Gidday, I did three last year and initially I did find the small size quite fiddly, but on the other hand the fit was usually better on them than what I was used to. And certainly the detail. I did get used to it. Admittedly the difference in size between 1/600 and 1/700 is not as great as between 1/350 and 1/700.
The detail on your kit here, Erk is definitely much better than the Airfix kit. But I guess you get what you pay for. Your build is coming along very well. Regards, Jeff.
Thank you kindly Jeff.

Excellent modelling - really love it. Detail is stunning.
In my collection I have a model of a Seafire III flown by Lt Mike Crosley who was spotting for Spunyard (HMS Warspite) on D+1..
Thank you kindly.

Smert, I'll find some other poor chap to discuss my stash with her then.
Back on topic, 'ood is looking mighty fine. The detail on these kits is quite flabbergasting, but it still takes skill to do this as well as the above, especially considering this is 1/700. Good job.
David
Yep - its a Superb kit its said to be the ultimate kit of Hood in any scale.

Will you also talk with my partner about why I must have it? It's got to the point where I've run out of places to hide the stash...and that includes in plain sight.
David
Offer to cook for as long as the kit takes to build.......

Next job was to work on the PE railings mainly on the main decks as some had already been placed on the other decks.

Good day all, next on the build was to do a small amount of rigging/wiring using fine fuse wire, I didn't go mad just some basic stuff, the front turrets were also constructed / painted and weathered same as the rear Two, incidently the side batbetts were covered up later in her life with the barrels removed same with her AA guns I assume becuase during DDay there was no threat from the skies.

Oh, don’t tempt me.
I did try to build a 1/700 destroyer, but failed miserably. It was far too small for me. I suppose The Hood, being a battleship is a bigger kit, but still too small for me.
Jon
I find the keys to working at this scale are - good light, good magnification - optovisors etc and a steady hand, I got some good practice in working on my 28mm waterloo figures - painting eys/buckles etc.

Hi all, bit more of an update - I am currently working on the Funnel stacks, I am making them as sub assemblies that will be painted prior to fixing down - so they are
part complete and just dry fitted.

Am I right in thinking that hoods anchor chains were White in colour?

Next I worked on assembling the front mast using a combination of kit and PE parts - it was then fitted to the conning tower.

The conning tower assembly continued, with parts attached to the main body, then the upper signal deck and upper bridge was made up, before fitting to the top with the various radar units.

While constructing the conning tower - I also made up the rear mast, instead of using the kit plastic one I decided to shape a wood dowel one as it would be stronger, attached to this was a few PE parts.

Evening all, right some progress to my weatherdeck -
Primer done (Check)
AP507A done (Check)
Corticene made up and applied with a brush (Check)
And lastly the rear part of the weatherdeck has had it tiny flimsy wood decking strip added.

Evening all, so after fitting the Two rear 15inch guns - I moved towards the front and started work on the base of the conning tower, this fits snuggly around the front turret, the base of it is decked so I fitted the pontos decking an dplaced a few tubs and some fittings, then I constructed the main part of the conning tower, I also made the signal patform this needed quite a bit of work to build up some searchlight platforms.
