  1. Cheers mate, much appreciated!
  2. Thank you for the kind words... I know the contrast on the tarp looked a bit stark, but on the eye it looked not so bad. From experience, I know that dust has the nasty habit of settling on cloth (even if it is plastified, like modern tarps sometimes are) even more than on other surfaces. The tarp, therefore got an even more copious amount of pigments than the rest did. This also made the contrast less stark The mat was not so large and therefore went into the dio completely. Yes, also beneath the gun! Oh well, I'll have to order a new one if I ever want to use it on a future dio. 😕
  3. For a Dutch FB GB I decided to build a not often seen kit: Soar Arts' German 35,5cm M1 Super Heavy Howitzer (also posted in the Arty section). Yet I decided, this also needs a complementary (albeit skeleton) crew an ammo delivery truck and ofcourse a dio. Here are the results:
  4. Aaaand done! After adding some details to the truck and some vigorous weathering (I wanted to represent a heavily used and more or less worn out truck) I consider this done. Having said this, the only thing left was adding it to the diorama. A name plate will follow later... Love the result! 👍😁 Added hoops, loops and a "wire" to fasten the tarp. Also added lightcovers, windscreen wipers an filler cap, and I needed to make new bracket for the load bed, as the ones included were way too small The underside and (rear)sides have been lightly sprayed. First with dark yellow, then light sand Next a copious amount of Russian Earth pigments, where the rear part received more than the front. Ofcourse, the wheels received extra attention... Next I put everything together:
  5. Okay... now for the beginning of the weathering: Some very exclusive and rare polka dot camouflage... Also on the chassis and cab: Yet, this was not to be for very long... After a vigourous application of white spirit:
  6. On popular request a update on the truck... It is ready for weathering and to add the last minor details: The hood is created from square plastic (holders), Metal wires, alu foil (straps for the "windows") and tissue paper. Driver in place, with rolled down window. Rearflap of the hood Overall view. The cargo body is still separate.
  7. Thank you ver much for the compliment. Just finished the driver (yes, the shoes have been painted too by now )
  8. Making nice progress: the base is ready, the gun is in place and so are the figures. Also piled up a bunch of empty shells. This leaves only the supply truck to be added, which is still under construction.
  9. The crew is ready to mount their piece: Also the supply truck has arrived:
  10. Thanks for the compliments! The idea was actually that he looks away to hide his smirk. 😁
  11. Thanks... With a plastic barrel, I think thing will go awry if I'd try to fire anything
  12. I thank you for your kind words.... Ever since I did a project requiring 40 figures, I am not so affraid for painting them anymore (mind you: that was the first time I tried serious figure panting)...
  13. Hi my dear fellows, For a Dutch FB GB I decided to build a not often seen kit: Soar Arts' German 35,5cm M1 Super Heavy Howitzer (also posted in the Arty section). Yet I decided, this also needs a complementary (albeit skeleton) crew an ammo delivery truck and ofcourse a dio. My progress thus far: Gun: ready: After messing around with some foam board And grass and modelling paste for model railroading the base progresses nicely too... Then I started on the figs: Cleanup an assembly is rather straightforward. Then I started painting faces (all in Vallejo Model Color) Step one: a base color of sand: Next: Adding shadows, a mix of beige red and black red Step 3: First highlights, with beige red Step 4:Second highlights with base flesh Step 5: Final highlights with light flesh Please do note that the hands get the same treatment Step 6: Adding the eyes. Whites with white and a tad of sky blue, black irises /pupils. Step 7: Lips painted, with a mixture of beige red and burned red Step 8: Chin strap, black Step 9: Eyebrows, color depends on hair color The whole bunch finished. Next up: painting the uniforms, waiting for the truck to arrive (on order), finish the dio and fixing some details...
  14. Although pricey, I deceided to order these figures anyway... Arrived today from Belgium... Will be a nice addition...
  15. Thanks, I am very happy with how it turned out
  16. While forced to stay at home, time to build is available rather abundant. So, a new kist has been opened after finishing the M1 gun (see The first carrier is ready to receive it's base color:
  17. Me too, but SHMBO put a hold on purchases for the moment... Only if I can get hold of the crew for a decent price, she might budge (https://www.scalemates.com/kits/dragon-6201-artillery-crew--103172)
  18. Thanks, but since I intend to create a dio around it, I considder it not finished yet
  19. After some building, I finished Soar Arts' M1 35,3cm Heavy German Howitzer in 1:35. A pleasure to build, with great fit (just a bit tight at times) and some fiddly bits (not to build, but to handle after finishing it: ie railings and ladders) . Now it is ready to build a diorama around it... Missing the materials for the scenery, but more importantly, the figures I have in mind, and a truck.
  20. Thank you very much for the kind words. I feel flattered. ☺️
  21. Finally I can call this diorama finished. First the picture that was my inspiration, next what I concocted: the crew of the tank, next to a rather gloomy looking Colonel, grumpy that the tank also overcame this obstacle. Enjoy watching.

  23. There is always that first time... Next time I will be more carefull.. Rearguards???? Now that is funny 🤣
  24. I haven't tried.... The real pain was the fact that, although I thought I had everything closed up well, there was a leakage, so the water trickled away very slowly... Hopefully it is closed now.
