  1. This site is not giving additonal information on the Bf 108 in question (well it says "NF+AW D-NFAW 7 Flieger Division mis en service le 24/06/1939"), but I thought I'd tell you anyway: general information on the Bf 108 https://sites.google.com/site/messerschmittbf108nord1002/historique Known registration codes https://sites.google.com/site/messerschmittbf108nord1002/annonces

  3. In case the instructions called for RLM 83 erroneously assuming it is dark green or green green or braunviolett, not "knowing" it is blue, there is a one out of three chance the error was self compensating. With a little luck the instructions and the modeller got "really dark" and "dark but not that dark" right and by knowing the original plane's manufacturer somebody in the chain got the braunviolett vs. green thing right and nobody got hurt (but still the ministry of truth will have to correct the old papers).
  4. If the recipe is right (authentic) and RLM 83 is blue, a lot of books (in the official language of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium "ein ganzer Arsch voll") and instructions referencing it connected to non-maritime Luftwaffe planes (originally intending to reference late war very dark green, the green-green, or braunviolett) will have to be collected by the ministry of truth and have to be rewritten. And a threesided coin has to be tossed how the three colors late war very dark green (#1) the late war green green (#2) and braunviolett (#3) should be referenced by the two designations RLM 81 and 82.

  7. Maybe there is a small chance to find period pics of a winter exercise with some white patches over RAL 6014 (or a troop trial or "opposing forces" representation with some brown), but Bronzegrün-Lederbraun-Teerschwarz just does not look right.
  8. Yesterday I could see the internal pics only, today all pics are visible. Great build and if I had to name a favorite detail, I'd name the antenna wire and insulators, followed by the canopy.
  9. Have you tried turning the computer off and on again?
  10. A bit more on B&W film in Germany before '45? https://zeissikonveb.de/start/kameras/deko-pionier.html (scroll down half the page) "Heute ist fast in Vergessenheit geraten, daß die junge DDR eine zweite große Filmfabrik hatte - neben Agfa Wolfen den VEB Fotochemische Werke Köpenick. Google translate gives: "Today it has almost been forgotten that the young GDR had a second large film factory - in addition to Agfa Wolfen, the VEB Fotochemical Works Köpenick. Founded in 1905 as Glanzfilm AG, the factory was taken over by Eastman Kodak in 1927. The name "Kodak" continued to be used until 1956, although the Nazis had already confiscated the factory. The abbreviation "Deko" used afterwards stood for "German Kodak". The brand name "Kodak" in relation to GDR products often evokes amazement and disbelief today. Kodak Berlin Koepenick"
  11. Method employed: click on one of the links and a new browser tab opens right click on image "copy image address / link" back to this post, insert copied link for example: https://i.ibb.co/wgmQjCW/21323.jpg
  12. I think we are talking about the antenna for the "Fl.-Bordpeilgerät Peil G 6" (maybe with "automatischem Peilzusatz APZ 6")
  13. Wait until somebody discovers evidence that early RLM 02 bleached / faded / yellowed in Spain in a very special way or was not used on the B-variant yet (but some other grey paint from Lufthansa or proprietary to Messerschmitt or as a trial of a Bavarian paint manufacturer). I think with a few details picked out in color and a little drybrushing it will be "great".
