  1. No hard facts, but its a well discussed rumour on many scale model hobby sites that Tamiya have called it a day for new 1/32, was reading a credible rumour elsewhere just yesterday on this topic. We all know Tamiya are very tight lipped and play their cards close to chest and so we'll never know for sure, however and apparently, there was a wish list on a Tamiya official blog where customers chimed in with what they would like for release and apparently very few chimed in with 1/32 Aircraft releases, most being 1/48 Aircraft types, 1/35 Armour, 1/12 Motorcycles (Yay) ETC. some say poor sales of the last Tamiya all new tool 1/32 Mosquito being less than expected and could be a factor? again we'll never know for sure, but it seems to ring true, also and speaking personally, Tamiya seem to have a habit of releasing types that could then be good for different variant releases and engineering them that way but never following through, also when the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito was released, perhaps people were waiting for a glass nose version as I feel that is the preferred modellers version type, certainly was for me ... so that might have resulted in poorer sales too ... or perhaps it was (as some suggest) just to big? but HK seem to have moderate success with even bigger 1/32 model types and multiple variants, Lancaster's, B-17's, and are quite expensive kits too, so although the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito was quite big and quite expensive, HK seem to do OK, it sure is perplexing isn't it? Although my forum name is a hint to my preference of 1/48 Aircraft I do make room for at least one example each of Tamiya's awesome state of the art 1/32 WW2 subjects (the odd Jet too) because of the sheer quality and pleasure of building experience OOB. I really do admire Airfix for sticking to their guns and continuing to release their 1/24 Aircraft series and will almost certainly buy their new Spitfire upon release ... but Tamiya, oh boy, what an enigma and hard to predict company they are for anything in any scale Could be Tamiya are just having a 1/32 hiatus, there was a big gap before they returned with their excellent of time Zero and then another long gap before the Spitfire, then it became a bit more regular and now seems to have stalled again ... shrugs. Just casually thinking aloud folks but keen to see what other modellers think on this. Please don't lets get topic heated or plastic political, that's not my intention ... just genuinely keen to hear on others thoughts about this, casual banter really PS: I think if Tamiya had released a state of the art 1/32 P-38 instead of a Mosquito it would have sold like hot cakes ! PPS: TY Admins for moving topic here to more appropriate forum 👍
  2. As a relevant side note, is there anything wrong with Tamiya's 1/48 Corsairs, shape/fit or otherwise that Hobbyboss decided to release new tool versions? Have the Tamiya 1/48 Corsairs but still to build them. Thanks.

    PC/monitor issues

Make sure the Power cable back of monitor is fully pushed in, sisters monitor was like that once and that fixed it, worth a try ... good luck.
  4. Not bought mine yet, penny pinching at the moment, but fitting this into next months budget for sure, really looking forward to it and it looks like a great seller already for Airfix, so hopefully more variants to follow soon. I do love the Bucc's, live near RAF Lossiemouth and was at their friends and family farewell show when the Buccs were retired, so will be doing mine OOB and one of the kit provided Lossie decal versions. After the Buccs were retired and locally at our scrap yard, me and a friend went for a look and asked how much the Martin Baker ejection seats would be ... £15 each he said ... WOW, never hesitated and they were snapped up along with some other bits and bobs, they were willing to sell, even the old engines, but we had to stop somewhere and owning the seats was fine ... its interesting to note, the Buccaneer Pilot and Navigator seat differ slightly, the Nav seats side are splayed out slightly compared to Pilot seat and I hope Airfix have modelled this? Still have original Airfix 1/48 Bucc in stash, will I build it after getting this new one? .... probably not, but it will be interesting to compare them side by side sprue wise though, built one of the old Airfix 1/48 Buccs before and while it was a challenge for sure, it came together very well in the end and was very proud of it. As I say ,,, big fan of the Buccs, for a while our town had one parked on the edge of town at local petrol station, new owners now and decided they don't want it, so she's went to a new home ... I kinda miss it to be honest and live just up the road from there, it was quite the landmark.
