, then we can move it to the Proposals section. That's when the lobbying really starts.
  18. Interesting thought. There are two distinct marking schemes.
  19. That's my intention, although I think I also have a suitable Wolfpack sheet.