  14. "Well above average." (and everything the others said)
  15. I have no idea if you need a German IP address to view this, but starting at 3:45 you may view the legs of a Casa 2.111 in BoB livery followed by a bit more https://www.ardmediathek.de/video/Y3JpZDovL3dkci5kZS9CZWl0cmFnLXNvcGhvcmEtMGM0YjhhMDItNzlhYS00MTBlLWFhNzQtM2JhMWRkZTJmNGI5 In case your archive includes "The Avengers in Colour" do look for episode "Take Me To Your Leader"
  16. I wish there was a decent tramslation of the German thing https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensibilisierung_(Fotografie) the English text for photographic emulsion in general still leaves room for improvement https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_emulsion The first type (I guess congruent with "non-chromatic or ordinary") is nowadays called "unsensitized" and was mostly recording ultraviolet and blue. Orthochromatic film (plates) was developed well before 1900 and made things better for "natural looking" B&W pictures. Panchromatic cine film startet in the UK around 1913 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panchromatic_film For reproduction and "technical" use (e.g. titles in movies) otho-film stayed in business many many years because it can be handled in red light and because manufacture is cheaper. Unsensitized material used to be available quite some time for similar use. East-German "unsensitized" ORWO material appears on eBay now and then. DK 71 for making positive copies of microfiches, FU3 for X-ray (IIRC), DU3 for positive slides and so on. Within the German amateur market panchromatic film was well established for Contax and Leica (35mm), Rolleicord&Rolleiflex and Agfa Box (6x6cm roll film), Zeiss Ikon and Voigtländer (all sizes and flavors), etc. users before 1939. Still one can not outrule somebody pilfered/diverted/misused/"organized" some 35mm cine/technical material (or RoBoT gun camera material) or cut his own 6cm roll "B2 film" out of wider aerial reconnaissance material with "unusual" properties (but that is "exotic" and not the rule). The Americans will probably have used some Kodak film and plates. Maybe "Verichrome" https://www.ebay.de/itm/193381830965 (eBay link will expire some day and somehow that roll of film made it to some place where French was spoken, and yes Verichrome used to be ortho and turned pan in the 50ies)
  17. "Blue" would help to do the job but it was rather uncommon to use one. Yellow was quite common to seperate blue sky (darken blue) and clouds (leave them white), orange to make the effect more dramatic, red to make it surreal or to improve contrast in very distant objects (or have bright poppy blossoms on darker stems). Green / light-green / yellow-green to brighten up the grass or to have orange poppy blossoms darker than the green stem. Blue to emphasize the freckles of an Irish girl.
  18. With that one I'm "a bit surprised" how dark the presumably yellow nose band and rudder appear. Did the Western allies still use orthochromatic film in those days? But I'd "agree" on 76 for the legs (and the "could"-thing). And I see simplified under wing crosses.
  19. Before you start the paint job ... how many 6x27 were there? https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/ebay-messerschmitt-bf109.42465/page-124 and three more to be found here: (the website is trying to give you a hard time to download the pictures though) https://me109.info/web.php?lang=de&auth=e&name=ausgabetabelle_spezkennung&aktuellekennung=6-27&type=lc https://me109.info/display.php?a=e&l=en&fid=3061 https://me109.info/display.php?a=e&l=en&fid=3060 https://me109.info/display.php?a=e&l=en&fid=3059
  20. Reminds me of the good old days! "The other yellow 14", for WGr 21 it will be "yellow 3" 😉
  21. Coming from a developed country with a working banking system (where it was quite common to do "wire" transfers and not snail mail checks and have them cashed - many years before eBay was invented) I never quite understood this PainPal-thing. From a seller's (from an honest seller's) point of view PayPal and eBay "customer protection" always leaves you with a wide open flank to "strange" buyers.
  22. I was not there, so I do not know. But I think I do see shadows in the two pics https://live.staticflickr.com/914/43338634881_46bbe8993b_z.jpg and https://abload.de/img/34ui3k.jpg (let's not fight about this, we have so many 109 legs painted in RLM 02 (according to the kits' instructions) to be to repainted in RLM 65 or 76 or 66 now) On the other hand I discovered there were two shades of RLM 65 (dark light blue "Dunkelhellblau" and light "Hellhellblau"), used as splinter camo on this gear door rather early in the war: Yes, I know. 😉
  23. I'm not saying "I know ...!" just saying "it could be that ..." The light (sun) is coming in at a low angle from the plane's front and right as we may observe when viewing the wings', fuselage's, and stabilizers' shadow. I consider it to be "possible" that we see the shadow of a propeller blade and the fuselage on the RLM 76 painted landing gear cover.