  5. Genuine question if anyone knows? ... no angst or anything please, just need to know. Airfix re-booted their old 1/24 Superkit series from the 70's with the 1/24 Mosquito (did they ever do a glass nose one?) then came a Typhoon ... couple of models I think? car door and bubble top? Then Hellcat ... None of these I can find to buy brand new anymore? Honestly curious as to why that is ,,, would like to buy their Hellcat especially and that was a semi recent release, wasn't it? ... I mean, their old 70's 1/24 Superkits I bought as a kid are still in production it seems, so it cant be down to worn out moulds already, can it? Who owns the moulds for the newer Airfix 1/24 Super Kits now? I dunno? Look fwd to the new 1/24 Airfix Spitfire of course, but one wonders how long it will be around? Not everyone can afford to buy first release or even pre release bargains, just well heeled enthusiasts who buy many they will never build ... bit like I used to be before my massive sell off I suppose I fear if we dont grab an Airfix 1/24 Spitfire upon release, there will be no chance in the future apart from scraps and second hand Ebay ETC? Is that the way of it now? I ask this respectfully ... please
  6. I forgot to mention in my only vote here, but wouldn't it be wonderful if Airfix really thought out of the box and surprised us all next year with a state of the art 1/24 Sea King Helicopter with full interior ... hey even if they did it in 1/48 it would be nice as only other real option is the old Hasegawa mouldings now with RAF yellow ones hard to find, so long as Airfix modelled the interior to their now currant high standards it would be awesome. 1/24 or 1/48 ... what I'd like to see in such a hypothetical kit is options to drop on to main fuselage of model rotor mast, fully extended blades or stowed away retracted ones for space saving options ... perhaps blades suitably drooped for models shows, but display at home with rotary blades stowed ... I think such a kit would sell well ... just imagine the dioramas alone !! I realise a 1/24 Sea King would be large, but potentially smaller than an Airfix 1/24 Mosquito and a smaller footprint ... surely ... I do think it would be manageable and affordable, a big fuselage without wings that would use less plastic too. Just thinking aloud ... wishfully thinking and food for thought, sowing the seed
  7. Hi Greg, relatively new myself here, so never got to know you, seems like you are well liked and have made a big contribution here, so fair play on your decision. However, there is an Flight Simulator sub forum here on BM where myself and others often contribute, please stick around and let us know how you get on with FS2020 on here too please. I myself am a bigger Flight Simmer than Scale Modeller but do love both ... in fact I think both hobby's go hand in hand and compliment each other very well ... I bounce from one to one frequently and it does help my enthusiasm and zest for both ... but we are all different I know, but please consider keeping both hobbys if you can and if you want. Perhaps take a break from Scale Modelling if needed ... a lot of us have done that and came back, including me Enjoy FS2020 Greg ... Beware though, Flight Simming is very addictive too and can get quite expensive for hardware especially should you persue it, more so than Scale Modelling, you would not believe what I've spent on my FS Hardware and software over the years. Have fun though, FS2020 is maturing well now with a new update out quite soon to include proper Helicopter physics and more. Enjoy.
  8. You forgot 1/1 scale too I have the Halycon Alien Facehugger, they made the Alien franchise Pulse Rifle in 1/1 too, must be loads of others in 1/1 scale in the industry. But back on point, no official industry standard for scales I suppose? Factory's do there own thing for the most part with a nod to common scales most of the time, used to stress over it and try stick to one scale for one subject type, not so fussy any more ... prefer 1/48 for Aircraft, but if it gets to physically large will drop to 1/72 for WW2 bombers and suchlike, do buy odd treats like Tamiya 1/32 warbirds because they are so good, probably get the new Airfix 1/24 Spitfire too, really not fussed about it all any-more, despite my forum nic
  9. Giving this thread a bump after reading it, am in same boat myself now, old articulated long lamp has expired, about £75 ish budget. Not a large desktop area I have, but an elongated strip light would be nice, as was my last one. Ability to clamp to my desk for low footprint too. Just wondering if there is anything to add to the option mentioned already here. I gather LED is the way to go too now? Thanks.
  10. 1/24 Me 262 1/48 Lysander
  11. 1/32 Seaking, preferably by Tamiya (even though they shy away from choppers).
  12. https://pmdg.com/pmdg-737-600-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/ Just a heads up to my Flight Sim friends here, PMDG are selling their 737-600 for the cheap price of $35 ... £32 ish I paid for mine and that's dirt cheap for quality study level modules like this. 737's from PMDG for P3D and even FSX used to go for nearly £100. Not normally an airliner flier in Flight Sim, but this was hard to resist at this price for high quality software. Normally I'm a GA type Sim flier and love Bush flying ... but once again and at this price for known quality it was very, very hard to resist indeed. Delighted to say ... and as my first test flight ... managed to take off from nearby RAF Lossiemouth and land at RAF ( now MOD ARMY Barack's ) Kinloss without consulting a manual and if it were were for real, we'd all have survived with perhaps only a few passenger complaints ... any landing that you can walk away from ETC Chose this first test flight because no sooner have you taken off and gear retracted again, you need to start bleeding off speed and lower gear for a landing, a short flight but a busy one, almost a go around! am really looking forward to much longer flights soon ... who knows, might even get into Tubeliner flying properly at last ! Seriously though, this aircraft module reeks quality, the sounds are amazing and add to the immersion ... the futures looking good for MS FS2020 and with A2A chiming in soon, official MS Helicopter and Glider support coming soon too, its only going to get better. But please dont take my word for it., a Written review ... https://www.thresholdx.net/review/pmdg736 And a Video review too ...
