  1. Learning German is probably a pain in the neck for some, but once you got used to capitalization of nouns you don't want to miss it. It helps to identify subject and object in a sentence fast(er). "time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana" would be "Time flies like an Arrow, Fruitflies like a Banana" (still funny when spoken, easily understood when read in a book). Before saying "Hupen" say "Streichholzschächtelchen" a few times.
  2. Make that "Hupen", Hupen is the noun, "hupen" is the verb. Egészségére! Or as our friends from the other side of the pond say: "Honk if you're horny!"
  3. Sorry I was so late, but I needed the third party input "voltage regulator". Before that I thought it might be some sort of relais. Anyway, late again: German Hupen (Hupe one single klaxon, Hupen more than one) come from Bosch (not from Klaxon) and in case you search for or talk about "Hupen" be advised it is a German slang word like "bristols" (referencing precisely those, but not in the sense of helicopters or cars). The real things for example (go grab the pics before the auctions are gone) oval badge https://www.ebay.de/itm/296353943534 (12V) https://www.ebay.de/itm/385917198372 (12V) https://www.ebay.de/itm/126351208603 (12V) https://www.ebay.de/itm/384694814804 (6V) circular badge https://www.ebay.de/itm/394021009801 (6V) https://www.ebay.de/itm/285806204929 (6V) Oh, "Great work as always!" (makes me feel small and dirty watching you build)
  4. They have a promising part 1 but I'm missing part 2 (or any other continuation) and there seems to be a parts list (GO AND GRAB THE PICTURES!) for sale https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/mercedes-lkw-oldtimer-l-4500-ersatzteilliste-90er/2642085711-276-5049 (but I don't see the date of print and it seems to cover a civilian version. Anyhow, it doesn't hurt to grab the pics). And a cheaper offer with less pics BUT THAT IS THE Zusatzliste FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVE version of the L-4500 from 1954 https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/ersatzteilkatalog-zusatzliste-mercedes-l-4500-rechtslenkung-top/2657007196-76-1714 A Lichtmaschinenregler / voltage regulator for a generator ("generator" as "opposed to an alternator") would belong "between generator and battery" and would have 4 contacts, 2 towards the generator, 2 towards the battery. Exmaples for refurbished parts (they look spot on!): https://kohl24.de/de/Einzelteile-/-Ersatzteile/Bosch-Gleichstromlichtmaschine/Gleichstromregler-Bosch-0190300036-0190300037-0190300049-0190300067-0190300070-0190300087-0190309002-0190309009-0190309019-0190309025-0190309030-0190309036-0190309038-0190350005?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqZePi5OnhQMVxqaDBx2tqwktEAQYCyABEgIIJ_D_BwE https://kohl24.de/de/Einzelteile-/-Ersatzteile/Bosch-Gleichstromlichtmaschine/Gleichstromregler-Mercedes-Benz-Bosch-0190300012-RS/UA150/12/6-12-Volt-Original-Bosch?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqZePi5OnhQMVxqaDBx2tqwktEAQYAiABEgLTTPD_BwE And NOS (no cross slit screws!) https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/bosch-oldtimer-lichtmaschinen-regler-0190309032-nos-bosch-299vb-/1893203275-223-18922
  5. There is a vegan alternative to Easter eggs https://www.der-postillon.com/2024/03/osterkartoffeln.html Hope google translate will do the job for you ... and please do note: Der Postillon is a complete fake and fun website.
  6. In case he had said "OK." you could still have added "That is per week naturally, not per month."
  7. You knew how to push the build over the finish line! 👍 Sorry I can't help regarding a Kleer/Future substitute. I got a small jar when Jonny Kliesch still ran Rettkowsky. All floor polish products available around here look "unsuitable" so I never tried any of them. More things to know about? The forum has more than enough. Just keep going and tackle one improvement after the other. - After market parts (cockpit, wheels, gun barrels, you name it - they charge it) - Filler (and sanding paper / sticks) - More expensive brushes and other tools - Masking tape and masking sets for canopy frames - More authentic paints, and "better paint than the stuff included in the kits" - Weathering and panel lines - (Rigging and antenna wire when applicable) - Airbrush - Decal setting magic potions - Clear (flat or glossy) coat - Photo background - DO NOT COMPARE YOUR MODEL TO OTHER BUILDS! "Das Vergleichen ist das Ende des Glücks und der Anfang der Unzufriedenheit." - Do not turn into a tool collector Just keep going!
