Tamiya P-38F White 33 1/48 scale
Lightpainter replied to Lightpainter's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thank you, I did my best to capture the spirit of a P-38 that had seen action and especially White 33 the only P-38 with a war record still flying I believe. -

Thank you for your nice comments! I continually checked with photographs to see I kept it realistic. It could have even been better if it would have been totally riveted since there is a special pattern around the cockpit but I did not feel like doing the entire plane since photographic reference shows that you see very little of the flush rivets on the real planes! That you we have recovered and hope it stays like that since there is a second wave around here of infections and since my wife is a nurse you never know what can happen. Keep safe -

Thank you I took my time to weather the plane and I used many layers to blend the effects. Yes at the moment we have recovered and hope it stays like that. Only the province I live in has fast rising infections. Time will tell how it will evolve! Keep safe! -

Thank you for your kind words! Yes the weathering took a long time. There were 3 different Olive drab paints used and two gray ones. I used a lot of oil paints, Pastel powder, weathering pencils and some Ushi metal powders here and there. -

Thank you very much. Indeed we are better but infection rate is climbing rapidly here. I work at home and wil continue to build more models, modelling is the best hobby for these times. -

Hi fellow modellers, I just finished my third build after coming back to the hobby after an absence of more than 10 years. It also counts as a Covid build since we were in quarantine for a long time… I had to pause the build when we got infected with Covid in april, Its what they call mild infection but we were pretty sick.. my wife is a nurse and she got it at work. Three weeks ago I got to go back to hospital because I got memory problems and its a good chance that it was Covid related… took me out again for some time… modelling is what kept me going in between sick periods. But now I am better and was able to finish the build. Sorry its another Tamiya P-38F.. but I hope you like it!

Great build! Congratulations! -
I am following this with intrest since I have the same kit in the stash. After building their Piaggio-Pegna Pc.7 I put it a bit lower in the stash... So no I am not surprised with all the things you find that need replacement... They have a good choice of subjects but they are not Tamiya or Wingnut Wings..