  13. Never got into Grease, but Travolta sure could dance, he made a good decent tribute to here, well done and RIP.
  14. 1/48, Just got an email notification, should see them in most hobby stores soon, Ebay sellers too I guess.
  15. Out of curiosity Adrian, where did you hear this?
  16. Well, I'm not trying to put Airfix off at all, honestly, and shame on me for not knowing what an Auster looked like, its the naughty corner for me for sure All good fun Guys ☺️ I'm embarrassed enough already LOL However I bet a lot of Airfix's customers will be swooned by the box art no matter the subject if its good and hits the shelves at a good price, us online forum folk are probably a tiny vocal minority of Airfix's customers ... I hope the Anson sells well in 1/48, its not an Aircraft I'd have thought of much before, but will buy one ... probably invest in canopy and turret masking too at the very least in my cutting back in the hobby due to rising cost of living prices of energy ETC. So Wish Airfix or even Tamiya would do a 1/48 Lysander though, its such an important subject matter too IMHO. Loved Tamiys's 1/48 Storch to bits, felt convinced we'd get a Lysander next, but there is simply no predicting what Tamiya will do!
  17. Embarrassed to say .. I don't know what an Auster is?, an Aircraft I presume, and yes I should go google it EDIT: It looks interesting, would love Airfix to do a 1/48 Lysander though.
  18. Thanks all, will report back on the outcome.
  19. Thanks Guys, its all a bit strange, ordered from same German company last year and after new Brexit rules, there was none of this hassle or extra payment needed and I quite like what they do as a company, hence why I don't want to name and shame them already, that wouldn't be fair. Best suggestion is for me to be patient and wait and see what happens on Wednesday delivery day next week and take it from there, thank you all very much, been through a lot of anxious stress recently, thanks again 👍
  20. Thanks, its actually £180 that already included £45 post and packing, so original order value of £135 so another £55 on top is a bit steep, we'll see, thanks.
  21. Thanks BN, its all very odd though, will report back on any resolution soon.
  22. I can sense some eyes rolling already, and you are probably correct But still, cant work this one out, if its a scam its exposed, if its not, we live and learn Life is full of scams these days, and they get ever more elaborate. I need help and perhaps re-assurance here please. My potential scam is of a modelling related subject, well not quite, but we do a dedicated BM forum for it, dont want to say what or where from just now exactly as I like to play my cards close to my chest. The order was made a while ago, perhaps some two weeks ago to a company in West Germany, finally and after some chase upping, they despatched order two days ago by DHL, the amount was for about £180 is of which about £45 ish was for postage, pretty steep, but thats what I was prepared for when clicking the order from W Germany to N Scotland ... email dually received, all looking good for delivery next Wednesday. No mention of any extra email fee's in the official DHL shipping email I got ... however, yesterday got two suspicious calls on my Mobile that I've had for near 10 years of ownership of this number, both were quite unrelated obvious scam calls from Indian scam call center judging by their accents ... and please, am not being racist there and last thing I want to do is offend, but a lot of these calls do originate from there, even with cloned UK numbers, ... dealt with them swiftly ... then I got a text, saying it was from DHL and about my delivery, they want to me to pay them about £56 ,,, I looked at my email again for delivery and there is no mention of this at all? I tried calling the company in Germany, but no answer after a couple of tries, looked at text again and found a phone number, called and guess what, Indian call center again ... alarm bells clanging here, but decided to see what was going on ... talked with the lady for a while, she knew a lot of my personal details, at no point was normal DPA procedure observed, she seemed more keen on getting me to pay this quite possible bogus amount, The whole thing has left me a bit worried, will call company in W Germany again today, but even if this extra import charge of £55ish is true, its a bit steep for an order of £180 ish that already includes £45 ish of post and packing, even with Brexit, none of this makes sense to me?
  23. Roger Waters, at least one last time in my life please. Pink Floyd with David Gilmour too, but Davids more Lazy than Roger ,,, he made a tease, maybe recently, totally love him guitar wise, but it is highly doubtful he will tour again, much less with Pink Floyd. Roger is still keen and still very much Pink Floyd and still doing his thing and making it all seem seem fresh.
  24. Honestly not sure on this release, its early access just now, but if not now, then soon for sure ... I'm sure
