  8. Consider it done - we'll crowdfund the Sunderland and the mancave 🤣
  9. Thanks very much Chris - I'm actually really impressed with the level of detail in this kit. SH have done a grand job (go on, you know you want to 😉) Cheers, Roger
  10. No parade rained upon Alan - every day's a school day! Really appreciate the input - it all adds to the body of knowledge, Cheers, Roger
  11. Hi All, Some good progress today! First order of business was applying the interior stencils and IP decal - here's the bomb doors (with 4 stencils each!): Once I'd finished those they were flat-coated - here's the finished bomb door: Aaand in position in the fuselage: I'm not displeased with those! Here's the IP with the instruments picked out with gloss: Again, not a bad effort for gentleman's scale - the decals are Cartograph, and are frankly excellent. The rest of the session was spent assembling the quite detailed cockpit. Here's the pilot's seat along with the raised platform for the IP & rudder pedals: You can see that I've added some rudimentary harnesses made from Tamiya tape - they'll be fine for this scale. Here's a (rather poor) shot showing the radar operators position: That was very fiddly to construct! Here's the navigator's table in position: The wood effect was achieved with a base coat of Mid-Stone with an Brown oil paint brushed over the top - doesn't look too bad? Here's a final shot with the rear bulkhead, control yokes and rudder pedals in position: That is one of the more detailed OOB cockpits I have seen in this scale - hat's off to SH! That's all for now, Thanks for looking, Roger
  12. Lovely work Pat - I do like your pre-highlighting technique, Cheers, Roger
  13. Chris, A superb finish and most engaging WIP. The level of finish you achieve with a brush is astonishing, Cheers, Roger
  14. Cheers Mark - I'm enjoying the detail before the inevitable omnishambles of assembly!
  15. Ooh get you! Maybe we should crowd-fund you a Sunderland - what do you reckon @AliGauld Cheers, Roger
  16. Chris, That is looking awesome - it still baffles me how you manage to achieve such subtle effects with a hairy stick. Impressive work my friend, Cheers, Roger
  17. Cheers Chris, It's actually a very detailed interior, although no doubt with the usual SH foibles. I'm pretty impressed so far TBH, although that will no doubt set me up for a fall. You should still buy one though 😉 Cheers, Roger
  18. Hi All, Some progress on the Sunderland today, which was interrupted by real life this afternoon (happily, this entailed meeting some friends at a couple of local wineries - no great hardship! 😍). Today's been mostly about the interior - here's the fuselage halves completed: Whilst I was throwing the aluminium around I masked and sprayed the transparent bomb bay doors: There's no less than 4 decals to go on each of those - a job for tomorrow. Whilst we're on the subject, I've never seen a decal like this in gentleman's scale before: For the hard of seeing, that does indeed state that the doorway is an Emergency Exit - there's no less than 6 of those tiny decals!! You may also note the scrappy khaki applied to the parachutes (?) on the bulkhead - these will be tidied up. Finally, here's a shot of the cockpit bulkhead: Detail painting is not yet quite complete, but you can see that I chose to paint the curtain in Neutral Grey as opposed to the Tan called out by SH. Now I did check my references (the incomparable 'Curtains of Coastal Command' by the Rt Hon F W Grumbleflick - it's quite a read 🤣), but just decided that the Grey was a likely colour, particularly after using a similar treatment for the window curtains on my recent Stirling build. I've actually also done most of the cockpit painting, but I'll post a further update on that tomorrow. I'm enjoying this so far! Thanks for looking, Roger
  19. Lovely work Mark - I look forward to seeing your 'hollow barrel' treatment. Almost there now! Cheers, Roger
  20. Gott und verdamerrung! I have done this too many times to mention - glad it's not just me!
  21. Mark, There is always a logic to your work, which is why it is so good. Looking awesome mate - not long to the finish line, Cheers, Roger
  22. Thanks for the kind words Martin - you should give it a go! It does add an extra flexibility in finishes and texture and really isn't that difficult to achieve at least a reasonable standard, Cheers, Roger
