  1. Mars Bars definitely used to be bigger. I remember when I was about 12 (around 1972) and going into local sweet shop for my daily Mars Bar and was horrified to see the Bar was smaller but with folded wraps each end to make it seem the same length ... and it was still the same price !!!! They could get away with that back then I suppose, but it was the first time in my then young innocent life I was aware of dodgy marketing practises ... and not the last
  2. I just saw this, love it and had to share. I wouldn't have believed it if it were not for the picture, I just love the eccentricity of the guy ....... While drinking, a Pilot bet he could land outside the bar, 2 hours later he touched down in central New York in a stolen aircraft. Years later he repeated the stunt because someone wouldn't believe him. In September 1956 after drinking heavily at a bar in New York City, Thomas Fitzpatrick made an intoxicated bar room bet that he could travel from New Jersey to New York City in 15 minutes. At 3 AM he stole a single-engine plane from the Teterboro and flew without any lights or radio before landing on St. Nicholas Avenue near 191st Street in front of the bar where the bet was made. The New York Times called it a "fine landing" and a "feat of aeronautics". For his illegal flight, he was fined $100 after the plane's owner refused to press charges. In October 1958 just before 1 AM, Fitzpatrick again stole another plane from the same airfield and landed on Amsterdam and 187th after another bar patron disbelieved his first feat. For his second stolen flight, judge John A. Mullen sentenced him to six months in prison. When asked why did had undertaken the 2nd flight Fitzpatrick told the police "he had pulled off the second flight after a bar patron refused to believe he had done the first one" Fitzpatrick was a Marine during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He has three sons and was married to his wife, Helen, for 51 years working as a steamfitter. He died in 2009 at the age of 79. Fitzpatrick has a mixed drink named after him for his feat called the "Late Night Flight"
  3. Wasn't there word of an Airfix 1/48 Vulcan at one point, or was it just a tease? It would be a large model I know, but I'd buy one for sure.
  4. But I agree with Stephen ... its apparently a brutal showing of RAF's weaknesses and strength (and very up to date) and perhaps this is not the best time to be revealing that to a world wide community whom are not necessarily our best friends in these dark times? I have to assume the MOD have approved this, good and bad, weakness and strentgh ... I really am concerned. However and living beside RAF Lossiemouth myself, am enjoying this very much ... only just recently discovered this series. Have a Freesat device to record the series as and when, if it comes out on DVD, Blu ray ETC it will be an instant purchase for me. other wise will have to figure out how to transfer legitimate transfer media from a Freesat device for my archives, would love to watch this again in the future ... as is my want for good RAF documentary such as this. My late old man was in the RAF for 21 years plus and I grew up that way ... just cant let go
  5. They could be decoy false names? But their faces and approximate location are shown too ... Not sure what to think about that aspect, hope the MOD know what they are doing? I'm sure they do I hope.
  6. RIP .. My mum loved him too
  7. I meant in 1/32. I know about the Tamiya German 1/48 kits, I have them all :)
  8. Tony, oh boy, the very notion of a Tamiya, well researched Me 262 in 1/32 makes me feel a little dizzy ... it would be wonderful. I sincerely hope they do something in 1/32 again soon, whatever it will be, I will buy one.
  9. Sorry Joseph, without the Video I thought you were having a go At Roger Waters there .. I do apologise Honestly going to see Roger Waters DSOTM Redux release soon in London ... Its going to be something else
  10. I firmly believe if Tamiya were to release a new state of the art Messerschmitt Bf 109 in 1/32 scale they would have a massive hit on their hands, they happily produce 1/48 scale kits of this type. but so far and apart from the excellent Zeros dont go near ww2 German fighter Aircraft. Its such a shame, really is
  11. Probably best to quote a link of your intention mate, rather than have us guess.
  12. Going to see Roger Waters AGAIN this year, believe it or not And I certainly never expected this. Dont know what to say really? but grabbed a couple of tickets for this show at London Paladium next month ... most expensive tickets I've bought in my entire life for sure. close to £500 each, another £300 for hotel and I've not factored in my travel yet, but will soon. I think its going to be rather special though ,,, went to see Rogers This is not a Drill show twice in June at Glasgow, fantastic, and last time when he toured here back in 2018 was at both his Glasgow shows too. This show will be completely different, but simply had to be there, had been humming and heing about it all week, but thought ... we only live once ... got good seats ... it will be different and fun I'm sure ... its so good to have another Live show like this on my soon horizon .. I honestly just thrive on live music shows like this.
