  1. @Keeff @Homer Thank you fellows of the plastic! :)   I am always happy if my brethren appreciate my handy work!

@Gordon J It is hard to tell exactly how long it has taken me, as I did multiple builds of other kits in between. Specially when the figures came in to sight...  I found out that finishing the little scenes one by one, instead of doing them in one  row, gave me more satisfaction and kept the mojo flowing...

  2. Warsaw, 17th of August 1944. The Warsaw uprisings are in full swing. In order to help suppress the revolt, the German army sends one of the 60mm mortars "Karl Gerät" named Ziu by rail.
After a long journey, it has finally arrived and prepares to drive to the front. Transporting such a large weapon is a big logistic operation! Is is a small wonder therefore that, while Ziu is already en route, the train that brought it here is still being unloaded.
All this under the ever watchfull eye of a camera from a Propaganda Kompagnie, ever ready to show the actions of the German Army in the cinemas.
Finishing this dio took me 2,5 years, with many delays and detours in order to finish other projects. But finally it is finished.  A good observer will notice all kinds of small scenes telling their own little stories, together painting the big picture.
There are 11 vehicles, more than 20 figures and numerous accessoiries on the dio.
    Enjoy watching!

And here I was thinking I was the only person in the entire world who’s wife bought a Border Lanc for Christmas. I guess there are two of us. I don’t know how she knew the kit existed.

Apparently there are 2 crazy enough to sell a kidney to please their hubbies...  :D
Oh, mine knew allright... I mentioned it often enough when we visited the LHS to drive her slightly mad... ;) Although I ment it jokingly, she eventually took it all: hook, line and sinker!

  4. My wife also order me a Full blown kit for Christmas, together with the MIG paint and solution box. Needless to say I was flabbergasted when I found out. Though she ordered in September, it only arrived 2 weeks ago.

As a way of saying sorry, the vendor also included a nose kit!!! So I now can build both nose art versions, but also have to find out the different antennae for each version 😕

This must have been the second edition.

It also says limited edition on the box, and has the bare metal barrels.

I checked the clear parts on each kit and on the full kit the clears are packed in a separate cardboard box and foam.  No broken parts here, but on the glass house, there is a whit oblong spot.  I already requested a new one. .

  5. Here are the pictures of my completed Hawker Typhoon Mk. 1B "Car Door" by Airfix. Not an easy kit to build and, as always, I made plenty mistakes and had to do quite a few repairs due to knocked of parts. Part of this is because it's size, part of it because of my own clumsiness.

I replaced the wheels with Eduard ones, as the tires of the stock ones are devoid of any detail.

As always, I try to show as much of the interior of the kit, though this takes away some of the characteristic lines of this iconic aircraft. But then again, it would be a pity not to show the intricate engine. Choices, choices...

  6. G'day,

I am looking for info about how the oxygen mask was connected to the Hawker Typhoon. The connection socket was on the right side of the seat, but how exactly did it look like and how did it go from there up to the oxygen mask of the pilot!?

I have not been able to find any pictures of this setup. It usually stops at the plm 75 cm extention connected to the mask...

  7. The first response of my wife, when I showed her, was: "Cooooool". So I take this as a permission to buy one, when it comes. I am currently building their Hellcat, and though it fights me at times, I like it enough to warrant this kit too!!!

the gun bay covers, which are more than likely fitted closed when the wings are folded,

The Hellcat could be reloaded while the wings are folded, so it is perfectly normal to have the gun bays open while the wings are folded. I am building mine with one wing open and one folded...
