  1. So  as I explained above  - I am currently working on all the bits that will make up my Mossie Dio,  they will (when finished)  consist of  Jeep and trailor, a tractor,  a generator, an oil pump, some other odds and ends  and some figures.

Here are what I have assembled so far.

  2. Hi all,   I started these Two  some time ago  - kind of at the same time as each other, as I would yoyo  back and fourth  between  each, I am doing the Seafire as an advanced proof of consept  version  that was a test frame between the mk.III   and Griffin powered mk, it was tested with the higher powered Merlin engine  and also had the clipped wings   and pointed tail,   also different from the normal mk.III   was the addition of the Two large under wing rads.

The other build is a Spit mk.IX  representing a RAF West Malling  version from 1944.

So straight in with a few pics so far  - spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

Thanks for letting me know the areas to look out for when I get round to building mine.

Your kit looks really good 👍 especially with the jeep, and base. Are you going to add figures?

    Cheers Greg

Yep  there is plenty more to go with the Dio yet   - watch this space.

All looks really good 👍 well done.

I have the same Mosquito kit in the stash but have yet to start it. There has been quite a bit of negative press about the fit of the components. How did you find it?

    Cheers Greg

The  main areas  with mine  - was  the engine nacalles  mainly the fronts where they meet the wings  (some strange gaps and a lot of fettling to get them to fit)    and the fuselage  fit  with the cockpit parts inside, this needs a lot of filing  down the edges and constant test fitting before comitting to close up the the two sides.

The main under carriage is difficult  as its both two short  and difficult to fit inside when assembled  - I got round this by adding some wood strip inside the u/c bay  about 2/3mm  under where the main legs fronts sit, and also  sanding down the  sides of the legs (where the oil tanks are)  this helped them fit inside the u/c  bays.

It is a kit that needs a lot (A lot)  of patience  and time to keep chaecking everything  - even the cockpit canopy is fiddly and needs care when putting together  - but it is well worth it  when it goes well.

  5. Just to expalin again incase I wasn't very clear  - I am making this into an airfield  dio  inlcuding  a jeep with trailor, some figures and equipment  and sat on a rather nice part mock grass  -  and slabs, I have started building the jeep first.

Here is some more progress with the jeeps body  - I have built it up added all the fittings  and started painting it in RAF Blue/Grey.

    And a dry fit.spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

  6. Hi all,   just update  "Dio alert - Dio alert"    I have had some bits sent to me  -  that allows me to do a diorama,   they consist of a set of RAF figures with some equipment,   an excellent base  part grass-part slabs,   and a jeep with trailor.

I have decided to start with the trailor  - constructing its chasis first, followed by some washes and high lighting.spacer.pngspacer.png

  7. I finished off my first stages by painting the fan flat spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngalum,  and the surround cowel  flat white,   I then glued the assemblies in place  and added a few bits of PE  inside the wheel well walls,  then after I masked up around the tub  and sprayed the sides where they will be hidden by the intake cowels,  then lastly  I glued on the fan unit.

  8. Hi all,   while my spit builds are awaiting some injection of mojo  to get them back on the build road,  I decided to crack open  and have a go at Kinetics rather nice Sea Harrier  FRS1, I last built a  SHAR in this scale  by building the infamous  Tamiya  version  (Oh dear  what ever I did I could not make a decent  rendition of a SHAR out of it)  this kit is in a different league -

I started with the tub  and gradualy  put the sections of it togther  -  mostly stock kit parts were used as they are quite good, I did however use the PE belts  and when the bang seat was finished I sealed it with brushed flat clear.     The instrument panel was from the kit  - painted mid grey  then  just needed the dials and screen darkening (I used a pencil)  then I did a bit of high lighting using flat alum  to bring out the details, same with the side panels  - a bit of black and high lighting,  that finiashed the tub.spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png