  8. The video shows holes and offsets in the sheet metal 1:43 front, driver's side and at 3:38 the front on the passenger side who knows if that is original, repaired post war or restored in the museum?
  9. Don't shoot the messenger! But maybe you will get the urge to fill those holes some day (either with some kind of seal or cushion on top of them or with rivets holding the seal). The "Popnieten" (or "Blindnieten" or "Ziehdonrnieten" = "pop rivets") in the front look "postwarish" to me, the Popniete was introduced in Germany in the 50ies (yes, it was known in the UK well before the war). http://www.fahrzeuge-der-wehrmacht.de/Artikel/Mercedes_4500.html
  10. Imperfections? What imperfections? Hans Müller (the painter) violated some LDV in order to get the plane back into service ASAP and he did a great Job.
  11. Avoid the Airfix 1/72 DH 88 by all means.
  12. Going by the proportions (fixed/moving part, fixed end thin/wide) and comparing to pics in this thread https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/ebay-heinkel-he162-salamander.42489/page-2 I wonder if there were (at least) two versions of the Heckleitwerk another interesting pic https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/attachments/img019-jpg.702429/
  13. "Why do good guys typically move left to right and bad guys right to left?" was he the good guy in the movie?
  14. PS and a Japanese site https://m.blog.naver.com/gunny0134/221843287635 is giving a link to youtube (check exhaust stack at 0:09)
  15. I came across a nice still on this site: https://www.film-rezensionen.de/2023/01/einer-kam-durch/ Rudder looks a bit strange, a lot of stencils missing and the hole (in the Gruppe-bar) to push a bar through to jack up the rear end, canopy framing on the thin side flaps(?) still not bad, it could be worse. Check: https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205223068 and https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E-gUw6lX0AMLHQX.jpg
  16. The good old days are long gone. Butzi, Rasch, Rettkowsky, Feldmann, Dluzak, Modellbau Müller they all are history. You may try Hartfelder, esp. the shop in the AEZ https://www.hartfelder-spiel.de/hobby-und-technik/ and https://www.harburger-lokschuppen.de/ (despite "Harburg" in the name now located in Wandsbek)
  17. If I look at my historic wheelbarrow tyre (old, German, runs on grass and dirt ground) I'd go for a brownish cast in the black rubber and a light coat of dust and dirt on top of that. Moist grass cleans and blackens the running surface not the tyre walls. And it seems the Luftwaffe didn't clean and repaint the tyres more often than I do.
  18. That one is so ugly, it does not hurt to mention it twice. Another "non success" the Mitsubishi Lancer turbo 2000 ECI https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-21138-mitsubishi-lancer-ex-2000-turbo--1308973 https://www.scalemates.com/kits/beemax-model-kits-10608-mitsubishi-lancer-turbo--1223698#
  19. In case it is an antenna (or it's dielectric cover) my guess: Bakelit (dark brown). To my support (well, maybe we see it maybe we don't): https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a6/Messerschmitt_Me410A-1_U2_Hornisse_‘420430_3U%2BCC’_(46163445355).jpg
  20. I think mine (finished some 45+X years ago, probably painted with Humdrol 30) was one of the few Airfix kits (if not the only one) with "running" rubber tracks (maybe a Matilda was the other one).
  21. For some reason or the other Hr. Messerschmitt chose to use "primer" on those 109Gs anyway - at least for these propaganda shots (maybe just to confuse the Russians) - maybe nobody told him he didn''t need to use primer anymore since 1939 - maybe it was leftover RLM 78 that had to be used up (on aluminum parts only not on the tails supplied by a subcontractor), maybe.
  22. Yes and no. To me "E3" and "E4" are like shorthand for "an E already with wing canons but not yet vith ze Zusatztank and round canopy if you can't see ze Werknummer" and "an E already with wing canons but not yet vith ze Zusatztank and squarish canopy if you can't see ze Werknummer".
