Welcome from Alabama!

Looks really nice!

Is that the HPMS show on Saturday? I was going to try and check that out! Those finished photos are absolutely beautiful, and having followed your WIP thread and knowing how much work it took to get there just makes the finished product all the more amazing! Good luck at the show.

Amazing results from a vacform kit! The only vacuform I ever tried my hand at was a huge model of the Hindenburg dirigible. I got as far as gluing the two fuselage half together, but never got a clean seam between the two and never even tried installing the gondola or engines.

Re-scribing all those fairly complex panel lines must have been a real chore! I admire your technique and your determination, they resulted in a really beautiful aircraft!

Really pretty! I always like a plane with a shark mouth! 😉

An unusual version of one of my favorite fighters! Beautiful paint job.

Airfix Apollo Saturn V Rocket (A11170) - 1:144 Airfix
mdauben replied to Julien's topic in Sci-Fi & RealSpace Kits
As a child at the height of the US manned space program in the 60s, I've always had a fondness for "Real Space" models of that era. Its great to see this one back in production. Your review mentions that a real Saturn V can be viewed at the Kennedy Space Center in FL, but there is another one on display in the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. Its mounted horizontally inside a museum building allowing a great view of the huge rocket. -
A Pair of Jump Jets: Harrier GR.3 and F-35B
mdauben replied to SaminCam's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I always loved the classic British grey and green aircraft camo, particularly on the Harrier. That's just the look I think of when I think of the Harrier. Your model is really shaping up nicely and looks to be a really winner!- 87 replies

Call me crazy! 1/72 Northrop YB-35 Flying Wing
mdauben replied to billn53's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
The "wing" is definitely looking good! I like the choice of adding the "Arctic" markings, they really add to the visual interest of the model. -
Can anyone comment on the Zvezda Mig-25 in 1/72 scale?

Hmmmm... I have an Airfix F-86 sitting on the shelf next to my hobby table. I'll be curious to see how you Academy version goes together.- 174 replies

A really nice looking finished product! Its funny, but before I started lurking here on Britmodeller I didn't really know much about post-war British military aircraft, other than perhaps the Harrier. Now, it seems I'm constantly running into interesting new British jet aircraft that I want to add to my modeling queue! 😃

1:48 Lockheed F117 Nighthawk Farewell Flight
mdauben replied to RMCS's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Really well done in that flashy and unusual "farewell" color scheme. Is the flag pattern on the bomb paint or a decal? Either way it must have been a bear to do! Amazing work. -
Wow! That's very... Red! A really nice looking model in an unusual color scheme. Great work!

I just noticed we are neighbors (I live over in Madison)! One of my friends was posting pics from the convention in Chattanooga but I wasn't able to make it there. -
Guideline Publications Grumman F9F Panther Warpaint No.119
mdauben replied to Julien's topic in Reference material
I've got a Panther kit in my modeling queue, so this looks like it would be dead useful! -
Sorry you are having problems with paint tear off, but you seem to have a good handle on that problem and this is turning into a fantastic build. Can't wait to see the finished model!

I've just returned to aircraft modeling after years of inactivity. I picked out a model I wanted to use as my "starter" model and ordered it, but while waiting for it to arrive (why does it seem so many model kits are only available from Japanese or Chinese vendors?) I've already ordered 3-4 more models! I don't think this quite qualifies as a "stash" yet, but I seem to be drifting in that direction. 😁

Anybody else 'obsessed' with one particular aircraft ??
mdauben replied to Mancunian airman's topic in Aviation Chat
I think the closest thing to an "obsession" I have would bee the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. I have a general interest in early jet fighters, like the US Century series, but the F-104 is a particular favorite. I think much of it is the "purity" of the design. Its a plane made to go fast. The whole design and appearance are based on the need for speed. Plus, that they had accomplished so much in that regard with the relatively immature technology of the time. Just an amazing airplane. -
Beautiful model! The contrast between the neutral bare metal and black anti-glare panels, and the bright red tail is really striking.

I was just watching a documentary about the TSR2 the other day. Fascinating aircraft, and the behind the scenes shenanigans regarding the development program were just as interesting!
