Just a quick quiry with some advice - I am building the Flyhawk 1/700 kit (its a lovely kit) but at 1/700 scale do you think the railings would have been visiible dur to th scale difference, as in one of your pics looking aft from the weather deck close to the funnels the rails are really hard to see.

Evening all, some good progress today engine detail painting - starting with some Flat Alum in a few areas, this was followed up with some Flat Black then some Dark Brown Wash, this was brushed all over then using a watery brush it was taken off in some areas, I finished off with some Flat White dry brushing.

Morning all, I am going to display a couple of figures with my build - a driver near the front hatch (either climbing out of it - or sitting on the edge of it) and another one inspecting the engine).
Here is the driver.

Jon, I used an Acrylic Wash over my deck - I brushed it over then used a wetted brush to dilute it and to create a bit of variety on the planks.

Morning all, some more progress - I assembled the engine (this was made up from many sub assemblies) I then decided it was time to prime the inner detail and assemblies using my trusty Vallejo Acrylic Surface Primer, after drying I wet sanded a few of the over spray areas.

Evening all, some more progress today - I added a few more of the engine managment items, then I decided to have a go at the divers compartment, this was going to be a challenge as I had pinched some of the parts to do an internal in my Chally 2 kit, so I would have to work around and scratch some parts, this started by making up an internal bulkhead from oddments, I then added the rest of the parts - still need to make up a control panel from scratch.

Evening all, got some more work done in the engine bay and also the running gear was fitted, I had to scratch a side bulkhead out of surplus material in the kit.

I brought this kit at the same time as my RFM Chally2, but during my Chally build I stole some of the interior bitd from this kit to make an interior in the Chally turret, anyway I have decided to make this kit showing the engine bay and engine, but with the turret buttoned up.

Just a quick update - I have started populating the forward deck with the differet (tiny) fittings, some paint touch up will need doing after.
I have put it to one side for a bit to start on another build and give my eyes a rest.

Some excellent work there Erk! I like the effect on the wooden planking fore and aft. Did you use oils for the weathering?
Cheers

Thank you kindly, I used my Earth shade Acrylic wash - gently brushed it over then added some water to the brush to thin it a wee bit.

A more delicate way of saying, "the largest submarine in the world", methinks. Looking really good and enjoying seeing this coming together.

Good day all, a bit more progress the hull is now buttoned up, and some weathering added to the decks - more at the rear due to the frequent washing of the lower deck, also the front water break has been fitted/painted.

Evening all, some more progress, after doing some airbrush work to the deck fittings, next job was to fit both deck sheets down, then a dry fit on the hull.

Evening all, some good progress - I airbrushed the upper hull AP507A from my Lifecolour range, this went on a couple of thin layers, then It was put aside to fully dry.
Then Three days later I masked up the upper hull and mixed up some darker Grey for the Anti fouling, this was then airbrushed in about Four thin layers, this was then put a side again to dry.
Then a few days later it was the big reveal - and I removed the masking - turned out better than I expected.-, I then dry fitted it with the upper deck.