  13. This is even better payback, please watch.
  14. Thanks Guys, its worked and I know better now as to how to legitimatly bump now a sales thread ... Silly Me LOL
  15. I think the above is a horrific scenario, weve been close to before .. as in other postings here about Cuban missile Crisis .. was too young to really remember, but as with Julian and others, my Dad served in RAF in West Germany with the GR1 Harriers at Wildenrath against the best Russia could throw at us, to us kids posted over there at that time, it just seemed like a crazy game ... but when I look back now at those times ... it was scary and practise for real. Utterly Chilling and now gives me real nightmares ... not for me ... I'm old and decrepit, but for the younger generation whom will inherit the Earth. When the sirens went off back in RAF Germany, and Dad rushed off ... you almost got used to it ... it happened often I can assure you, but mostly they were just excercises, Taccy Vals ... Tactical Evalulations. Trouble is, we are on the precipice ... yet again that some Madmen think its OK to exchange Nuclear weapons ... I hate to get political, but history seems to be repeating itself again and the war drums are banging. This is an interesting debate after the film .... Threads was released ,,, uttery shocking some at the top are so casual about their countrys being nuked Perhaps they think they will be safe in Nuclear Bunkers and immune from all its effects? Idiots, the lot of them. Oh I dont know? I now feel very upset about all this, its not the world we should have inherited from our wiser elders
  16. built one of these too ... The massive long snake decal (we used to call them stickers) I thought was awesome, was only 12 then LOL. But imagine for a moment if Tamiya were to release a 1/32 Stuka series soon? Even a 109 or 190. or better still a 262. Its OK to dream ... right?

    RIP Parky

RIP Parky ... he was a Proper good un
  18. Sounds stupid I know, LOL but have had an active For Sale thread going for ages here and noticed my post count does not seem to accumulate too? I'm not a post count commando, couldnt care less to be honest not in the slightest bit worried if my post count does not work ... Honest. But for selling purposes, thought I'd bump my for sale thread here, but it wont bump and is in danger of dropping off the radar soon? I've a good standing here for selling and buying, have good feedback and always give good feedback too for trades here. Not complaining by any manner or means, just curious as to how I might legitimattly bump a thread? Thanks
  19. This is a very recent 2023 bust, Weve all experienced this stuff I guess? Well done Jim Browning ... be careful folks. Scammers Raided Live!
  20. Bought some interesting new tickets for 2024 already, one is Proffesor Brian Cox, love his Science stuff, this one is at Aberdeen near me ... superb. Next one is Hans Zimmer in Glasgow ... say what you like about movie theme music .... Hans Zimmer puts on a big show ... almost Floydian these days I've heard, been meaning to chck out his shows for ages, it will be fun!
  21. Well ... by all acounts, this movie is a big Turkey ,,, an unmitigated disaster. Oh Dear
  22. Next big show is Yngwie Malmsteen down in Wolverhampton near Birmingham with long known pals there from a different chat forum ... Its going to be fun, its coming up soon in September this year. It will be our first meet in person apart from chat, so quite looking fwd to it, part of the fun for me is actually how on earth will I do this? as I am a fair bit disabled now, but where there is a will there is a way ... I've always thought in life, if you want something badly in live, you can do it, no matter the obstacles life throws at you. Venue itself in Wolverhampton is called KK's Steel Mill, and its the KK from UK band Judas Priest that owns it, been meaning to visit the place for Yonks, this is my time ... soon ... its Gonna be good. Had arranged to see same friends there before Covid for Kings X, postponed of course and eventually refunded, but I see no stopping us now ... damn I'm excited. Seen Yngwie live before, decades ago in Edinburgh, about late 1980's ... he is still amazing, please enjoy, strap on your headphones, turn up to 11 and listen intently
  23. Was looking forward to Hasegawa's forthcoming 350 LC RZ Motorcycle kit too, please tell me I can get one somehow? I normally buy from Hiroboy for this stuff, shall ask soon.
