  1. Evening all   - I'm  Back,   I decided to  put on hold my other projects  and  pick up where I left off  with this,    this calls for the ast of the buildings  in the shape of  the kitchen garden  shed/store  type building -  this is attached to a small area of paving  and a short length of wall.

I dis my normal trick with the brickwork  and  White paintwork   - still a bit more to do to it  before it can be placed against the Farm House.

Just doing a bit of snow product testing.

AK SNOW SPRINKLES looks more like heavy snow/ice than snow sprinkles to me.

The VALLEJO Snow doesn’t look very realistic to me. Its too thick and dried that way.

The AK SNOW MICROBALLOONS is the most realistic and lifelike product. It looks like fresh powdered snow, and its a very fine product (don’t sneeze). I applied it numerous ways to see the best effect:

I brushed some Tamiya acrylic thinner onto the tracks, then light sprinkled some microballons onto the thinner. Then I added some more thinner on top using a capillary action and a pipette. This worked really well, and can be refined once dry with a dry brush.

I also made up a snow slurry using tap water into a mixing dish. This was then brushed on to the tracks and it settled more like a wash. This worked well for getting the snow into corners, but the unfortunately wipes away too easy and doesn’t stick to the kit.

I also tried using VMS sand and ballast freeze but this was too thick to use a capillary action, but making a slurry works a lot better. This would be better for a heavier build up of fresh snow.

Nice work, Erk. I’ve used Tamiya Field Grey (CF-65/TS-78) for modern US vehicles in overall green.

There’s some new colours being rolled out on the SEP v3 which may be of interest. Two tone OD & Field greens.

  4. Great work,  I too  am in the middle of a 1/700  build  - yep my Flyhawk  Hood,   the scale of these models  and the tiny parts  are beyond belief,  I have decided  Not to put handrails on mine  after  looking at some  photos  of here and taking into  display  viewing account  from several feet  away  they would not have been  noticable.

  6. Morning all,    a bit more progress  made  -  continuing with the top of the turret  I  have built up CITV  device  but left to top section  just  dry fitted, I also made up the  loaders  hatch with its associated  bits,  also  within the  DEF  models  Resin  set  is a  some  rather nice  translucent stick on  sheets  for the  glass  viewing blocks  and  CITV/FLIR  sights  and even the cupla  vision blocks  are  accounted for, there is  even spare   for me to re do the  drivers  vison blocks.

  7. Morning all,   thought I shpuld update this  -  I went in to  Fith gear  and go quite a bit done  since my  last post  -  I  fitted some of the fittings  - tow hooks, track assist wheels, side skirt supports,   then  later  I closed up the hull  with the upper,     I then   started work  by adding all the fittings to the upper  hull  including a bit of PE  mesh.

I  have also started work on the turret  the lower  section was cleaned up  - the  gun  pinion section  was made and glued in place  (its  movable  for elevation)   then the  upper part of the turret  was  glued in place  and seams  cleaned up a bit.

I have also added a piece of wire to the drivers radio  as  the plastic  stub looked  so bad.

Here are the current pics  -

Following. I just bought this kit and would like to build showing the interior. Will likely need to cut the exterior to show

There have been some Superb  builds of people doing just that  -  showing the inner working as if its bean cut through  with a  sharp saw.
